Coupland's Disrespectful Staff 5/23/2010

I have been going to Coupland’s for years, and last night we went out there with high expectations of having an amazing evening with family and friends...well we were very wrong. I am still in awe of how there staff can treat costumers, much less women and teenage girls. I have never in my life seen a staff handle themselves in such a rude, immature, and disrespectful manner. To have a member of what use to be one of the best family dance halls, in my eyes tell my mother to shut up and be cursing towards my brother and husband, is beyond the boundaries of respect, as well as conducting yourself in a professional manner. Lets not forget the girl who thinks she is just high and mighty, her back talking immature attitude was enough to send anyone over the edge. And for the owner I suggest you hand pick a better staff , maybe one that will not only appreciate your costumers, but treats them with respect. You should of been man enough to not only handle your staff, or apologize for their lack of respect and maturity. To me you are a pretty crappie business owner, and maybe next time you wont pick the bottom of the barrel to help run your establishment. Coupland's was a far better place, from the people, staff, atmosphere and experience when it was ran by it's old owner. So if you are thinking of even wasting your time on this place, I wouldn't. It will just leave you upset and wishing you had waiting your time or money, do yourself a favor go to a much nicer and better quality establishment!! Thank you to the staff at Coupland's Dance Hall for ruining 30 guest evening!!! I can honestly say none of us will ever be going back to Couplands, it was an unforgettable and unforgivable experience.\r Cons: STAFF and MANAGMENT more

Coupland's owner needs to do a better job hiring staff. 5/23/2010

We thought Coupland's would be a charming place to go dancing with friends, but the rude, bad mannered, and rough staff spoiled the ""Take a Two Step Back in Time"" experience . We were not drinking alcohol, but maybe we should have in order to endure the impolite staff. My advice to anyone wanting to be treated with respect, appreciated for the business you are bringing into an establishment, as well as save yourself a long drive...find another venue in Austin to enjoy a night out with friends!!!!\r \r Cons: Horrible staff more

We locals all eat here 7/12/2007

I've never posted a restaurant review, but I want to spread the word about the Old Coupland Inn. We live in Coupland, so go there regularly. We only have one restaurant, and thankfully, it is a good one. Service is super friendly. The atmosphere is great too, in a beautiful, real historic building with some period and some Texas farm country decor. It used to be a pharmacy, now it's a restaurant, but otherwise the building is the same as it was over 100 years ago, or at least it feels like it. You can dress up or dress down. We've gone for special occasions, taken all our family when they've come to visit, but usually just go for dinner with the kids. We always see friends and neighbors there. We like to start with a pitcher of Shiner while we make up our minds. The BBQ is great, even the chicken, which is usually an afterthought at other places. The salmon is my other favorite if I want something lighter. If you don't want it well done, order it very rare. It will come rare to medium-rare. My husband just named the same two items as his favorites. The steak is OK too, just not usually what I'm in the mood for when I go. My Mom, who is not much of a meat-eater, found plenty of choices to fill up on. Let them know if you don't want butter on your new potatoes, which come with the salmon. Otherwise they're very generous with it. You can get seconds on sides -- my favorite is the cole slaw. You may want to save room for their great cobblers though. They always have apple, peach, and blackberry. The default is 'a la mode.' It's very family-friendly. They have a kids' menu of meals, but you can get a kids' item (from a limited selection) free with an adult entree. It's not that far out, just 20-25 minutes east of Pflugerville, or 10 minutes from Elgin or Taylor. From Round Rock, it's 25-30 minutes -- go through Hutto on 79 and take 1660 south to Hwy. 95. It's worth the trip to enjoy this small town favorite -- a cliche, but it's true. Pros: historic atmosphere, everyone is treated like a local Cons: only open Thursday, Friday ,and Saturday nights more
