In Short
Silver mining magnate William Hamill moved on to be a state senator and state railroad commissioner. His family mansion in Georgetown was elaborate and architecturally ambitious for the era. Central heating, gas lighting and solariums were uncommon in those days, but the mansion had all of them. The carefully restored country-style Gothic Revival house holds many of the original decorations: furniture, wall coverings, paintings, fireplace tiles, chandeliers, grand piano and parquet flooring.
