By far the Best Mexican Food in Draper 7/13/2011

I love their Chili Verde, lots of flavor New Mexico style, my wife had Chicken Acapulco and it was marvelous (we shared) and reasonably priced with complimentary chips (warm) and very tasty salsa. Very clean and inviting atmosphere, servce was fast and courtious. Very enjoyable dining experience. We'll be back. more

Best Mexican in Utah! 7/8/2011

Our family LOVES to go to El Rancho - the food is consistently delicious! They are one of the only restaurants (thatI am aware of) that make Sopapillas and amazing Chile Verde. \r \r They are also very good with large groups - I we have taken 20-30 girl scout leaders mulitple times and the service is fast and food is always excellent.\r \r OH... and Margarita Thursdays are the BEST! more

not good service, so-so food 1/26/2009

Okay I ate here tonight. The food wasn't bad, if you don't mind non-authentic mexican food. At my dad's house I ate homemade mexican food. I loved it, so not much is authentic to me unless I am in the kitchen at his house... But I will be fair.\r \r The chips were warm but seemed store bought. The ""salsa"" (I can't believe they call it that) was spicy, but not good. It tasted and looked like tomato sauce (from the can) with a bit of hot paprika. Ugh!!!\r \r It took a while for the waitress to take our order. The food didn't take forever, but the kids items (quesadilla) were cold, probably from being done first.\r \r I ordered the meal where you can choose three different items. I had the bean tostada, bean burrito and I asked for a chicken flauta instead of the other items available. Although the burrito and tostada were very ordinary, they weren't bad. Tasted okay, about on par with TacoBell but bigger portions. The flauta was actually good, tasty and crispy. I also had rice/beans. The rice was the thing I liked best about the meal. Keep in mind, NOT AUTHENTIC, but spicy enough and had the most taste of all the food.\r \r When we were almost done eating we handed the girl a credit card. She didn't come back for 10+ minutes. When she did, she was refilling waters for the first time (finally, but a little late). We asked if we could get our card, since she hadn't said anything. She says, ""oh, I thought you might order dessert, I'll go run your card."" So we sat there longer while she ran our card. \r \r *shrug*... about sums it up for me... Cons: service, taste more

Not authentic, but in an acceptable way. 1/7/2009

The fun thing, for better of wore, about living in Utah for most of my life and growing up in Texas is That I've had enough localized, and traditional Mexican food to comfortably shed 5 or 10 years off my life. So please remember that El Rancho Grande in not authentic Mexican food. But that's fine, I mean nachos aren't Mexican but that doesn't stop us from enjoying them, and that's what El Rancho Grande is, enjoyable. \r \r During lunch time its very inexpensive, the staff is friendly and the food delivers up to par. The spiciness of the salsa is rather inconsistent, but other that fine. My favorite thing there is the Chicken Acapulco, sort of Fajitas smothered in cheese, wile clearly American It is very good. Also lets be honest, when you want to eat do you care about how authentic it is? Their best known for their chill Verde which is also worth trying out. If its good eat it, and on that front El Rancho Grande delivers. It tastes good, its well priced, and the menu is well varied. \r \r Its not the best, despite the 5 star rating I gave it, but I felt it was necessary to help undo the one star it got... To that end ?Salsa? is Spanish for sauce, So how is it not Salsa? Besides, the whole chips and salsa thing is a purely American tradition, so you may as well roll with it. Pros: Good Amari-mex on the cheap, and good service. Cons: Acationaly inconsistant flavors. more

Ug, could it get worse - NO 12/5/2008

I went here one night hoping to find a good Mexican place and man was this place a joke. The chips are store bought and the salsa isn't even salsa, it's basically speghetti sauce. It's not even real salsa. It's like they mixed speghetti sauce, ketchup and salsa together and came up with a very bad tasting thing they try to put on chips and your food. \r \r I got fajitas and they weren't cooked well enough. The price doesn't even come close to the junk you get.\r \r I hated this place and would tell everyone never to go back. The only way I think people would like this is if they never went to any other Mexican food place outside of Utah, because this has to be the worst of the worst of bland Utah Mexican places. more

Favorite of ALL Restaurants! 10/22/2008

Rancho Grande is our all time favorite restaurant! We won't eat ANY other mexican food and the owners are the nicest people we know. My husband often goes to their Kearns location for lunch and the food is exactly the same, as well as the friendly servers. We were so excited when they opened the Draper location because it is closer to our home. Now we go there at least 3 times a month. They know us so well...they just ask if we're having ""the usual?"" And it's not just with us! I've heard them chatting with other customers in the same manner. It's a the best mexican food in town! Their Cheese Burgers & Fries are great too! Pros: Great food, very friendly owners and servers Cons: Can't think of any. more

Great Mexican Food HIdden in Draper 3/9/2007

My lady and I go out on Thrusday Nights for dinner (Date Nite) and we like to try new restaurants. Well I was looking at my Great Salt Lake Harley Owners ride calender and noticed that the group is going to El Rancho Grande in Draper next week for the dinner ride (3/14/07). Due to her's and mine work hours it is hard to get to the dinner rides, so we decided to try the place on our own. We were very supprised to find a nice looking establishment, clean, and friendly staff. There was also a entertainer singing (from thrusday thru sat) that made the place feel romantic as well. We may not be mexican, but the food was great. I had beef tacos smothered in Chili Verde with rice and beans, she had a taco salad. Unless you are real hungry don't order two tacos smothered as it comes on a huge platter. We were talking to the waitress and had told her it was our first time and that the group we belong to was coming the next week, she said she knew and was very excited to have the group. I find an employee who is happy about the place they work, makes the experiance better for the customer. Try it you will like it. Pros: Clean, Friendly, great service, good food more
