""BAM!"" 7/8/2011

What can I say, it's an Emeril restaurant- food is always great and service is beyond perfect. I prefer the atmosphere here over NOLA because there's less tourists but I still prefer Commanders. Nothing beats Commanders. more

Excellent food. Good lunch special. 5/25/2010

Had an excellent lunch with my wife. Made me wish I was in NO for a few more days so I could go back! I had a lunch special which featured an appetizer, an entree, and dessert for just under $20. I had the Oysters Julia as well as a tomato soup. Both were OUTSTANDING. My entree was the duck confit over toast. It was not what I expected, but tasted pretty good. My wife ordered the veal sandwich and I have to say that it was one of the best steak sandwiches I've ever had. Our dessert was the vanilla creme brulee.. I am biased with creme brulee as I can't remember the last time I didn't like one. :o)\r \r Overall, I'd recommend this restaurant to anyone who is not afraid to try different things. The menu can be intimidating to someone who does not eat out often. Pros: Great taste. Great Service. Good Lunch prices more

Graeat dining experience. 1/5/2009

The lamb ribs and the rabbit are superb. Try to reserve seats at the chef's table to experience the excitements in the kitchen. It certainly was a costly meal, but with the down to earth service and sublime food, this foodie was very satisfied. Pros: service, chef's table Cons: price more

Bad service fair food over rated 10/22/2008

My family and I ate at Emeril's a few nights ago and after driving more than seven hours I was expecting something really outstanding since it concidered one of New Orleans finest restaurants. I was disapointed. For starters our waiter seemed unusre of himself and was slow and unatentive. We had to make requests to him repeatedly since he often forgot the first time we asked. He was slow and just seemed to lack the skills it takes to be a waiter in a really good establishment. This in itself was enough to tarnish the experince, but when the food came out it got worse. \r \r My wife ordered the flat iron steak and it was dry (ordered medium rare) tough and tasteless. It absolutely blew me away. There was nothing fancy of flavorfull about it. It was just a bad steak. The potatoes were the only thing on her plate that were good. I had the mushroom soup for an apetizer. It was good but nothing special. I had the saffron dusted shrimp entree and again it was good but not anything better thatn you could get at any chain seafood place. Everyone else at the table also had mixed reviews about thier food. Some really good, some fair, some not so good. The deserts were very good. \r \r Over all for the prices I felt that Emeri's was highly over rated. The portions were very small (I only got 5 shrimp). Emeril's is doing very well because of his name and television exposure. If you want great food, go to Commander's Palace. You will get your moneys worth. more

Not that good.... 9/29/2008

I hae been there twice now, and haven't been impressed either time. Service was good, wine list was large but WAY overpriced. I had a ribeye last night, and the meat itself wasn't that good - and then they put some blue cheese on top of it to make it special or something - all it really did was make it not very good. ( and I like blue cheese). Pros: service Cons: food, price more

Service 5 Stars, Food 3 Stars 10/23/2007

My wife and I were in New Orleans to celebrate our wedding aniversary, after rebuilding Katrina destroyed homes in Mississippi. We had a reservation at Emeril's for 6PM. The momemt we arrived the service was excellent and the resturant was beautiful. I chosed the ""tasting"" menu; my wife had a salad with a skate entree, and we shared a wonderful bottle of Austrian wine. The issue was with my tasting entree. The plate consisted of a very dry, tough pork chop on top of dry tough meat. I was offered another dish, but I declined, since I expected it to be correctly done the first time. This was all followed by the best desserts. If my meal was prepared correctly, I am sure the rating would have been 5 stars. Pros: Ambience, Service, Wine List, Dessert Cons: Tasting Menu more

Better in person than on television 12/25/2006

I was stoked about coming to Emeril's restaurant! I knew I wouldn't get to see him personally, but it was all about the food I watch him prepare on television. I saw so much I wanted to try on the menu, that I went back twice! \r \r The first time, we had two appetizers, split an entree, and split a desert. Great wine selection and the sommolier was right on with her suggestions!\r \r The second time, I decided not to have wine or drinks, but tasted different things on the menu. The specials (appetizer and entree) were tonight's choices. They were out of this world. The foie gras was INCREDIBLE!\r \r As far as the atmosphere goes, it probably wasn't up to a Jean George, but the foie gras was superior to that of 1 West Central Park Drive by a long shot. The fish was superb. \r \r Make sure to take note of how the server's bring things out. They always set the plates down for the entire party at the same time!! It is SO cool!! Especially if you are with a big party. Nobody is served first and has to wait and let their food get cold. \r \r I was ecstatic about the fact that I am a business traveler for the most part, so I am rarely in a hurry when it comes to dinner. This is my one chance to see the new city I am in that week or day. While some may not enjoy spreading the time out, I did. Make sure you plan accordingly. Without even trying, I pushed a dinner date to a two and half hour dinner. Service was impeccable the entire span!! \r \r My only concern was the valet that looked 13. I was a little concerned to turn a vehicle over to him, and they didn't catch the lady's door (a must in a 'for tip' situation). I'd have much preferred they get her door than mine. Pros: Food. Service. Cons: Valet could use some experience. more

