OK, it was Friday night, after midnight and I was bored and hungry. So I decided to check out a local sports bar where i could get something hot to eat and maybe a drink while i wait. I called ahead to Da Bomb Sports Bar in Lithonia because I had never been there and wanted to know if they charged a cover to enter. The lady who answered the phone said it was a 5.00 cover. Ok cool. I arrived at Da Bomb 20 mins later. it appeared to be ok from the outside, a well lit area right of I-20 and Evans Milll. Only a few empty parking spaces. So i go to the door. The host/bouncer said ""you know it's 10.00 to enter. I responded ""I called 20 minutes ago and the lady said it was a 5.00 cover charge"". He looked perplexed but insisted it was 10.00. I peeped around him to scan the club from the door and told him ""no thanks, this isn""t a 10.00 spot"". It was more on the line of Bigalow's on the inside and less like Scores. I was not impressed. I was not going to pay 10.00 to enter an establishment to order food and a drink. I would have paid 5.00 but dont understand why the sports bars in he Atlanta's African American community tend to charge a cover just to enter and spend more money. So, I left that spot and went to Jay's Place in Stone Mountain. No cover, larger crowd, pool tables, live dij, hot food, and strong drinks. So, I ended up enjoying the night after all.
