Best

The food was very flavorful and fresh! This is the best authentic Italian food I've ever had. Trimisu and chocolate lava cake is a must!

Disappointed 6/14/2011

!! The seats will leave you smelling like grease !! Nasty !! They must be using greasy old rags to wipe them down. Had to go home and wash my clothes. The spaghetti with meat sauce is not good. Pizza was wet and runny. Tried to talk to the management and got nowhere. Very argumentative. I will not go back to any of their Cafe. I would not recommend this place to a friend !! more

so disappointed 4/16/2011

I have been here 3 times before and had their cold antipasto and sicilian pizza and it was excellent. So for my birthday I took my whole family there yesterday and was so disappointed. The antipasto was good (not great) and the sicilian pie was good too however the salads that came with the dinner was romaine, shredded red cabbage (a lot of it too) and 4 slices of carrots.,not a cuke, tomato, onion, or olive in sight and the so- called homemade italian vinaigrette(sp?) was like a sweet mayonnaise that was so thick you couldn't pour it on your salad if you tried.Terrible. The veal parm and chicken parm had a sauce that for some reason was very orange..and there was a big tendon in the chicken...to be fair the veal was very tender and had a generous amount of cheese but that sauce was ""odd"". The eggplant parm was...okay..but I had really expected everything to be great considering some of the reviews. The kids enjoyed the pasta dishes, though I thought serving the gnocchi with diced mozzerella on top was strange (looked like mini marshmallows) as it wasn't melted just sitting on top. The bread was delicious as always....but I'd say that if that is the BEST of the meal..someone in the kitchen ""dropped the ball"". It was a 40 min. drive to get there and will not be making that trip again unless I am in the area and then I will stick to the sicilian pie and cold antipasto. more

Friggin' Incredible. 1/21/2009

It wouldn't be polite to say I'm a food critic... no I'm MUCH worse than a food critic. I'm a food SNOB. And when this snob wants REAL and AUTHENTIC food... I go see Pasquale and his masterful and consistent cooking at Positano's. Honestly, in all my years of living in the shadow of this restaurant (almost literally) I have never ever had a bad meal here. Order anything on the menu and it is good. No exceptions. And if you want something custom, just ask. So, if you are like me and demand to satisfy your taste buds with something more than tasteless dead animal wrapped up in a bland blanket of rigid bread at the drive through place - if you seek enlightenment for your inner gastronomic monk - search no more and eat here. If you leave disappointed it is because your Pavlovic longing for Taco Hell is just too strong to overcome... you can take that up with your therapist. Pros: Amazing food prepared with care and attention to detail. Cons: You have to drive to the restaurant to eat there. Is that really a con though? more

Best Italian food in town! 1/25/2008

FIVE STARS without hesitation! The place is the REAL DEAL!!! I have been a frequent customer since the restaurant opened doors 12 years ago. I can describe the food as ?authentic Italian cuisine?! Cafe Positano offers more that just excellent food ? it offers consistency! Pros: Food, Atmoshere, Parking, Service more

Dissappointed! 10/27/2007

Mediocre food just will not save the poor service here. We were welcomed with slow seating even with empty tables in view, then continued to be dissappointed by a forgotten salad and mixed up entrees (even after three visits from our waitress to reconfirm our order--""WRITE IT DOWN!"" is what we wanted to scream. Maybe she was having a bad day but the waitress seemed tired and confused. After telling our out of town visitors that this is suppose to THE Italian place in town, we were embarrassed and baffled. We've never been back, needless to say. Cons: Bad service and mediocre food. more

Horrible Service, Owner cares about stuffing his face more than his customers... 10/12/2007

The food is good, that is if you get it. Pros: Good Food Cons: Service is horrible every time, Managment /Owners are useless... more

Stands Unique 4/18/2006

Caffe Positano is truly outstanding across several categories. For casual pizza/pasta in a casual setting sit close to the pizzeria side. For a family dining the main center section is perfect with menu choices from basic pasta through wonderful, unique fish dishes and sauces. Adjacent to the ""family dining"" section is a full bar which several nights a week offers live entertainment drawing an active crowd. Lastly if you want fine dining with white table cloths and more intimate surroundings then gravitate to the far right and you will be very pleased with the quiet ambience in addition to the many ""specials' offered separate from the regular menu. Try the ""Penne Cardinalle Dinner Entree or Rock Shrimp/Portabello Mushroom Appetizer"" Service is always very efficient and one of the owners, Pasquale, is almost always there to greet customers with a friendly Italian flair. Apopka is lucky to have this fine restaurant. Pros: Varied Venues, Excellent Food, Service more

Great food at reasonable prices 2/26/2006

I have been frequenting Positano's since it originally opened in Alatmonte/Apopka. The service is first rate. They have a friendly staff who go above and beyond to please. If you aren't happy with your order just let them know, the bend over backwards to make you happy. Food is superior to most of the Italian in this area. If you want something a little different, ask for the Dover Sole, exquisite. If you want casual dining, they have it. If you want fine dining, they have it. Great all around. Pros: Food, Service, Reasonable Price more

Overpriced, poor quality 9/9/2005

This restaurant is overpriced and the food is lousy. The only thing I would order there is pizza and even thats overpriced. I had the meat lasanga and the sauce tasted like ragu and the presentation looked like stouffers. Since it was $12 and I had to pay extra for a salad, I would say this place was a rip off. Pros: service Cons: value, quality more

Keep it up fellas!!! Terrific Place!! Get the Ckicken Parm Sub and the Soups!! To Die For! Pros: value, Service, Clean Cons: Crowded (at times), Noisy more

Caffe Positano 2/12/2003

I LOVE this place, I used to live in florida and went to Positano's everyday when my parents owned what used to be the drycleaners nextdoor. I really miss the food and the atmosphere, there's no place like Positano's here in Chicago, I wish the guys would come up here and open one!!!!!! Pros: Friendly employees, Great ambience, Inexpensive more

Absolute Authentic Italian with Style! 1/13/2003

This restaurant is in a league of its own. Unlike other commercial italian restaurants such as Olive Garden, this is 100% authentic italian. The restaurant is very nice and designed for a casual dinner or lunch, to a formal fine dining section of its own. With its outstanding service and top-notch food, this restaurant is one-of-a-kind and is a MUST to go and try for yourself. more