Emeril's Re-opens Post K 12/28/2005

Live in the neighborhood and wanted to be there for the re-opening on Dec. 8th to support this local business. 4 of us were the first to be seated, best table in the restaurant (except for the private kitchen table), the service was wonderful, Emeril not only served us personally but thanked us for coming in. Our food was delicious, in particular my salmon and the gnocci appetizers were top-notch. A couple of miss-steps in service by the regular waiter, but it was opening night after all. Everyone was a bit nervous, even us! Expensive, but worth it. Pros: Food, Service, Wine Cons: Not a quiet romantic, place, hectic but, fun more

Foodie Heaven 7/10/2005

Our first visit to New Orleans was highlighted by a planned visit to this NO staple. The food was fantastic, the setting was very beautiful and the service was impeccable, you wanted for nothing. The wine list is like reading an encylopedia with a very wide range in types and prices. The menu has something for everyone and the waiters all very well trained. Sometimes this much attention can be annoying, but these guys deliver it without a hitch and we never felt intruded upon. Pros: FOOD, Service, Setting more

Good, but no need to go back 4/11/2005

We had a great waiter who looked like it was his first day, but he still knew how to take care of a table. Got to see everything going on in the kitchen, which was nice. Dinner was too pricey, and the food just took too long to come out. 2-person dinner was almost 3-hours. Lamb and chocolate souffle were great. Sausage appetizer was nice, but small. Salmon was undercooked as the apptizer. Romaine lettuce salad with bacon and crab was too basic. Took about 25 minutes to get bread, and an hour to get the salad. Pros: Great desserts, Friendly waitstaff, Nice atmosphere Cons: Long wait for food, cramped seating, pricey more

NOLA Excellence 9/22/2004

Don't hate this place because of the overexposure of it's namesake. The fact is, it is one of the best run kitchens in NOLA. For a real experience, sit at the food bar and watch the chefs at work right before your eyes. Try the Tasmanian sea trout if it is on the menu. Meats are done especially well here as well and you can't go wrong with any order of beef or pork. The chocolate covered peanut butter pie is a must try if you have room for dessert. Pros: Meats, Desserts, Pro Service Cons: , crowded more

Outstanding 7/11/2004

We had a late reservation (10:00 pm). The service at that time was wonderful. The food was great. It was worth the expense and the late night reservation. The decor was nice, and the staff was friendly and helpful. Will definately return. Pros: decor, food, staff more

This skeptic loved it 6/27/2004

Okay, as I usually am with restaurants that have the big names and the big prices attached, I was the same with Emeril's. Once I bit into the calamari appetizer, it all changed. The food was delicious and not in measly portions as some fancy restaurants give. My only complaint (and that of my friends) was that some dishes were a little salty, but still very delicious. The desserts were great too. Overall, a great experience from top to bottom, and the place is GORGEOUS. Pros: food, wine list more

terrible 5/4/2004

seven of us went and had been looking forward to it for months. i had been to Nola and it was great. we sat 20 minutes after our reservation time. they were out of several of our specials. four of us had steaks. two were undercooked and two were cold. the service was terrible. we ordered dessert with our entree order and it still came 30 minutes after our dinner plates were cleared. emeril should be ashamed. the waiter never apologized. more

Best Experience 1/24/2004

I went in December of '03 for an anniversary. We had reservations for 2 months, and still had to wait, but it was worth it! The food was so delicious and the service was outstanding. Everything was brought out in a timely fashion. The waiters were proper in every move they made. For our one table we had 3 waiters! I felt like a princess. I totally recommend this for a special romantic occasion. At the end of dinner they brought candles in our deserts and wished us a happy anniversary! VERY romantic! Make sure to make reservations! Pros: GREAT service, awesome food Cons: valet was not good, the wait more

Not impressed 10/4/2003

Spice decor on the wall is tacky. I've seen them on a lot of chinese restaurant. It's so loud people are screaming at each other. What dress code? I saw several people in shorts, sandals and short sleeves shirts. Don't order the degustation (6 course dinner) or suffer the three hour torture of waiting. It's not fine dining, it's just a high end diner. more

Marvelous 8/30/2003

Everything was perfect. We found the prices to be average and we highly recommend the duck and the red fish. Pros: Atmosphere, Staff, Dining Experience Cons: directions more

Excellent! 8/20/2003

Went to Emeril's last year....and it was INCREDIBLE!! The food was great...but I have to say that the serivice was the best part. There were three at our table, food was brought to us by three different people, and handed our plates to all three of us at the same EXACT time. talk about service!! i felt like royalty. It is expensive, but then again...you get what you pay for...and what you get is an awesome experience. definately go there when you hit new orleans. going there this weekend and already have reservations!! Pros: service, food, did i mention service Cons: expensive, crowded more
