This zoo is great! We had to come back a couple of times to see the whole park. My three year old loved it but it is a lot of walking for him! We will be back this summer and during their Holiday Lights! more

A nice break 11/19/2009

The zoo is a nice way to see and learn about exotic and wild animals. unless you plan to go to an african safari, This is it! nice and spacious, clean and nursing stations. also aquarium is beautiful! Being a member really is a plus because you can go to all special events like wild lights etc, and free parking. you know whats going on ahead because members get books. to the one dissappointed review I would say don't let some bad rep ruin the whole experience. Call ahead ask questions. Should have spoken to guest services or relations about your confusion. I'm sure they would have made it right. Good luck next time. Also you can rent motorized wheels for the one that has trouble walking. Also if some workers were not as informational as you like ask another. Some probably were young volunteers. Pros: Animals you don't see up close everyday Cons: More restaurants more kid rides please more

Great Zoo!! 7/11/2009

I think The Columbus Zoo is totally awesome, something for everyone. My 3 grandchildren have such a good time every time they go. I plan on investing in a season pass. Very clean!! more

Very unhappy 7/22/2008

I went to the zoo with my friends family and my friends sister has a prosthesis leg. She is unable to swim so we didn't buy a ticket for her. Didn't think we needed to, but when we got to the gate the young man woulndn't let her in, but he did tell us if she was in a wheelchair her and the person pushing her would be let in for 'FREE" how is that that fair??? Very confussed and very, very unhappy and I don't know if I will return in the future because how my friends sister was treated. Pros: Water park is nice Cons: Animals looked over heated. Worker's need to know what's going on. more

A great family place 4/23/2007

I grew up in Columbus in the 70's and 80's and saw Jack Hanna take the zoo from small and old to the great place it is today. We go back at least once a year to visit the zoo and my kids love it!!! It is hard to see it all in a day and be ready to walk a lot. The animals are in wonderful habitats and every year the exhibits get better. It is also a reasonable day for a family. You can pack a picnic and save on food. There are great places to sit and enjoy a picnic and relax. It is a great place to go anytime of the year and even on crowded days there is plenty of room to move around. The volunteers that are at the exhibits are a great resource and always have fun bits of information and are more than willing to answer questions. There are a lot of field trips in April and May, so it can get crowded with large groups. more

Great zoo 11/29/2005

We really enjoyed our trip to the zoo a few months ago. Our daughter really enjoyed it. They have a lot of animals that we don't have in our area. The Aquarium was very nice, they have lots of exhibits. The zoo is pretty shady and they have water mist spots to help you cool down. This is a great place for the whole family to spend the day! more

Best Zoo we have ever been too. 11/9/2005

When I was 12 years old I worked at the zoo during the summer 2 days a week. I learned quite bit about the animals and couldn't wait to have my own children to share some of my experiences. It was several years later that I had me children but one of my favorite things to do with them is take them to the Columbus Zoo. We love to see the animals, and they love the petting zoo area because they can feed the animals. The Columbus Zoo is a Top Notch Zoo and I think it just keeps getting better. more

Great Zoo 11/9/2005

This is a great zoo, it's made by Jack Hannah so you know to expect something good. It's a cool, shaded place to go in the summer and see what crazy anctics the animals are up to! The manatees are not to be missed. They have overpriced food, but also have built a picnic ground so you can pack sandwiches, fruit, and drinks for a fraction of the cost and have a picnic on the benches. What a great way to spend the day. more

Great Zoo 11/9/2005

The Columbus Zoo is wonderful. The aquarium is my favorite part, and you can watch divers feeding the fish at certain times. The newer Australia exhibit is also a lot of fun. Everyone from young to old will enjoy a visit. more

I been there several times already 11/2/2005

The columbus zoo is pretty fun, i go there at least once a year. Its a great place to go with friends, see the animals. Since their new addition of the "petting zoo" its even more interesting! The Zoo is a nice place to go with familys and friends. It is very clean, and safe as well. PROS: Petting Zoo CONS: Not that cheap more

Fun for the entire Family 9/22/2005

We were at the Columbus Zoo to view the baby elephant that they had on display, the kids loved it! They currently have several areas under construction making it hard to view many of the animals. We were there on a Saturday and it was too crowded, making it impossible to see all of their exhibits. I would recommend going during the week or during the early hours on the weekend. We plan to return during their Winter Wonderlight display during the holiday season. more

Great for the kids! 9/10/2005

I am definatley very impressed with the Columbus zoo. I cannot say enough great things about it! The animals and displays are one of a kind. And the shows and exhibits are wonderful! Thy have lots of things that appeal to the younger ones, while a grown-up can enjoy it as well. the park is exceptionally clean, and well kept. I reccomend getting a season pass if you live close enough to go often! Well worth the money! more

so much fun! 9/6/2005

I went to the night lights exhibt and students and others get discounts. although it sucked in the sense that you cant see someo f the animals if they are sleeping or tired, but its really pretty! great date place too and perfect for people of all ages more

Good Day Trip 9/5/2005

The Columbus Zoo is cool. It's a little expensive but it's worth it. It has nice attractions that are well-kept. It's not too big, either, so you can see everything in one day. Recommended. more

Wonderful zoo to visit 9/2/2005

Everyone knows Jack Hanna, so you definately want to see his zoo. They have so many neat exhibits, like the manatees, and the kangaroos, and lots of neat shows that showcase certain animals. They are adding a new exhibit now and I am anxious to see it. If you are a member of another zoo you are able to get a discout at the Columbus Zoo. There is so much to see that you can't do it all in one day. Another nice thing is that there is a picnic area, so you can bring in your own food, which is a big money saver! The memberships are relatively inexpensive and kids love it more

It was ok!! 8/18/2005

Maybe I missed somthing. I saw the whole park in 4 hours. Pros: many cool off areas, not too crowded, food Cons: sleeping animals, empty cages more

Okay 8/14/2005

It's a nice zoo with a lot of animals, but it is very large and you have to do quite a bit of walking. We could barely see the whole park in one day. Also, the exhibits aren't very naturalistic. Pros: variety of animals Cons: a lot of walking, very crowded more

Great Zoo for Kids 7/24/2005

We just took our kids to the Columbus zoo and they really liked it! It's a Big zoo and has quite a bit of shaded walking paths and water mists the kids can run through to help them keep cool (which they really loved). If you're near Columbus you'll want to check it out. more

zoofari 7/13/2005

love this zoo and would highly recomend doing their annual fundraiser that they call zoofari. awesome time and food and a great value for what you pay. more

A Cheap and Fun Day Out (With a Little Savvy...) 5/28/2005

My preschooler loves the Columbus Zoo's combination of standard animal watching, (especially the manatees), rides, and stellar playgrounds. There is a food court but it tends to be quite expensive. Parking and admission fees can add up. But their memberships are extremely reasonably priced and include free parking -- with membership and a bag lunch, this is an inexpensive and exciting day out.
