Best

My whole family loves Buca. Moving to Utah from the east coast - there are not too many places that serve good Italian food. Buca is great. Their caesar salad and chicken marsa...

Worst

The food is good, but they try to bowl you over with the amount of food. If you are a Chuck-a-Rama fan or if you've been starving in the desert for a month this might be attracti...

You won't find a better Italian Restraunt in Salt Lake City. The only thing that I could compare it to is Restraunt Della Fontana till it closed. If your are looking for great Italian food and really good prices and a warm and charming atmosphere you will only find it here. more

Great Food 7/29/2002

If you like Italian food, Buca is the place to go. Especially if you like garlic. It can be a little busy at times and you might have to wait for a table, but it's worth it. more

Waste of Money!!!! 7/28/2002

The decor of this restaurant is about the only thing that was good. The food was terrible, felt like I was in a slop house and the prices were outrageous. I do not mind paying alittle more for food if the food is good but this was the worst food I have ever eaten. I would eat at Golden Corral or Hometown Buffet before I would ever go back to this restaurant. Pros: Cute Decor Cons: Overall Everything more

THE BUCA EXPERIENCE 7/28/2002

Dining at Buca is not simply enjoying a meal, it's an experience. The staff is like a big family that makes you feel like a part of them. The authentic food is excellent and while it is difficult to decide on one item, the family size portions make it easy for the whole family to sample some of everything. Over all, I would say that Buca is the best thing going for Italian without leaving the US! Pros: Excellent Food, Great Atmosphere, Knowledgeable Staff more

Buca rocks! 7/28/2002

For all of you who haven't tried Buca di Beppo on Fort Union Blvd., I highly suggest you do! The servers make you feel like family, the food is fantastic (and abundant), and the desserts really are the best. Thousands of pictures of Sophia Loren, Frank Sinatra, Joe Dimaggio and Italian street scenes cover the walls while Italian music blares throughout the restaurant. The restroom decor is simply...tasteless...and perfect! It's the best place for families--kids and grandparents alike have a blast at Buca. Pros: Service, Food, Atmosphere more

Give me a break! 7/25/2002

Why is this place on every top list on the new survey. Probably because the owners have told all employees to vote. Best desserts? Not even close! Best special occasion spot? I don't think so. I have been here once. Fun and Novel? Yes! Great food? No. Would I go back? Absolutley! A great place to go with a large group of friends. But, not worthy of any top 101 Pros: Atmosphere Cons: Prices more

Sketchy at Best 7/25/2002

I have to admit that I have only dined at BDB twice now. The first was an all around bad experience. But I like to give a restaurant 2 visits minimum (sometimes a different server helps). And the 2nd visit was slightly better than the first. They must have hired a new fry cook to make the lasagne. That's all I can say about that. Pros: Good Wine Cons: Oily Food more

Like a trip to little italy 7/23/2002

By far the greatest in SLC.....a bit of a drive from my place but well worth it......portions fit four a clan, taste that amazes, service that is beyond great, and the craziest decor. Pros: Great Serving Crew, awesome food, limoncello! more

ITALIAN PARTY 7/22/2002

Last time I visited BDB we sat in the KITCHEN, that's right, IN THE KITCHEN. Chris was our server and he gave us the hands down BEST service we've ever had. The tiramisu was one of the best I've had in all of salt lake city... being the tiramisu conoissuer that I am. Make reservations for the kitchen table ahead of time, ask for a nice bottle of wine, sit back and watch the chef and cooks make a spectacle of themselves. Best Italian we've had in a really long time. Pros: food, service, vino Cons: parking more

A bit on the high end for just two peopl 7/22/2002

The food here is good but boy is it expensive if its only two people soda pop is 2.25 wow way to much for my wallet it cost $33.00 for me and my date with out dessert. The sevice is slooooow really really slow. Plus unlike macronie grill they give you bread with your meal only if you ask. Oh and if you want a salad its $10 for a small yes it feed 2-3 people but no house salad is worth that . Pros: good food Cons: expensive, bad service more

