I have been to this ""greasy spoon"" several times and every time I have gotten the feeling that I wasn't being treated as nicely as the BC students got treated. I know it's ""Eagles"" Deli, but come on! From the way the staff treats you, to how quickly you get your food, to even the quality of your food: if you are not a BC student these things won't be high quality. Eagle's prime business demographic is the BC kids, so they cater almost totally to these kids.. something tells me these kids are used to being catered to in general. more

are you kidding me? 2/25/2010

I had been warned prior to eating here that the burgers were no good, ""I'd rather have a Big Mac"" they cried. Surely, a place that Boston magazine had recognized as having the best Burgers in Boston in 2006 (must have been a slow year for burgers) would be good enough. They claim to be the second best place in the world to pig out, although I'm still trying to figure out what's so appealing about that. Eagles Deli is kind of gross, its a B.C. hangout I suppose, based more on location than anything, although I never really considered any part of Greater Boston a ""college area,"" with the possible exception of Harvard square, but even that is laced with tourists. In any event, the burgers here are bad, and let's face it, there's no effort here, clearly the burgers are pre-frozen, almost exactly what one would find at the grocery store. You know the one's I'm talking about, pre-shaped patties that any ""Joe the Plummer"" can throw on the grill and look like a real man for ""grilling."" But they don't taste good, same deal with the fries, also pre-frozen. Like I said, no effort, not even real cooking. The restaurant is set up like a cafeteria essentially, with a few pimply faced college kids filling up the room. Sadly, most people, not just the impoverished co-eds, don't know what a real burger is. I'm beginning to wonder if anyone in Boston does, for that matter. The cheese is unmelted, it comes on a very unflattering bun, with nothing else. If you want toppings you have to ask after it's all cooked, and the line cooks are anything but cooperative. Everything is served on a plate that must be from the '60's, and its just an embarrassment all around. They claim to be World Famous, but how? As I wrote previously in my blog, some places become famous for something, here, its for serving mammoth 5 pound burgers that come with 20 slices of cheese, 20 pieces of bacon and 5 pounds of fries. Hey, the guy on Man vs. Food came here, it must be great! The problem is, they become famous, and then what? Well, they stop caring about the food because it doesn't matter anymore, although I can't imagine a time when the food was ever good here. I have nothing else to say about Eagles Deli, its a greasy spoon, its not good, and I will never come back. more

Good food 2/1/2010

Never was here until yesterday after seeing it on Man Vs. Food. The burger was good, but unfortunately it took a good long while and when it did finally come, the place was so packed, i had 10 hungry customers literally hovering over my table, watching me eat. Not the restaurants fault, but that kinda took away from my meal that i waited 25 minutes for. Maybe they ought to consider buying out next door and expanding. Pros: Burgers, selction Cons: Way too crowded, lil pricy more

After hearing about this place I finally got the chance to try it out. The customer service is rude but that's how it's supposed to be at this place. I love it because it's like talking to a friend. True Bean-town! The burger's taste like they came straight off the grill. If you get a chance to try it out........DO IT!!!! Pros: Food, Prices Cons: Parking more

Editorial review from GrubHub 11/21/2008

I ordered the Brunch burger and the Athens omelet to get me to the delivery minimum. The delivery ticket had the incorrect city on it so the delivery guy went to Chestnut Hill - and this was AFTER someone from the delivery company called to confirm my address. My food arrived exactly 1.5 hours after I had ordered it (it was supposed to take 30-45 minutes). The bottom burger bun was a soggy mess and the lettuce and tomato were basically cooked. Granted, those were all due to being cooped up in a take-out box for an hour. However, the bacon was limp, the patty was greasy and flavorless, and the fries were also pretty bad. I had higher hopes for the omelet, which I saved for the next day's breakfast. It was supposed to have spinach, tomato, and feta. Unfortunately, it was even worse than the burger (but not as bad as the fries). The egg was spongy and partially burnt and there was no feta. more

Great sloppy food 10/24/2007

Great burgers - great chicken & sick fries. Service is lousy - tip accordingly. It is not a five star restaurant and you aren't there for the service. Go to Newbury St if you want smiles with your order. more

Fantastic Hamburgers 10/24/2007

Wether I've ordered meals or picked up deli to bring home, the food is always excellent. They have one of the best burgers I've had anywhere in the U.S. The portions are generous as well. The staff is polite and I've never had an order made wrong. If you are in the B.C., Cleveland Circle area, I recommend that you stop by. more

horrible customer service 10/16/2007

I've been there atleast 10 times and atleast 7 of those times they have screwed up our order. What bothers me the most is that they have the attitude that it's your fault they messed up the order. You must have forgot to order...not, we're very busy and must have forgot. Pros: large portions Cons: customer service more

Very Good Food 3/14/2006

The chicken finger dinner with a choice of two sides is well worth the $8. The burgers are delicious when they don't overcook them. Great place to go if you are seeking large portions at an affordable price. The service could use a little work....... Pros: Chicken Fingers, Burgers, Onion Rings Cons: Parking more

Eagle's burger. You have to have one. 3/3/2006

Their burger lunch special ($5 combo = 8oz burger, fries and soda) beats the chains! Eagles was plagued with really poor service. They catered to regulars and you had to fight to order and get your food out. It wasn't unusal to see someone standing by the door trying to put order in as regulars come in, and say ""Hey, the usual"" or people waiting for a burger and regulars would swipe them. One time I took a regulars' burger, who cut in front of me, to see if I get caught and I wasn't. But Eagles have updated their system (register at the end of the counter? How strange?), and they have friendlier staff now. If you live near Cleaveland Circle, you need to stop in and give their burgers a shot. If you had bad experience in the past, you should give them a shot. Pros: food, price Cons: service more

Eagle Deli 7/22/2005

The Eagles deli is a good spot for greasy food in large portions. The burger here is OK mainly because the people cooking them don't know what they are doing. Ask for rare, medium rare, medium and you get one thing - Well Done, never fails. Most of the people that work here are pretty rude to the customers. The breakfast here is top notch and most of the other food is good also. You want your 2lb burger well done order up... more

good food. bad service 6/4/2005

eagles has very good food that you can't miss. Just because they have good food, the employees think they can jerk around and act like jerks. The people who work here are very rude, and often ailenate customers. Other than that, they're burgers are excellent, and so are thier breakfasts. It is a bit pricy, don't go to eagles if you only have a couple dollors on you. I would recommend going there. Pros: great burgers, great breakfast, great selection Cons: rude employees, pricy more
