OK Pizza, Below Average Service 10/20/2008

Pizza is OK. Beer Selection is good, but overpriced. Counter staff can't seem to split tabs. i.e. two friends go to Elwoods and get a pitcher and a pizza. Two friends want the total split. ""Um, we can't split the tab, you have to pay for it with one card"". The manager was rude after requesting a discussion. The owners should re-evaluate the staff if they plan on repeat customers. Repeat LOCAL customers from Brookhaven and Buckhead will go away. more

I know pizza! 10/12/2008

I live on Ashford Dunwoody--and have access to several pizza parlors within 5 miles of my condo. Napoli, Corner Pizza, Athens, Il Forno, Mellow Mushroom, Ray's, Pizza Hut (gasp), Papa John's, Neighborhood, etc. \r \r I will pass all of these--even if I'm on the other side of town--and go get my usual at Elwood's. Listen, I'm from Philly. Born and raised in a city obsessed with great food--especially Italian. Back home, you don't order the franchise type pizza. On every corner are mom and pop/family-owned joints that proudly display their heritage and motto of being ""the best in the neighborhood"". \r \r Let me tell you, coming from that level of deliciousness down here and finding Elwood's has been awesome. Elwood's is the REAL NY/Philly style and I won't order from anywhere else. I have never had a bad experience with the staff and I've never waited more than 15 minutes...even on a Saturday night. \r \r The only thing that would make this my one stop shop is if they sold cheesesteaks and hoagies, and top notch wings. Although, Jerry's is next door and their hoagies and steaks are killer...fugettabouit!!! Otherwise, Elwood's, you are truly the bomb!! Gotta go, they close at 9pm tonight and I need my weekly fix! Pros: Pizza is on point Cons: no wings, hoagies or cheesesteaks more

Pizza Not So Great 10/5/2008

I've been here a few times. The first time I thought the pizza was quite good.\r \r I brought my wife the next time and they gave her a horrible slice with raw onions all over it.\r \r I figured that was a fluke and tried them again. On my last trip they were using fake cheese on their pizza.\r \r I was more than a little unhappy, and I've never been back. Pros: Slice are cheap, and the restaurant is nice. Cons: Pizza has gone downhill, not recommended. more

Not very good pizza 9/9/2008

Had such high hopes because they are right around the corner. Perhaps their ""designer"" pizzas are better but will not go back - very boring tomato sauce - our 1/2 pepperoni and 1/2 mushroom pizza was just not very good. Pros: Great location Cons: Food isn't very good more

Good Food; Tasty Service. 2/24/2008

Good old fashion pizza place where the owner is usually on site cooking. Staff is friendly and attentive, and the pizza is well above average. The prices are better than most other pizza shops of similar design. Most important to me is that its ""kid friendly"", but not like a ""Chuckie Cheese"". It is more like they have one corner of the shop devoted to kids; parents can easily keep one eye on them from my anywhere. If you prefer a more adult environment, show up after 8:00pm. Things seem to ""wind down"" around then.\r Televisions, Beer and Wine. Pros: Kid friendly and affordable Cons: Can't run a tab. more

elwoods rocks 2/14/2008

i think that Elwood's is pretty good at least its better than mushroom, dominoes, and pizza hut and papa Johns i think that it is really goo and if i could go there every day i would more

People are priceless 1/8/2008

I thought that the place was fine. What cracks me up is some of the other reviews posted here. One guy complains about the service, but he says that he had good service the two times before that. He never posted a good review for the previous good service that he received before, yet he rushes here and posts a bad review. Classic!!!\r \r Another lady complains because she had to wait 30 minutes and that her 4 year old was not happy. Well boo hoo, it was probably a very busy night. I can see who controls the show in that family, which is typical in today's society. Have some patience people in this ridiculous ""I want it now"" America that we live in today. Nice to know that everyone's so perfect. You forget that these employees are people too.\r \r Bottom line is that it's not the best pizza, but it's good. 4 and a half stars is a pretty good average score. C'mon it's pizza people! more

Forget New York Elwood's is closer 12/8/2007

It's worth the drive and closer to home Elwood's has great New York style pizza and calzones. We go often and the pizza is great crispy crust and the sauce is great not sweet like most places. Toppings are generous and fresh. Kids have fun and adults have a great beer selection!!! more

