Bonfire Grill

Thursday night my friends and I went to Bonfire at 9:00. We were told that a table for 3 would be about 15 minutes. Finally at 9:25 we spoke to the host and he offered us drinks. The drinks were so awful that we could not actually drink them. At 9:40 we see a couple walk in and get seated immediately. When we confronted the host he about this he was rude and followed us out to tell us that WE were rude. SO finally at 10:00, we walked around the corner to the new cheeseburger place where we were seated and served instantly and had a tasty meal for a lot less money!! Down with Bonfire! My boyfriend and I went to this new place in Forest Hills. We were nicely welcomed by a hostess and the owner and the atmosphere seemed to be very inviting. We waited 45 minutes for the entrees and the service was not what I expected. The server didn't apologize or explain why the food took so long, and we constantly had to look for him because he just wouldn't be attentive to our table. Overall the food was ok, but overpriced and the service is a big disappointment! more

I walked in with a friend and the atmosphere was definitely inviting. We waited at the bar and ordered some wine. The bartender was really cool. Then we got a table and ordered. I was happy with the menu except that it was a tad overpriced. I figured the food would justify it. We ordered wasabi salmon with fries. That's all it comes with unless you ASK for the bun. Still, the description comes with a delightful bed of greens. That was missing. Not a big deal except that the salmon was dry and bland... not a ""wasabi."" The manager was kind enough to ask the table next to us and she mentioned the problem. My friend and I chimed in having had the same meal. He said that another customer also complained and he was taking it off the menu, then walked away. No complimentary coffee or discount or nothing. I was disappointed. Pros: Nice atmosphere Cons: Food wasn't up to par, but I may give it another chance more

This is my first time writing a message but, I am so thrilled that we have a new ""hip"" little bistro in Forest Hills, I wanted to get the word out. The staff is fab, food delicious and it is really a nice place to go to on an evening, Saturday or Sunday. Michael (the owner) got it right on every single level.. My niece and I now go there 2 to 3 times a week. Wait to you meet Vince the Bartender (not sure of the days he works) he is an absolute riot and will make you feel right at home!! Well done to you Michael and the Staff at BonFires!!!!! Pros: Start to finish thumbs up Cons: I haven't found one yet! more

I was really looking forward to a new place in Forest Hills, well I got my hopes up for nothing. I tried AGAIN\r last night for the third disappointing time. The burger was mediocre at best and the fries were soggy. The\r ""waitress"" looked annoyed when I asked for a second glass of wine. The wine never came and SHE ROLLED HER EYES when I pointed that out! I glad it never came because $9.00 for a glass of merlot is just crazy. Do yourself a favor and skip this overpriced McDonald's. more

We waited an hour for a table; upon being seated we ordered appetizers (spring rolls) andd waited 1/2 an hour for those. We waited another 40 minute for 2 cheesburgers and they were average. The wine list was really overpriced and our white wine was luke warm.\r \r Maybe it will get better once they have worked out the kinks, but it was really unimpressive for $100 for 2. I was at the Bonfire Grill last night for their opening party and thought it was amazing!!! The food was outstanding, as was the atmosphere and the wait staff! I would recommend this restaurant to all who are in the neighborhood!!! Pros: The food, ambience, staff, and drinks! Cons: The space is a little small for such an amazing restaurant! more

My boyfriend and I came here for the first time on Saturday night. We arrived at around 9:45. The bar area was busy, as was the restaurant area. While it was busy it wasnt overwhelmingly crowded, and there was no wait. The dining area is set up pretty good- they make good use of their small area. For drinks I tried the Tropical Cosmo- I really didnt care for it so I switched to the Ultimate Margerita which was great. Boyfriend had the White Peach Sangria- It was good- but didnt have any fruit (??)! Onto the appetizers- We ordered the Goat Cheese Tapas- amazing!!! I was very pleased with them. We also orderd the Thai Chicken Skewers- we were also pleasantly surprised with these! The chicken was very moist and cooked perfectly- and the peanut sauce that was served on the side was very tasty! For dinner BF had the salmon burger over salad- I am not a salmon fan but he LOVED it! I had the Uptown Salad and added grilled shrimp. The citrus dressing was fantastic! We both cleaned our plates! It was very hard to choose what to get because the menu has a lot of choices. Overall this was a great experience for us- the atmosphere was nice- mixed crowd, service was great- the staff was very pleasant and orders were accurate, and the food presentation was very nice as well. For two appetizers, four alcoholic drinks and two bottles of sparkling water, and two entrees the bill came to just under $100 - Can't beat it! We will definately be frequenting this restaurant again in the future. I also noticed that they have free delivery! Pros: Food, Service, Location Cons: None that I can think of. If anything parking can sometimes be annoying, but feasiable! more

Great addition to Austin Street. We've been waiting for a place like this to come and eat and enjoy drinks. However, the wine is a little overpriced. The food is excellent, but since it's new, there are still kinks to be worked out within the dynamics of the place. The staff is warm and sweet and are a refreshing addition to the neighborhood. Small cozy place that perhaps has too many tables in the restaurant and not enough seats at the bar. Do go there for great drinks and great food if you don't mind waiting for a table because it is extremely busy still. more

I was in a Manhatten wine shop and found a bottle of Crane Lake pinot grigio on sale for $3.49. I bought a bottle and tried it at home, it is not terrible but tastes like a $5 bottle of wine. I had dinner at BonFire Grill in Forest Hills and found that Crane Lake pinot grigio was $30 a bottle!!! Are you joking!? This may not be Manhatten but geez! Pros: Great atmosphere for beers and a burger, location, staff, burgers Cons: size, entress, speed of service more

Stopped by this new place on Austin street in Forest Hills. My wife and I have been waiting for a place like this around here for years. Really nice renovation. We sat in the dining area and had some apps and wine. They had very recently opened and was crowded. For a brand new place the service was outstanding as well as the food. Cant wait to come back and try the entrees. more