BEST EXPERIENCE EVER!!! 7/21/2002

WOW!!! We came to Buca recently and were blown away by the outrageous decor, the friendly and efficient staff, and above all else the KILLER ITALIAN FOOD. This place is like no other restaurant in SLC... the portions were enormous, the wine menu, HUGE and the overall energy that flowed through this 1950's style supper club made us wish we could have stayed all night. Other diners were so delighted with their special that they offered to share with us. Can't wait to go back! Pros: friendliness, spectacular food, good value Cons: didn't hear of sooner more

Unbelievable... a perfect 10! 7/21/2002

Serious mindblowing service, belt-busting portions, incredible atmosphere, and a staff that actually cared about our experience. What more could you want from an authentic Italian restaurant? We've read BUCA di BEPPO's rave reviews and the critics' praises. This place is one of Utah's BEST kept secrets. Our recomendation, go there with a healthy appetite. You'll have to loosen your belt to make room for the tiramisu, but its absolutely worth it! Pros: excellent food, large wine selection, knowledgeable staff Cons: not for single diners more

The restaurant to INDULGE yourself in! 7/21/2002

Since it opened, Buca has been my FAVORITE restaurant!! My family is Sicilian and talk about authentic! Just like our huge family used to do, I can eat real, authentic immigrant italian dinners with plenty for everyone (family style)! My favorites are the Mozzarella Caprese, the Mozzarella Garlic Bread, Chicken with Lemon and the Stuffed Shells! Oh yeah, and the Tiramisu for dessert. Mama Mia!!! It's not just the food I love, but the atmosphere is incredible! Boisterous pictures cover every inch of the walls and the staff (they call themselves 'family members') are so friendly and hilarious that every time we eat at Buca, we have a great time! If you have a small stomach, I suggest starting with dessert because you'll always have plenty of food to take home. Pros: Unique, Boisterous, Right off I-215 more

Rob is the best server EVER!! 7/21/2002

I just love Buca. They have awesome food and a fun atmosphere. Everytime I go, Rob Lindsay is my server, and HE IS AWESOME!!! I recommend this place to all my friends! more

Kitsch Is Here!!! 7/16/2002

As we took our tour to the table we laughed and thought what fun. Once we understood it was family style the prices made sense. The best eggplant parm that we've ever tasted. The bruschetta was great! The ceaser was very good also. To those people who don't get it...Olive Garden is there for you...for those who want good food and fun....Come Here. Pros: Good Parking, Friendly Hostess, Great Decor Cons: Servers could improve more

Explanation... 6/27/2002

For those of you who can't grasp the idea behind BDB let me explain. The food is served "family style" which means a huge plate of pasta for about $12 that serves 2-3 people. The same with salads and main entrees like veal parmigiana. When you break it down the cost is about $10-$16 per person which is what you would easily spend at Olive Garden or Macaroni Grill. Pros: knowledgable servers, food tastes good, fresh sauces Cons: none more

This place was interesting for sure! first thing they walk you through the kitchen, then about 20 min later, you find your booth. Can you say "overkill?" 3000 pictures on the wall. Anyway, it was dark, and gloomy inside, with the stereotypical "Frank Sinatra" blaring on the radio. As if it cant get any worse, you have to kink your neck looking on the wall for your menu. While your cranking your neck, get ready to crank out your wallet! the cheapest thing on the menu was a plate of spagetti for 10 bucks! everything else was like $19.00!! the waiter talked us into sharing a dish for $23.00 needless to say, I had to stop an Mcdonalds on the way home! I was not impressed with this place. They dont even offer you bread, or water, and for that price, it was paper napkins. Our server was a quack. Pros: good parking, lots to look at Cons: expensive, dark, bad service more

  • In Short
Homesick for your mother's Italian cooking? Grab your appetite and head to this restaurant, where the friendly wait staff will serve up portions of Colosseum-esque proportions, like spaghetti and meatballs loaded with savory tomato sauce and lots of pungent garlic. Dishes center on Southern Italian immigrant fare, and are meant to be shared family-style with a large goblet of wine-to enhance the taste, of course. The ornate décor with walls covered in vintage photos evokes a warm homey feel that welcomes customers to dine among the other families and loyal customers. Buon Appetito!
