Editorial review from Citysearch 7/18/2014

I highly don’t recommend Dr. Pattmakom. It was my very first pregnancy and a difficult one from the very beginning. I spotted throughout my pregnancy. I hardly ever saw Dr. Pattamakom. It was usually the nurse practioners. I asked why I was bleeding, their response was, ""it just happens."" There is no explanation for it. One day I had to go see the Dr. because I was in a lot of pain. The doctor told me it's normal ligament pains. I was insisting on having an ultrasound done, I just didn't feel right. She tells me it's my first pregnancy and all these feelings are new to me and I should not be alarmed. ""It's normal"" So, what did I do? I listened to the doctor even though my pain got worse. I even went to work the next day. The pain was unbearable and it would come and go. I was thinking to myself, am I having contractions. Because the pain would come closer and closer from eachother. Before I knew it, my co-worker pointed out the pool of blood on the floor, not realizing it was me. They called the ambulance and since my work was close to St. John's hospital I was driven there. They did an ultrasound on me and my amniotic sac was pertruding out of my cervix. I was 5 cm dialated! I was 23 weeks pregnant and gave birth to a 1 lb 9 oz. baby boy. The next 4 months was heartwrenching. My son suffered sepsis, bowel obstruction, hernia, blood transfusions, PDA...the list goes on and on. We almost lost him twice because of the sepsis. My son is 7 now. He is doing well although he has low muscle tone and working on strengthening his core. I know, I know, he is alive and well, BUT he should have never gone through what he went through had Dr. Pattamakom listened to me on my last visit with her. The day after I gave birth, I got a call from Dr. Pattamakom. She told me she was sorry of what happened and she had the nerve to tell me, ""From your chart it says that you have been having problems with your pregnancy from the very beginning."" Well, duh! It's just now you realized that? Of course I did not say that to her, but I should have. For all the moms who have successful stories with her, consider yourself lucky. Unfortunately I wasn’t. more

Never Again 5/15/2012

Dr. Pattamakom and Diesfeld are excellent doctors. They truly care about their patients. However, the office staff is very unfriendly, incompetent, rude, and inefficient, and these are the reasons why I'm hesitant to recommend these doctors to friends and family. I remember one extremely rude office staff, Patti, calling in my prescription medication at the wrong pharmacy. I was completley frustrated after waiting for hours at the pharmacy where I specifically asked her to order my pescription, the same pharmacy where I always pick up all prescriptions from Pattamakom. After a few hours of waiting, I was told by the pharmacy tech that my prescription was never ordered and to perhaps check another pharmacy in town. It was late at night and I was on my first trimester of my very first pregnancy, and I really needed my medicine. Starving, tired from work, and desperate to get my medicine before heading home, I drove to another pharmacy in town. Sure enough, Patti carelessly called it in at another drug store. No apologies or nothing from the office staff, and I never really made a big deal out of it because I wanted to maintain a friendly relationship with the office since I had no choice but see/interact with them during my doctor visits. She did this twice to me (and perhaps to other patients as well) and never once apologized. In fact, when I confronted her on the phone, she sounded impatient and angry at me. Months later, I had to ask help from Catherine with medical records. I requested for her to send my medical records to another doctor. She misinformed me and stated that there was a fee and a 2-week turn-around-time, which surprised me because the last time I requested for this to be done, it was handled on the same day by another staff, Katie. I was later told by Erin that Catherine was misinformed and apologized on her behalf. I was very understanding and asked Erin to follow up with Catherine to make sure this was done ASAP before I see my new doctor in 3 days. A day before my scheduled appointment with the new doctor, I was informed by his office at 4:30 PM that they still have not received my medical records. I called Pattamakom/Diesfeld's office and tried to speak with Catherine, but instead of apologizing and helping me out, she placed me on hold for about 5 minutes, which to me was long time, especially since the other office was about to close and I wanted to make sure they receive my records before my early morning appointment tomorrow. I had to beg another impatient office staff, Julie to help me. Had I not called Catherine, nothing would have been done and my new doctor would not have received any of my records to better assess me on my appointment day. There were more frustrating incidents but these two were the most disappointing encounters I had. I have no complaints about the doctors, but my advice to you is if you're pregnant and looking for an excellent prenatal care, go somewhere else. The office is too busy and rude. You literally have to be on your toes and on their faces to get anything done the right way. They're not sympathetic, patient, and efficient. I personally believe that the office/admin staff is the backbone of any business and it can either break or make the business. These two excellent doctors deserve a better office stafff in order for their business to thrive. more

