Ed Hanson's Muffler Service

My 1996 Impala SS with 270,000 Miles finally failed smog. Knew it was time for new Cats. My regular mechanic recommended Ed, so I drove right over there. Ed did some checking and found He could use aftermarket Cats. Saved Me about $500 right there. While doing the job he showed me the X pipe. I said i had to have that, so it was installed right away. (If you've got a hot car, YOU WANT AN X PIPE.) He then thru in a couple of Nice exhaust tips (no charge), since my original exhaust ended in the wrong place. Ed is so knowledgeable it's scary. And the word "nice" in the dictionary should have his picture next to it. Superior work and customer service. I didn't believe businesses like this existed anymore. I've had an exhaust leak at the manifold/head due to broken bolts for most of my Impala's life (13 years). Never had it fixed because everyone i asked about it said the head had to be removed to get the bolts out. I mentioned it to Ed and he said that was wrong, He could get them out and fix the leak no problem. Boy was he right. HE AND HIS GUYS FIXED BOTH SIDES WITHOUT REMOVING ANYTHING BUT THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD !!! The way they do it pure GENIUS !!!!!.... If you've got broken Exhaust manifold bolts, go to ed, he'll make a believer out of you. I can not say enough good things about ed and the way he does business. If all businesses we're run like ed's, the world would be a far better place. more

Stop almost any street rodder in town and ask who did their exhaust. Hanson's done most of them. If he's good enough for perfectionists he's damn good! more

Ed Hanson is amazing. I talked to him over the phone about getting a custom dual exhaust on my Toyota Land Cruiser. I just got a good feeling about this guy over the phone, so I drove the 25 miles to go see him. Boy, was it worth it. more

Ed Hanson saw me checking his hours the day of or after thanksgiving when everyone was closed. Ed just happened to be there, and opened his doors for me and fixed not only the hole in my exhaust but corrected the poor design of my system that caused my problem. I think that says a lot about this mans customer service standards and the pride that he takes in his work. I've been back a few other times and every time its the same quality and service!!! he and his staff are very professional, friendly, and helpful. My boyfriend and I took his car here to get a whole new piping and muffler for his hatchback and the guy was awesome. He worked on the car alone so there was definately no confusion on what we had translated to him that we wanted to see on the car. He even threw in a nice exhaust tip AND BUFFED IT! more

A friend referred me to Ed Hanson's shop, and I was very pleased with their excellent customer service and efficient repair and installation. Good: I have had Ed Hanson put exhausts on four cars and exhaust and headers on my truck. Never had a problem with any of them and this has been over a 15 year period.. Bad: One job cost a little more than I expected but it was done well and quickly.. Other: I'm partial, I personnally know Ed. Some reviewers have questioned whether he paid someone to give him a 5 star review. Anyone who knows Ed knows he would never do that. Before I really got to know Ed, while he was doing my first replacement, a person whom had come in from LA told me many people he knew came to Ed for custom jobs. The man didn't have a clue I knew Ed. I am writing this review because I would recommend him to anyone I know and have done just that.. more

I had a dual exhaust custom built for my infiniiti qx4, and it was great. Every shop in town said it couldn't be done, and they found a way to make it work. Not sure why everyone else had bad service, I thought they were great. more

Went here for a new muffler and tail pipe, was told I needed much more--for more than double $$$ what I'd expected to pay. Didn't trust him and went to East County exhaust in El Cajon instead. They told me I didn't really need all the other stuff and fixed it for less than half of Hanson's price. Got a good job and saved a bunch of money at East County instead. Should have checked Judy's book first, but only checked afterwards. How come all the good reviews for Ed Hanson's are written by the same person??????? more

I've carefully read all the reviews here. Then I checked out "review b.", who has over 1756 Five Star reviews to their credit. Since they also wrote most of the 5 Star reviews here, I think I smell a rat. Did "Ed Hanson's" pay "review b." to write all those good reviews?! Hmmmmm. I decided to be safe and bring my car to a different shop---with legitimate, honest, good reviews. more
