Good price, excellent job! 1/2/2012

If you have had the misfortune of having one of you appliances go bad on you, I heartily recommend using Economy Appliance Repair to make thing right again. Recently, my five year old refrigerator started warming up on me. It was during the holidays and I was worried about the food going bad. I turned the dials all the way cold, but it stayed just under fifty degrees. Economy-minded by nature, and having recently retired on disability, I turned to the internet figuring on fixing my refrigerator myself. Days of research passed until I realized I was in over my head, and my refrigerator had been running 24/7 for the past few days just to keep it at fifty degrees. I wasn?t sure how long it could keep that up. I turned to the yellow pages and saw Economy Appliance Repair that was based in St. Helena and served the whole Napa Valley. I called the number and spoke with the owner, Gunter Pirchner. He was on his way to a service call, but patiently listened to my refrigerator story. He offered several possibilities of things that could be wrong, but admitted that he couldn?t diagnose my problem over the phone. He said he could squeeze me in later in the day if I would like. He agreed to come over between 4 and 5, but if he could come earlier he would call first. Gunter arrived at 4 p.m. in his fully stocked, immaculate, parts/tool truck. He was a very friendly, polite man, carefully wiping his already clean shoes on the mat before he came into the house. He had a slight Austrian accent, saying he had made his home in the Napa Valley 26 years ago. He said he was originally trained in electronics. He said it was a natural progression for him to go into appliance repair, seeing modern appliances were all controlled with electronics anyway. He had taken training with General Electric, among others, to make the crossover years ago. And, just to look at him made you think of a ?can do? type of a fix-it man. He walked to the refrigerator and with testing this and that, bypassing this circuit board and other tests, he knew exactly what the problem was. I peered over his shoulder and he was more than willing to answer all my questions. Fortunately, he had a new circuit board in his truck, and before I knew it, it was installed and ready to go. As far as the ?Economy? goes in Economy Appliance Repair, the price was very reasonable. I had seen the prices for the type of refrigerators parts on the internet for my model. I said, ?How much do I owe you?? And was genuinely relived at the price. Gunter?s prices were much lower than I expected. He had listed a ?senior discount? of 12% on my final total. He gave me a calendar for the new year in case I needed his services again. He seems to be a craftsman extraordinarie, and a moral, honest man to boot. In conclusion, if anything of yours breaks, and if you realize that you can?t fix it yourself, give Gunter a call. After all, he is one of our Napa Valley neighbors. more