Great Pizza 11/27/2007

In the south or on Friday night Elwood's has great pizza. We go almost once a week and love it. Calzones are great and slices are fast, whole pizzas take longer but are made fresh to order. We have been on Friday and the place is packed so you may experience a wait...its Friday! Prices are great, atmosphere is fun and most of all the pizza is fantastic!!! more

OK Pizza - Terrible Service 11/3/2007

All the other reviews about the long wait time and indifferent staff at this location are true!\r \r I'd just moved to a new home that was close to Elwoods Pizza. They sent me a $10 gift certificate in the mail, so I thought I'd try it out to see if I liked it. I took my 4 year old son on a Friday afternoon. The environment was definitely kid friendly, with a lot of families - as well as couples with no children. I ordered a Large pepperoni pizza. I\r LITERALLY TOOK THEM 30 MINUTES TO COMPLETE OUR ORDER. As if this wasn't bad enough, I had to complain to the cashier to finally get my order expedited. This was after I saw several customers (who'd arrived after me) receive their food orders. They were unapologetic about our long wait time. If only the staff had been a little friendlier, I wouldn't have minded the wait so much. My 4 year old was not happy! The pizza was OK, but nothing to write home about. There are too many other pizza places in Atlanta to waste your time on Elwoods. Try Mellow Mushroom, Fellini's - or even one of the national chains like Wolfgang Pucks or California Pizza Kitchen. Pros: Kid friendly Cons: Indifferent staff more

Best pie in Atlanta 10/23/2007

We absolutely love this place. The people are friendly and the pizza is just outstanding. I didn't think anyone could beat Everybody's Pizza in VH, but Elwwod's is hands down the best. more

why does no one know how to make pizza in the south? 4/12/2007

i had high hopes for this place-- it sounded great. but like every other pizza place i've tried in atlanta, it's all the same. way too much dough, toppings that are undercooked not enough sauce and a crust that approaches concrete in crunchyness. too bad. i guess i'll just have to wait to get back to the northeast or chicago or san francisco to get something real. more

the place to go 1/27/2007

I love, love, love the pizza. Be sure to try the meatball and pineapple ( I swear, it's great!) This place has a really relaxed atmosphere, and is very kid friendly. You really cant beat the price either! I've been in atleast a million times just to grab a slice and go. (although pizzas do take longer) I would really recommend Elwood's for groups or families who want to have a good time and eat great pizza. Oh yeah, and great beer selection! Pros: food, friendly, convenient more

Great pizza, games for the kids and adults(golden tee!!) 12/18/2006

Great Pizza!! Slices out in a flash. Pies do take longer but well worth the wait. I've been in for lunch and dinner and always had good service. They just added tv's so a game is always on big plus!! Pros: Games for the kides more

Great Pie, terrible service 12/17/2006

Seemed like it had potential when I walked in. Nice decor and a good location for a pizza joint. Took my order, but the reviews below about wait times seems pretty accurate. Favored people showing up later than I were served earlier. I questioned the kid up front but just got a shrug of a shoulder. I am guessing that there is no manager in the evenings??? Once I got the pie, it was pretty good, but not worth the wait. Pros: Good Ingrendients and Decor Cons: Service more

best pizza in the atl 12/17/2006

Elwood's Pizza has the best pie in the city!Prompt service, extremely kid friendly, and very hip!The works pie is fantastic, ecspecially on the sicilian or thick crust. The hipster tattooed manager made sure to go to every table and see how everything was, beer was cold, and the decore retro chic.Highly recommended! Pros: great pizza, decor and staff Cons: none at all on any visits! more

Crappy Service 11/27/2006

I have had 2 good services. But recently had to wait 45 minutes for a cold pizza. Seems that the place is run by unsupervised teens who could care less. Where is the manager??? Pros: Good Ingredients and a hip atmosphere Cons: Poor Service more

Elwood's is the best new slice of Brookhaven 3/21/2006

As a Brookhaven resident, I am always looking for new local places to go, and Elwood's has been on my list since the day they opened. Great atmosphere, and the meatball and onion pizza is the best pie they make! Lots of cheese, and very tasty. I recommend this place over any other place in Brookhaven, including Mellow Mushroom! Pros: location, cost Cons: closed on Sundays, wait time, no sandwiches more

Got Time and Patience????? 3/10/2006

Great food.......however NOT worth the 45 minute wait. Be prepared for customers that order AFTER you and get their food BEFORE you. Management was not accommodating until third request for our food. Enjoy!!! Pros: good food Cons: long wait more
