Comfort Suites Lakeside Resort

The pool looked to have swamp water. There was no supervision on water slide children were playing like monkeys and was dangerous. The "tiki bar" is not open it has storage material in it. The resturant has the worst customer service very slow and food so so. The water park was a PVC pipe draining water I could make a better one my self in my yard next time I will it would be cheaper. Heard a lot of noise from my suite. Front desk very rude. It was so bad we left early. more

Good: The parking lot.. Bad: Service, cleanliness. Smell. Dirty pool area.. Improvements: Clean and disinfect the place. Fix and clean the pool area.. Other: I believe the owner and his family are writing positive reviews of this place. It is DISGUSTING and the pics on the website are from the opening day and not even close. The tiki bar in the pool is a storage area of rusted speakers and broked fans. The PPM in the pool is low (google PPM pool levels) as I tested it. The room was presented well, but dirty. Pacifies under the bed suggest the maids do not clean with much effort. You get free MnM's if you move the couch! Haha. Seriously, this place is gross!. more

Overview: Having a hotel in Houghton Lake like the Comfort Suites is a great place to relax and have the feeling of comforts of home, they make you feel welcomed. When we went shopping, I was appauld by the local business' and business owners bad talk about this hotel. Every buiness has its ups and down, maybe they should take a look at their own history. I was pleased to have my family stay here, and will be back, in any season, and will recommend the "Comfort Suites" to everyone I know and share the features of hotel to all my business associates. Good service, great staff, fantastic food, beautiful place. Kind words will get you places. . . . Keep up the good work, staff & management, your heart's are in the right place. more

Pool Party: First off let me say that this is a great place to have a birthday party for your children. All the kids that attended had a great time. more

loved the service here: we have never stayed at a hotel as nice as this before. we were celebrating our one year anniversary and went with the romantic package. the service was verry nice all the employees were extremely helpful with anything we needed. our room came with champagne and chocalate covered strawberries which were incredible. but neither of us like champagne and the employees were very happy to switch it with another drink we preffered. i would definatly go back on another vacation. more

This Hotel is awsome the breakfast is better than any of the local restaurants I just cant beleive it!!!!! And the restaraunt attached has one of the most unique menus for this area I never seen such a selecton steaks seafood pizza and even mexican and eastern indian food WOW!!!!! more

I went to 2 other hotels before this one. We had a massive power outage from a storm that came through. I have an infant daughter and 2 sons that could not go a night without heat. First we tried Comfort Inn. I had just enough cash to pay for the room. Their they wanted an extra 50 deposit for" damages that might occur'. I didnt have it so they refused to let us stay even though i was a local. Next we went to Super 8. We were told that their rooms were on hold for the consumers workers. Finally i called Comfort Suites. They got us right in and gave us a discount. I would stay here again. more

Hi! I am planning my Big Day at this Houghton Lake Hotel! I love it there! Huge place, and People are friendly! It is right on the lake and it is amaznig the view! I want to comment on the two ladies that are now running the place! Very good people and have been nothing but nice and willing to work with me! I think that anyone looking for a fun place to go and have a awesome time should go there! Be sure to enjoy the view! :) more

We've stayed at this place two years in a row for family reunions and haven't had any problems -- staff was friendly, room was clean, hot tub worked reasonably well. We like this place because of the hot tub suites and because it's on the lake. I'm assuming any negative reviews were due to a bad day or perhaps to past management. However, because of the indoor water park, this place is very popular with families that have young children, which means it can get noisy and the breakfast lounge can get crowded. If this is a problem for you, you'd be better off staying at the Holiday Inn in town more

Fun for kids! This hotel was nice and spacious and the rooms were clean and comfortable. I asked for a crib when we checked in and it was brought to our room promptly. The check in/out was easy and we had no problems. It is on a beautiful huge lake and there are chairs if guests want to sit outside and enjoy the view. There is also a pier going out into the water. We knew from previous reviews that they are having some kind of problems with their liquor license so the Tiki Bar at the pool is still closed. We don't really care if we couldn't get alcoholic beverages, but it does seem to me they could open it to serve non alcoholic drinks and snacks! The water slide is awesome! The Lazy River is a joke though because there are NO inner tubes to use so I don't see the point. They do allow the general public who are not guests at the hotel to use the pool area for $10 and it seemed more crowded than other pools we used on our trip but then it was a holiday weekend. They have a shallow area for the smaller children with water spouts and sprinklers that is really fun. But the bottom is VERY slippery and we had to hold our toddler's hands at all times while they were in it so they wouldn't fall. They need to roughen up the bottom somehow or put non slip decals on the bottom. The pool was pretty crowded and I had planned to sit and watch my grandsons on the water slide but it was way too hot and humid for the comfort of people who weren't in the water. The water seems to be circulated throughout all of the pool area and the hot tub is really just a place to sit in the water and not really a hot tub at all. But the water slide was so much fun that my grandsons just wanted to stay at the hotel and we never even went to the mini golf course or go cart tracks like we had planned! We ate dinner at the restaurant and even though the bar is still closed, the food was really good. more

My family of 5 just returned from our trip to Comfort Suites Houghton Lake and I am happy to say we enjoyed ourselves very much. (Unfortunately I read the reviews just prior to heading out on the trip, and I was anxious the entire drive.) The room was clean and beautiful. The service was great, especially the person who was in charge of the breakfast. He couldn't do enough to help us. So many choices for breakfast, it was great. I walked 4 miles each day I was there on the treadmill in the fitness center. All the equipment worked just fine. I was disappointed that there wasn't an actual beach, but that isn't their fault, they never claimed to have a beach. If the kids wanted to go swimming in the lake they could have, beach or no beach. The pool kept them busy, although the water was too cold for me, especially for being an indoor pool. The restaurant food was great, we ate there each night we were there, and for a family of five were surprised at the cost. $4.99 for an appetizer of hot spinach and artichoke dip, most restaurants charge $7.99 or 4.99. It was delicious. more

We booked four rooms for a family outing. We had excellent service. The restaurant had excellent service and the food was fantastic. The only thing they could use is a little more help, staff wise. The staff was very helpful, but they were understaffed. Our rooms were clean, the pool area was fantastic. I would definitely come back to this hotel!!!! more

The breakfast was good, everyone in our family found something they liked. It was hot and tasted good, not too busy in the eating area. more

Excellent Business Meeting or Training Site As president of a statewide professional association, I would highly recommend this facility for business meetings and training seminars. My association's experience in July of 2004 was excellent. The meeting and training rooms were spacious, with excellent audio visual capabilities. The meals were very good, rooms beautiful, and service outstanding. The lakefront location and indoor water park would make it an excellent family vacation spot as well. more
