Parmigiana and Antiques 8/23/2005

This quirkly little restaurant offers Italian Food and Antiques. (The order they come in is up to you.) Upon entering, you may ask "Am I about to eat in someone's living room?" Or, "Did I walk into an antique shop?" Well..yes, you did (or will). Antiques adorn the walls and corners of this place...you will see vases, dolls, stands, tables, pictures and other odds and ends. Last time my family ate there,we had an antique chair near us. But seriously, I prefer the Italian cuisine here over most in the area. (Even over Tutto A Modo Mio, which is a good place!) Whether you like antiques or not, you will love the food. It is good, tasty, and there is plenty of it. Meals come with a salad dressed in a Balsamic Vinegarette, tomatoes, grapes, and even green beans at times, also with your meal comes a plate of Bruschetta for your table. The salad is very good; the Bruschetta is great! DiPalma is known for its sauce-any pasta adorned with this sauce smiles! Dipping bread into this sauce is a must! The sauce is rich, tasty, and robust. Entrees vary by day, and for holidays, there are special menus. My family and I went for Mother's Day, and we ate plenty. Holiday menus are limited but you will most likely find something you will enjoy. As I recall, besides the salad and Bruschetta, we got three appetizers before the meal. The antipasto and breaded zucchini that day were great treats! I believe we all brought home doggy bags that day. While you digest your food, you can observe and gaze at the antiques. The Chicken Parm is one of the best there...and the Alfredo Sauce dishes are good. But if you prefer a thinner sauce, then you're out of luck. The Alfredo sauce is filling! It's still tasty. Try the Mushroom Fiiled Tortellini with Alfredo sauce if available that day. The pasta dishes are done well, and I hear their Shrimp dishes are quite the catch. I enjoyed Grandmas meatballs, which is an appetizer, but they are a bit soft for me. Most people I know go crazy over these appetizers! Desserts are Italian like Gelato, Spumoni and Italian Cheesecake, as well as Sorbet. If you like these desserts, you are in luck. I prefer a Creme Brulee but since DiPalma's does not offer such a dessert, I stick to a Cappucino, which is done well here. You can also enjoy an espresso if you like. Oh, by the way..it is a BYOB place and, this is big....the prices are very decent. For what you are paying for and what you get (which is plentiful), you will end up smiling. The downside to this place? Limited parking and it is an average sized restaurant. Otherwise, please visit...you might just end up taking home an antique clock! more
