El Sombrero Restaurant

I have lived in Bakersfield for 5 years and have been to many of the restaurants especially mexican because my wife and I love mexican food. I have never left a comment before on a restaurant whether good or bad, but this one I could no tlet slid. I can't believe anyone could say anything good about the food here.This was by far the worst mexican food I have ever had in my life.The tacos are like taco bell tacos, the food is presented looking very sloppy like a cafeteria, the interior and atmosphere reminded me of a high school cafeteria. It cost me almost $70.00 for my wife and I and 3 small children to eat. Que Pasa had better mexican food than this! We wont be back here again. more

My first time at El sombrero was at he age of 9 , I am now 46 and would not give up the chance to eat there at least 3-4 times a week , the chili Verde is awesome and the soft fried tacos cannot be found anywhere else . The excellent food and service are A1, Definitely 5 stars not to mention the fact that the cost will not leave your wallet empty. I highly recommend it to any one who is a lover of Great Mexican food.Tina more

Since I love mexican food and I saw their sign a while ago, I just had to try them out. The service was good. However, their salsa is really bad...tasted like taco sauce. I oredered the El sombrero burrito which was probably the worst mexican food I have ever had. It is basically a tortilla wrapped in some of sort meat that tasted like something inbetween chicken and lamb meat. Then, there was a layer of cheese on top. Floating around the burrito was a layer of fat juices from the meat. And that was that-no rice, beans, or anything else inside the borrito. For the first time, I was about to demand my money back, but I felt bad for the server who was really nice. To top it off, it was quite pricey. El sombrero is a great mexican food restraunt. Its a great family restraunt to eat out. Everyone is always welcome there. I love there food and you don't have to wait long to get your food your usually in and out which is great. more

El sombrero is an excellent mexican joint. They have delicious food. I like their cheese enchilads and tacos. They have good chips and dip to. It is inexpensive for a family to eat here to. more

This is an older restaurant that has been there for awhile. They have good mexican food, I really like the taquitos or the enchiladas. The service is always very good. They are located kind of downtown. Not the best neighborhood but certantly nothing I would be afraid of. more

This restaurant is a very family oriented one. They have many seats and tables in here and even ones for very large groups of people. They have excellent lunch specials and overall the prices for dinner are good. The guacamole dip is excellent, service is always one to compliment about here to. more

This resturant has great mexican food. I wouldnt say it is authentic mexican food, it is more americanized but the food here is great. It is always brought out to us fast and hot and always tastes really fresh. The service here is top of the line. This is one of my favorite places to eat out for dinner. more

This is on the list of my favorite mexican food joints. They have it all great food, great service. They are very fast at getting you seated, I dont think I have ever waited longer than five minutes. They are able to accomidate large groups of people at once. It's a nice relaxing place to get together with friends and family and eat dinner. They have good salsa and all you can eat chips that come with every meal for free. more

This is a small family owned an ran mexican restuarant. They have good food and their service is great. Sometimes you have to wait a little bit for a seat because they do not have a bunch of tables. The prepare your food fast and it is always very fresh. The location isnt the best and the parking situation can be a little tough so you have to go at the right times to find parking easily. I really do like the food here though. more

This has to be one of my favorite mexican restaurants in town, I have been going here for years. The owners are great, very friendly people. The food is good and the prices are very nice. The restaurant is always very clean, its always a nice time going here. Service is fast and we never have to wait for a table. more

My family really loves this place but I do not really care for it too much. I dont think it is authentic enough. The prices are good and they have especially good prices on combination plates but if it were my choice I would rather go some place else. more

El Sombrero is the place to go if you want quality Mexican food fast and at a great price. The salsa is on the spicy side, but it does not lack in flavor. The best in town!
