Fantastic GetAWay! 2/16/2012

I went to the resort for the first time, and was very thankful I did. We stayed in a cabin while we were there and found it to be very cozy and comfortable. I was blown away by how much food they served and how yummy it was!! The hot springs were incredible obviously. I loved all of the different varieties of pools, and was impressed by how well maintained everything is! Last but not least, the steam how was KILLER!! We could not get enough of it! All in all, we stayed there 3 days and two nights, and were so thankful we did. I was refreshed, well rested, and full by the time I returned to civilization. I am going to be returning for sure!! more

Soak, relax in the beauty of Nature 5/17/2010

I have been going to Breitenbush for years and love the entire place. The meals vary but typically made with love and care and of course very fresh. The springs are divine, cabins simple, stars a plenty and lovely. I have never had an unpleasant experience there and find the staff, totally lovely. Do enjoy, peace and reflection here. Not for the high end luxury sort and if you prefer cocktails and such not a place for you, you would be disappointed. Pros: Quiet, clean and serene Cons: non for me more

Weird vibe, Not Friendly, Expensive to Boot 8/22/2009

I agree with the other reviewer who found this place unpleasant and not a good value for the money. Been there a number of times. The residents are what make this place creepy. A cultish atmosphere pervades their behavior. They seem like they couldn't cope in the real world so they ended up here. They have gross manners, and apparently do lots of ""partying"" in the their private area across the river. Also, it costs $50 PER PERSON TO CAMP in your own tent! So, if you go with two friends and friggin camp, it costs $150 night. That price conflicts with the earthy atmosphere they try to project. For my money, I'd rather go to a natural hot springs. I can do without the crappy vegetarian food too. Pros: the sauna Cons: bizarre, cultish holdovers from the Manson era more

uncomfortable, cultish environment, no amenities 4/21/2008

I came to OR from TX just to experience a hot spring. Disappointment started when I called to make my res. I explained how excited I was to travel so far to go to there and she responded by saying absolutely NOTHING. It was a weird phone call and she was VERY rude. Never gave me the feeling that she cared at all that I was spending thousands of $$ to travel just to visit their resort. When I called after arriving in PDX to make sure my reservation was still in order, the guy took about 20 minutes to finally find my res. Yet another unnecessarily confusing and uncomfortable phone call. When I arrived, it was pretty.I wandered over to the hot springs only to find out there are not areas to change. You must disrobe in front of the swim-suitless people already there. Very uncomfortable unless you're a practicing nudist. Sorry,I guess I'm not European enough for this type of experience. Although the place says, ""clothing optional"", I'm telling you, be prepared for a nudist skin fest. Everyone is in the buff. Only in the bathing areas, but still. Wearing a bikini made me feel very uncomfortable and people acted like I was crazy for doing so. Pros: nothing Cons: everything more
