Is ?Brian G? a disgruntled former employee? His review is so catty and over-the-top that it sounds fabricated. Certainly, it?s not consistent with my experience with the staff at Corona del Mar Animal Hospital. Everyone there has always been very caring and professional with me. I would not hesitate to recommend the Corona del Mar Animal Hospital to every pet owner I know. more

Annoying Staff 1/19/2011

I wish I could give this place zero stars. Let me break down my experience from the start. This is a very charming animal hospital from the outside - has a very spanish feel, red tiles etc. When you walk through the door, you don't feel like you're in a sterile hospital, it feels very homey. There were, I think 5 girls working upfront, and not one of them stopped their "important" conversations to greet me. I was the ONLY person there and it took them at least 2 minutes to acknowledge me. Finally, an asian women asks, "Can I help you?" I respond with, "Yes, I have an appointment at 11:30 for my new puppy." She responds, "And what's your name?" she might as well have said "ya, so, what's you're effing name?" I gave her my name and she says, "You're appointment was at 11:00, not 11:30, you'll have to drop your pet off or you can wait until noon before the doctor can see you." I didn't want to agrue, but I am very maticulous with my scheduling and rarely ever make a mistake like that. So, more

The best for your pet! 4/24/2010

CDM Animal / Vet Hospital has been our only Veterinarian Hospital and Doctors for well over 20 years. From Jay (at the front desk) as well as anyone who greets you to any of the Doctors (ours has been Dr. Aten) your pet could not be in better hands! We trust them with our extended family members and have recommended them countless time to friends and associates with never ever hearing anything but an enormous 'Thank you' in return. I often drive in from Los Angeles to have them care for one of the 'brood'. Pros: Our Vet for over 20 Years. Professional and Caring more

Friendly Staff & Loving Doctors! 3/6/2009

I've been a loyal client at Corona del Mar Animal Hospital for many years. I'm there at least once a week with my bulldogs for grooming! They do the best job and really understand the breed and all their nasty skin problem! They use the best products and are actually less expensive then Newport Center and Newport Animal Hospital. Pros: Great Atmosphere! more

Best Vet's in Orange County 10/16/2008

I have been taking my cavalier king charles to this animal hospital since she was a pup. She has received the greatest care from both the staff and all the doctor's. They are always prompt to take care of her and are always do whatever is needed for her health and happiness! Pros: They really care! Cons: NONE! more

Not great at diagnosis 9/14/2008

Took my beloved to this vet for 10 years. They failed to properly diagnose cancer, called it allergies and pinched nerve. Symptoms were classic cancer that should have sent signals and could have been readily diagnosed with ultrasound, but this was not suggested and even discouraged. Perhaps it is because they don't offer it. For whatever reason, my dog's life has been truncated needlessly. Same thing happened to two friend's dogs there. One did not know what happened to her dog until it started happening to mine, and I took her to UC Davis, who gave me the grim news. At that point it was fatal. more

Zero for 3; fatal misdiagnoses 9/14/2008

Took my beloved to this vet for 10 years. They failed to properly diagnose cancer, called it allergies and pinched nerve. This went on for over one year. Symptoms were classic hemangiosarcoma that should have sent signals and could have been readily diagnosed with ultrasound, but this was not suggested and even discouraged. Perhaps it is because they don't offer it. Finally, I took her to UC Davis, where she had an ultrasound and was diagnosed that same day. She had surgery the next day, but I got the grim news that it is fatal. For whatever reason, my dog's life has been truncated needlessly. Same thing happened to two friend's dogs there. Both of them died. One friend did not know what happened to her dog until mine got diagnosed (one year after her dog's death). This is too common of a situation for this to be missed three times by this vet. Davis recommends an annual check up with an ultrasound to catch this disease early. I am grieving over what I could have done but did not. Cons: My dog is dying more

Great Vet & Staff 4/24/2007

Many years ago, before we moved to Orange County, we were visiting on holiday with our puppy who got attacked by another dog. Several passersby who witnessed the attack stopped to help & two separately recommended Corona Del Mar Pet Hospital. We rushed him there, and although they were closing, they took him in and got him all fixed up. Now that we've moved here, they were the first vet I considered. I still talked around to other pet owners, and everyone had wonderful things to say about CDM Animal Hospital, including a student of mine who was interning for a different vet in the area. They are fantastic. We were sad to leave our prior vet (Dr. Stan Kunin in Woodland Hills - also Top Notch!), but so happy to have Skipper in Dr. Aten's care! Pros: Service, Location, Genuine Care and Warmth of Staff Cons: If you happen to walk your dog nearby, he'll insist on going in for a visit! more
