Poor quality and no leadership = no one home at the drive up 12/23/2011

We placed a simple order at the drive up window this evening and we were shorted three items. Inexcusable, they do this as a regular daily business. There were no others in line behind us, we chalk it up to rushing, inexperienced teenagers and no quality control. We will not go there again. more

great place to stop going to see the Cowboys play 10/29/2010

First time I stopped to eat at Bubba's I knew it was going to be great .... there were two large 18 wheel trucks and a half dozen motorcycles parked out front. Anytime you see a place where both the truckers and motorcycle guys eat you know it's going to be good. more

EVERYTHING is delicious!!!! 10/9/2009

My very first review----My favorite place to eat in Ennis or in this area! The grilled talapia, baked sweet potato with mildly-sweetened cinnamon butter, & green beans is currently my favorite meal! Also love the ranch salad with grilled chicken added, with the ranch house dressing! Any meal you get here is going to be wonderful. Very comfy, down-home atmosphere. Love to take out-of-town guests here for the barbecue brisket (because when you're visiting Texas, BBQ is a must!) & show them the owner's cool collection of airplanes hanging from the ceiling. Staff and owner are friendly people! more

Bubba's Bar-B-Q & Steakhouse is a Place for good food 7/10/2009

Service and Food were great - several people sitting at other tables commented on how good the food was. One group of guys were truck drivers who have eaten all over the US and they said the food and service was just great - Feels good to support a family independent restaurant. more

So delicious! 12/9/2008

I live in California but have family in Ennis and everytime I visit I must go to Bubba's. The food is absolutely scrumptious. The meat is never fatty and always extra juicy. Love this place and the fried okra. Also love the cherry and peach cobblers served warm with a genorous scoop of ice cream. Its all so yummy. more

WE ALWAYS STOP. BUBBAS IS THE BEST 8/1/2008

We always stop at Bubbas on our way to visit relatives in Plano. My Aunt and Uncle would be very disappointed if we didn't bring them food from Bubbas. All of it is good. Never been disappointed. My Uncle's favorite is the ribs and my Aunt says the chopped beef is the best she has had....never fatty. See you again soon Bubba. more

OUR FAVORITE PLACE TO EAT 6/8/2008

We live in the area and Bubbas is our favorite place to eat. Why drive to Dallas when great food is near. Anytime we have out of town company, they always request Bubbas! The food is always good...great menu selection. The waitresses are nice. Very friendly atmosphere.\r June, 2008 Texas Monthly Magazine list Bubbas as one of the Top 50 BBQ Joints in Texas!! more

great food and service is first class 5/27/2008

......................"Finally I thought after stopping to eat at Bubbas numerous times how I needed to let everyone know what a great place this is. I am baffled by the review from DJ. We travel from Houston to Dallas at least once a month on business. We always plan our timing so we can eat lunch there.......and there have been occasions where we headed back to Houston the same day and also ate dinner there ! Never have I had a problem or anything but praise to say about the service or the food! The atmosphere is very family oriented.........and those planes hanging from the ceiling are awesome. I highly recommend Bubbas to anyone who travels I-45. This place definitely deserves the 5 stars everyone else has given!! By the way, I saw a plaque hanging where USA Today Newspaper has Bubbas as one of the top ten places to eat in Texas. Good job Bubba!!! Pros: service and quantity of food for the price more

Ruined Mother's Day 5/12/2008

We stopped here 5-11-08 on the way from visiting my mother in Dallas for a nice Mother's Day dinner. \r \r After asking a customer how to be seated, one person in my party through the line while the kids and I sat for 15 min while our waitress chatted at the table next to ours. \r \r Finally ordered while my partner tried to eat the dry burnt ribs (finally gave up) waitress is back to chatting at the table next to ours. 25 min. later our food arrives (a bbq sandwich, baked potato, and hamburger) She literally chunks the plates on the table and takes off, I saw "ma'am" she looks at me, continues walking so I loudly say MA'AM she stops and I ask her for silverware, she rolls her eyes at me comes back and tosses them on the table. \r \r Again I have to call after her because she forgot our french fries..Manager comes over and asks how every thing is, I start to tell her AND SHE WALKS OFF\r \r We got the french fries when we were done with our cold food. I AGAIN had to call the waitress to tr more

Worst experience ever; Completely destroyed Mother's Day 5/12/2008

Manager comes over and asks how every thing is, I start to tell her AND SHE WALKS OFF!!!!!!!! We got the french fries when we were done with our cold food. I AGAIN had to call the waitress to try to get our bill. LOUSY Service, honestly the worst I have ever had, terrible food, and indifferent managers. Not a penny was deducted from our bill. I will never go back and will do my best to share my horrible Mother's Day dinner. Pros: easy to get to Cons: worst service I have ever received, total indifference by the staff; more

Favorite Stop 3/19/2008

This place has the best BBQ I can find. We always stop on the way from Dallas to Houston. You can see it from the road, and sometimes you can smell it from miles away if you have the windows rolled down. Good old fashioned Texas BBQ at it's finest. more

All you could ever want in a BBQ joint... 1/7/2008

Don't let 'em fool you. A good meal of BBQ is not JUST all about the secret sauce; or the wood; or the hundreds of other tricks to the trade -- It's ALSO about the SIDES. I mean - we live in Texas, people. You can't turn a corner without finding a good BBQ joint. Bad ones aren't gonna be around long, so you can tell - if the building has some age to it, if there's a couple of ""real"" pickup trucks in the parking lot, if the neon (inside) needs dusting - it's gonna be decent BBQ. But Atkins aside, one doesn't just live on a hunk of meat alone. I want sides. And Bubba?s has got ?em. Delicious potato salad, home-style green beans, deviled eggs, pintos, turnip greens, coleslaw and this was just one trip. It seems the veggie choice changes each time I?m there. I?ve not had one that I didn?t love. This heaven is in addition to the best BBQ eva! The meat falls off the ribs, the brisket is moist and flavorful, the links are delish. No, I didn?t eat it all in one trip. This place is worth repeating over and over again. And don?t forget about desert ? you won?t have room for it but get it to go; it?s cobbler - usually peach or blackberry. I used to stop there every time I came to Dallas from Houston. Now that I no longer live in Houston, I will be driving to Ennis for BBQ. Pros: Great veggie choices & desserts. Friendly staff. Comfortable seating. Cons: I want BUBBA's in my neighborhood! more

Best BBQ Around 6/19/2006

Bubba?s advertises to be the best BBQ, and they live up to that. Bubba?s is a unique experience. You can either get a BBQ plate and eat immediately, or order a steak or chicken. There is a cooler as you walk in the door that has steaks of all cuts and sizes. You pick out your own steak, and they cook it to order. I have been going to Bubba?s for years, and the only complaint that I have is that sometimes the cook has problems getting a steak cooked correctly. I?ll order it medium and receive it well done. They are always willing to fix problems, and the taste of the food is worth a few mix-ups every once in awhile. The owners are so kind and friendly. more
