Not a good place to spend your time. Awful gym. Very poor personal trainers and management is pathetic (not only for a fitness facility but as management of a business in general). The ""Executive Director"" Chuck (probably a title that he invented to make himself feel important) is a waste of a human being. Lazy and the epitome of what it means to negatively influence a business environment. Kids Club is a dump. Machines are often broken. Before I went elsewhere, I saw a Smith Machine fall apart and almost land on the head of someone who was lifting there. Literally. Oh, by the way, have fun attempting to cancel your membership... I had to threaten legal action to make sure that my membership was canceled immediately!\r \r AVOID THIS PLACE! more

They guy who runs the Arnold location must think he is too cool to respond to a legitimate complaint that I had in regards to child care. For some unknown reason, the child care was closed the day before Memorial Day(Sunday), but evidently no one told the manager on duty(Liz). She had no idea the daycare was closed and said she would ""find out"" what was going on...She finally returned showing me a the monthly newsletter where this was posted..Now they had a sign at multiple locations in the gym saying child care would be closed on Memorial Day but no where did it say they would be closed the day before Memorial Day..I emailed Chuck (the guy in charge) on Sunday and still have not heard from him as of today(Thursday). It's pretty sad when your manager doesn't know the gym's child care hours and the person in charge does not have the common decsency to return my email or call me..I previously had another incident with childcare losing my daughter's shoes and Chuck basically said ""tough luck"". \r A class act all the way.... more

STAY AWAY FOR YOUR KIDS SAKE 5/25/2011

This use to be a great, fun and safe environment. not anymore! The Kids Club always smells and they have had several leaks in the roof and the place smells like mold. There is always too many kids and it is overwhelming. more

Owners Daughter Writes positive reviews 5/17/2011

IT really is a shame that the owners daughter has to write a positive review for her fathers club. She says everyone is so friendly, not true. The management puts on smiles but they are false. No one is smiling who works at Big Vanilla. The stress levels are high and the atmosphere is hostile. Great place for families? Their motto is ""Fun Family Fitness"" This is bullshit..All they care about is the almighty dollar. The upper management are ruining what was a fabulous friendly gym. They are creating horrible conditions for camps, and childcare services. Any yet, Sunni says it is a great place for kids. NOT TRUE. Rethink Big Vanilla for the place for your children. IT seems that the owner has his head in the sand. more

Going downhill 5/16/2011

USED to be my favorite place to be, but the management seems to just be slipping steeper and steeper down the slope. They have lost some great employees, and you can tell the difference from the minute you walk in the door. Kids programs are starting to slip, and I am concerned for what will happen to their summer camp. This camp was very reputable and had a waiting list for each week, it will be interesting to see what a new staff and a coordinator who seems to care less about children and more about business can make of it. Hopefully they get their stuff together quick, because most of my group agrees with me, this wonderful place has took a turn for the worse. more

Best Gym in Md 12/6/2010

Big Vanilla is the best health club I have ever been to. Not only is it extremely spacious and clean, everyone is so friendly. Big v provides such a warm and inviting atmosphere for all ages. It is a great place for families and extremely kid friendly, but it also is a fun place to work out with you friends. I love the fitness classes and i work with a trainer a couple times a week. Love everything about this club. The pools are open year round and the indoor rockwall is definitely something worth checking out! more

GREAT CLUB, GREAT VALUE? 12/21/2009

Your review \r GREAT CLUB, GREAT VALUE? - ? - Today\r I have been a member of Big Vanilla for over 3 years and enjoy everything about it - the equipment, the classes (best yoga teachers in town), the pool (outdoors in the summer, in a warm 'bubble' during the colder months), the rock-climbing wall and the members. I have met a lot of very nice people there. It's really a great value for what they offer. \r \r I go at least 5 times a week. I consider it my reward for everything else I do :)! \r Pros: Fun gym, lots of different activities to suit everyone more

Bad Gym 9/21/2008

General manager is not a nice person. She called me and my wife fat in order to get us to join some 90 day challenge program. I was not happy and cancelled my membership immediately. more
