I wish I never got married there 4/18/2011

My husband and I did get married there in July 2008. The memories are so painful. To say the least, there was no chef, 2 wait staff for the entire wedding, and so many more issues to follow. They ran out of food and alcohol. They weren't even set up when we arrived. I filed a judgment in court. We came to an agreement to be paid back for some of the issues that took place. When Paul Vincent sold the restaurant to the Old Dailey Inn, money went into an escrow account for us. It is still sitting there. They do not feel that we are entitled to it. I can't find an attorney to represent us. I have done everything myself. We are going on 3 years of marriage and I cry every time i have to deal with this issue. I want to go back to the place and have dinner on our anniversary and try to put this behind us, but it looks like that may never be able to happen. I just pray it would. more

We helped Jenna find a new place and ended up catering her rehearsal dinner. (last review) Thinking of getting married or planning a special event? BEWARE 1/26/2010

This is a long story but it is one that I think everyone should know. I got engage Xmas eve 2008, and like any other bride I began my search for the perfect wedding facility. Well in January of that same year my fianc? and I both fell in love with the Crooked Lake House, and we booked it for a 2000 dollar deposit. After that by word of mouth I had heard many mixed reviews about it, though most were good, some of them started to make me feel a little uneasy. But my family reassured, like any supportive family would that this was the right place, and everything is going to be fine. Well being the first to plan a wedding in my family, we were all blinded by Paul Vincent the owner. First blinded by his very vague and insufficient contract that required us to make payments, the first one being in May, the next one in December, and the final one 2 weeks before the wedding. This was as Paul put it ?to make it a little easier on us?. We made our 1st May payment of 3500 dollars, only to find out two months later that Paul has closed his restaurant. We didn?t even have the peace of mind to find this out from Paul himself. We heard through newspaper articles and worried friends. Of course wanting to find out what was going on we tried to contact him, trying for 2 weeks before he finally decided to face us in a meeting, he told us that he had to close the restaurant due to financial hardships. Not telling us the complete truth about those hardships he told us that he was still planning on holding all his weddings, but catering them out. Not fully trusting him we continued to questioning that possibility, asking how many weddings did he have planned and who he had picked as caterers, but still in his sly and sneaking ways he convinced my family and I that he could do. Pros: Beautiful Place Cons: Aweful Owner Paul Vincent more
