I got a nice big oyster loaf dressed. The oysters were fried nicely, but I got a lot of flavor from the oil they fried them in. I don't know if they change the oil often enough and clean out the fryer, or maybe the temperature is too low. Anyways, I was non-plussed with the bread they used. I feel that there is nothing more important for a sandwich with fried oysters than Leidenheimer bread. I don't know why they wouldn't just serve it as a poboy instead of a loaf, maybe it's tradition there, but there is a BIG difference between what they had and good New Orleans French Bread. The portion was big, bring an appetite. My friend got a fried seafood platter, another big portion, but all the items tasted the same (the oil problem, again). Because of the big portion size, I would recommend Casamento's before a big night at Ms. Mae's.