ok, not great 3/29/2012

I used Dr. P many years ago for a cyst i had and she was excellent. Now i am 36, having my first baby. Although I like Dr. P, there is a level of detachment and feeling hurried to finish your appointment. She is very busy and i have literally had appointments which lasted 5 minutes. Since this is my first pregnancy and i have had lots of past miscarriages, etc, i would have liked a doctor to take a bit more time with me. So, it just feels not personal to me, although again she is a very nice doctor and i have never had to wait more than 10 minutes to see her. I am 27 weeks pregnant, so i will be able to add more after my delivery. I will say that she dismisses alot and i would recommend having a separate GP. I had Bronchitis and she told me to drink honey. I also have a few previous medical issues which require daily medication which are not harmful for the baby and she is reluctant to give them to me, which has been inconvienent considering i have taken these meds for 15 years. Staff has always been nice. Parking not an issue. This is my only child, but i would probably choose a different obgyn next time. more

BEWARE!! 3/26/2012

I usually do not write reviews or ever complain, but I have to.. I have had the absolute worst experience with this practice. The staff are so unprofessional and down right rude. which is entirely uncalled for especially when you are in the midst of pregnancy and YOU are paying THEM. Not to mention that they will over charge you and I still have not got my reimbursement check for the very large deposit that I gave them my first visit. It has been well over 4 months now and they just keep telling me it's in the mail. And if that isn't enough, my midwife, Kathy, who I liked, quit after 3 months of my going there because she said that she was just too frustrated and upset because they were overworking her and underpaying her and I have a good feeling that she probably had a hard time getting along with the staff who are so 'catty', which I think is just not acceptable for a medical practice. You can choose to go where you wish, but I highly recommend that you stay far away from this practice!!! more

I have seen Dr, Sis for several years about 15 years and I would not trade for anything, A few times I might of had to wait for her to be done seeing other patients, but thats ok with me because I know that I am going to get that same time. She is NOT one of these doctors that get you in spends 5 mins and your on your way. Dr Sis, will answer all your questions and make sure you fully understand before you leave her office....In my opinion we need MORE Drs. like Dr. Sis!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!\r \r K. Hollenbeck Cons: Parking is tight but worth it more

My favorite doctor 6/15/2008

I love Dr. Sis Pattamakom. I have been her patient for almost 15 years; she cared for me before, during, and after my pregnancy and delivered my beautiful healthy little boy. She is very caring, knowledgeable, thorough, and easy to talk to. The office staff is so friendly and nice. The midwives are amazing when you can't get in to see Dr. Sis. She sets the standard to which I judge all doctors by. I have seen my fair share of doctors through the years but the one that has remained my favorite and the only one I trust with my ""female"" care is her. I have recommended her to many people and they all feel the same about her as I do. Thank you Dr. Sis and staff for excellent care for 15 years . Pros: Everything Cons: Nothing more

Dr. ""I don't know"" 6/8/2007

I went to her hoping that she could fix my problem and take away my sharp and annoying pain on my lower abdomen area. But after she had make me go through all the tests, ultra sounds, lx-rays lab work, several visits she tells me that she doesn't know what the problem is. I mean come on!? I went to her cause she is a doctor she has to know what she is doing... And for her to say "" Oh, i'm a doctor but i don't know"" All that money i had to pay her wouldn't been worth it if she would what the heck she was doing. And i still make her payments till this day.\r \r I found out later from another doctor that i just had painful cramps due to that i stopped taking birth control pills that caused all that pain. I now take the b-pills again and i don't have that problem anymore. Cons: Doctor that doesn't know how to treat patients more
