So glad they are back on line! 2/8/2011

I love this place! The Blind Dog has recently reopened in a new location that has a similar comfy feel but has an even better, integrated dining experience with both the restaurant and sushi menus available at the same time. I have been coming to the Dog for several years and can always count on having comfort food that is a step above (Kobe beef sliders with spicy ketchup - are you kidding?!?) and sushi that is fantastic. Tonight I had a marlin (kajiki) carpaccio with black sea salt and capers that was amazing by any sushi standard. Also had some oysters - I won't even attempt the Japanese name here - that rival any I have had on either coast. I can always count on seeing other folks I know (that have also been coming for years) and being entertained by the bar staff or the owners' irreverent humor. Give this place a shot if you like quality comfort food, steaks, sushi or seafood. more

Over Rated and Over Priced 11/10/2009

Service was sloooow. After 35 minutes, our food finally arrived, the IKURA rolls did not taste fresh and presentation was simple. Our ale was room temperature. We will not return this ski season and do not recommend Blind Dog. Pros: Away from Main street traffic Cons: Food and Service more

The food was just ok and I was not really that happy with the service 11/6/2006

I was out for a nice night in park city and was hoping for some Better than average seafood. But i was a little disapointed with food and my ovorall dinning experience more

Elegance with Personality 5/31/2005

I spend my life on travel and it is always a pleasure to return to the BDG where the food is delightful and more importantly the hospitality is warm. From seafood to steaks in the main dining room, to fantastic sushi in the sushi bar, the menu is exciting. I sometimes make a meal in itself from just the appetizers while trying the ever changing soup du jour. An exceptional wine list, full service bar, and a great selection for the beer snobs (me). The families long experience in the business is evident in their friendliness and attention to every detail, especially a devotion to cleanliness. Look for me having returned from another long tiresome journey gathered with old friends, making new acquaintances, or having a quiet dinner with my wife as we continue to enjoy the BDG. Pros: Convenient parking, easy access, Warm love of animals Cons: reservation recom more

Cosmopolitan! 5/31/2005

I find the Blind Dog ambiance something normally found in a large city. The food Chef Penny Kinsey provides is always excellent. Presentation is an art. At times the service is not always what you want, but if you are looking for a relaxed evening, this is the place. I have always found the staff more than accommodating. The bar area is delightful and the sushi bar is a WOW! Great wine list and cocktails. I regularly find it at the top of my dining decision list. more

A Bit Inconsistent 5/1/2005

Having been there several times, I must say that the service has been less than good. One time I sat there for 30 minutes and finally left after not even getting a glass of water. Other times the service has been good to less than average. The food is generally quite good, but I think it is over-priced. Parking can be a challenge during the busy season. Pros: Good food, Great bar Cons: Poor service, Expensive more

awsome 4/25/2005

An amazing dining experience 2/3/2005

The Blind Dog is a restaurant of international quality with a warm and friendly ambiance. The food is nothing short of remarkable. They have a renown wine list, the most delicious cocktails that is complimented with warm, friendly service. My favorites are the shrimp/lobster egg rolls and their infamous crab cakes. Chef Penelope Kinsey has created an incredible menu that can delight any palate. It's a dining experience to remember! And by the way, the sushi is the best! Pros: Great atmosphere, Wonderful food, Convenient parking more

Disappointed! 1/31/2005

Tried BDog during our 01/2005 ski trip but was disappointed by the food and management! We ordered their famous crabcake, lobster/shrimp eggrolls and sushi. In the eggroll I didn't taste lobster or shrimp, mostly veggies - not memorable. The crabcake appeared nicely browned but inside it was cold. Apologies given by the waitestaff and another crabcake, again dark brown on the outside but cool inside. I think they used the same oil to fry with which was causing the "cooked" appearance but underdone inside. We tried salmon and tuna nigiri and Jollyrancher roll nothing spectacular. We were disappointed that the manager didn't come over to offer us anything for the crabcake like a comped dessert, drinks or anything. The waitstaff was good but if you want repeat business then the manager apologizes and offers a comp. Especially since this was their "famous" crabcake. I don't recommend Blind Dog Grill. Pros: ambience Cons: mediocre food, inattentive mgmt more

Going Downhill 12/23/2004

Used to be a great place. Lunch the other day was terrible. Way overcooked a Kobe beef hamburger and seared ahi salad. Waiter's excuse was "well you know it's a brown beef" (burger) and "we cook it medium" (ahi). Simple lunch for 3 took almost 2 hours. Not recommended at this time. more

Blind Dog patron 7/27/2004

I eat at the Blind Dog Grill at least once a week and find the food very consistant. The seafood is of exceptional quality and I understand is flown in from all over the country, including Hawaii. The Sushi is some of the best in the West. If you have not eaten here yet when in Park City please give it a try. The wine list is wonderful. Pros: Atmosphere, good service, great parking more

The Blind Dog Opened My Eyes! 11/4/2002

Overall excellent experience. Great atmosphere, food and service! Would recommend. more

Fantastic! 10/22/2002

We drove up from SLC to eat at the Blind Dog for the first time, and this will definitely not be the last time. I am from Chicago and have been unimpressed with most of the restaurants I have been to since I relocated, until last night. The Blind Dog's atmosphere extremely inviting, the service was excellent (we did not feel rushed, not did we feel neglected), and the filet was unbelievable--it melted in your mouth. This is the best dining experience I have had since I moved over a year ago. more

Went in for Complimentary Crab Bisque 10/21/2002

We saw an ad in the local papaer and went in for the Crab Bisque that was complimentary for the resturants Birthday, WOW were we surprised. We had no idea how wonderful the ambiance was. This is not a grill by any means, it is fine dinning with comfort. The only way to explain it would be Cashmere and Jeans together. A great wine list, they even have a Sushi Bar. I had Seabass with some type of vegtable and a risotto cake, it was outstanding. Leave room, I had the Crab Bisque (rich and flavorful), salad(spinach with bacon, yummy), the Seabass, and bread pudding for dessert. I took home a doggie bag. Also, they have this wall of dog pictures from a bunch of people that have eaten at the resturant, they said if we sent in a picture of our pooch they would put it up, pretty cool. Pros: Good Parking, Great Atmosphere, Great Wine List more

A groovy surprise 8/26/2002

I worked next door to the Blind Dog for 6 months and always thought it was a bar. Then one day I went in with me girlfriend, looking for a cheap meal and WHOA! This wasn't a cheap place. We stayed anyway and are VERY glad we did. THE BEST CRABCAKES OUTSIDE OF MARYLAND. Everything else was excellent, but that's what really stood out. There is a slightly local-centric feel, though. more

  • The Scene
Blind Dog promotes itself as being famous for seafood dishes such as herb-crusted Alaskan halibut and fried Washington-state oysters.

    The Food
The grilled tuna chop, marinated and served with wasabi vinaigrette on top of mashed potatoes and haystack onions, was the highlight of the evening. The vinaigrette made a terrifically tart sauce to the rich tuna, and the onions evoked memories of seaside onion-ring stands. Less impressive were the butternut squash ravioli simmered in extra virgin olive oil, sage, tomato concasse, and grated Asiago. They were nice, but the serving was small, and had no "ooomph." Desserts are a highlight. The vanilla ice cream with fresh wild berries marinated in vanilla was everything you'd hope it would be. The chocolate brownie was a perfect balance of sweet and bitter, and not overly done in either size or richness.
