Long story short, while in town visiting (I live in Wisconsin now) family in January 2011, I serviced the touchless car wash at Blue Lagoon Car wash while driving my brand new 2011 Acadia. For reasons that are still not understood, the car wash malfunctioned and the washing mechanism banged and scraped up both back and front passenger doors, leaving rubber and scratches in the brand paint. The manager had to reset the car wash and tried to get the rubber off the doors, during which time we saw scratches in the paint (car was wet and it was extremely cold outside). The owner, George May came out to my car and told me he would pay for the damages, he said it would cost $200 to $300. I have NO experience with the cost of repairs to cars--I have never incurred damages to my car(s) in the past. I was given all the information needed to contact his manager Jon Roder with information as George was expected to be out of town. Before leaving Iowa the next day, my dad, who happens to own a truck auto body repair business in Marion, went out to my car to buff out the left over rubber that was left on the car doors--we were not able to get it all off at the car wash, immediately pointed out dents in both doors, all of them at the sites of the rubber and scratches, just very difficult to see without a trained eye. I immediately attempted to contact Jon Roder, but without success, and instead left a message regarding the above findings. Once home, I made several attempts to talk with Jon R., again unsuccessfully. I did talk to Terry, office staff to Blue Lagoon, who told me to email Jon. From there on, I emailed Jon on a daily basis of what was going on, pictures, and eventually, the estimate of damages ($1072.68). Jon NEVER replied to any phone messages or emails. Instead, a week after no correspondence, I sent an email asking for status update. I received a short email that evening from George May saying that he would pay the $200 to $300, that the car wash did not cause any damage and that they had already gone above and beyond what they should have. During all my above attempts to discuss the damages, I have encouraged Jon R. and George M. to call my dad and the auto body technician to discuss the correlation of the damages. So, not only does he refuse to talk to me about the above, he refuses to talk to the professionals who can provide all the proof FACTS about the damages to my car, he now refuses to admit that the car wash caused ANY damages to my car--keep in mind that I have date and time stamped pictures of my car at the car wash, text messages sent to my husband during the time of the accident, phone calls and more pictures from my iphone (again date and time stamped) and all the emails from my personal computer. After receiving the ONLY email response from George May (as above) I contacted my insurance company (Allstate) who has since investigated the matter and inspected the damages of my car. They have since reimbursed me for all the damages AND collected the information above--apparently, they have intentions to collect from George May themselves. I have also contacted the Better Business Bureau (Des Moines, Iowa) and filed a formal complaint where you can view copies of many of my email correspondence to Jon and George. I truly have no desire to communicate with him any more, he is a dishonest crook. He can deal with Allstate... It is sickening that there are people out there like him and I want the community of Cedar Rapids, Iowa to be aware of who they are supporting and or dealing with if they are customers to any of his businesses including GS Enterprises LLC- Auto Locators, Blue Lagoon Car Wash and Storage, and Wilcox Bobcat.
