I just want to tell anyone looking for a place to live in Daytona Beach, that Colonial Colony South is one of the best or the best place they can find,We have lived here almost 8yrs. and the people that own and run this place are the most giving I have ever meet. Not only do they have free dinners for all that live here on several different holiday's but so much more. They have helped us out so many times and we will never be able to thank them the way they need to be thanked. So if you are looking for a family place to live and a place where the people care about what you think or need then you should check out this place you will love it . more

I had to comment after reading the first ratings statment that was so untrue. I have worked at Colonial Colony for over 40 years, and now own a home within the community. It has been owned by the same family since it was developed in 1966. It has continually been up-graded through the years. The Votran Bus Service picks residents up at their home and takes them to either Publix, Super Walmart, or to the Volusia Mall. The bus service then returns riders back to their home for FREE! The South Clubhouse was completely renovated and is beautiful. There are 5 miles of privately maintained roads, the mail is delivered to each home, and garbage is picked up at the residents home twice a week. There are two pools, one is heated throughout winter. Stop in and talk to the residents that are walking, bike riding, bocce playing, or just swimming and lazing around the pool areas. Find out why living at Colonial Colony is such a wonderful place to call home. more

DON'T MOVE HERE 12/13/2009

Spoken like a true sales person. Everyone's opinion will differ in the ""park"" should you ask. VOTRAN GOLD is the CITYS transportaion NOT the parks and it is NOT FREE, it's a nominal fee and you need to get qualified to ride it, of course they will return you to your home. Duhhhh. If you want to ride a regular VOTRAN bus, you have to walk to the bus stop. The mail delivery is a plus and the South Clubhouse was renovated and is beautiful (perhaps THAT'S why they raise the lot rent every year even though Social Security has not given it's seniors a raise) and don't think for a second the residents can use THAT as a shelter from an approaching hurricane even though it IS the strongest building in the park. It's an insurance risk they say. The dollar weed is the only thing that makes the grounds look green, back in the day, yes, they did take ALOT better care of the grounds, now it's up to the individual resident, when you are on a fixed income, who can afford that AND their high lot rent (it is cheaper than any other park though). Just thought I'd clarify a few things and I stand by what I previously wrote which comes from first hand experience. If you need something done around your home, there is a FEE, and you'd better not stop the hired help to ask ANY sort of question, that's a BIG no-no, they'll just tell you to call the office. I'd move if I could afford to but I can't and I suspect I am not alone. Mobile home parks aren't what they are cracked up to be, at least not this one, there are more rules and regulations than one can imagine let alone remember, easpecially at my age. Cons: if I had to do it over I would not have moved in more
