I went here for breakfast with some friends. I was absolutely blown away with my sirloin steak, 2 eggs, abundant homemade hash browns (wonderful and not dripping in grease) and toast for less than $9. Will definately eat here again next time I'm in Salt Lake! more

If you are looking for a traditional breakfast place, this is it. My eggs and hashbrowns were cooked perfectly. Coffee was good. Be careful if you ask for cheese, they really pile it on! more

Okay I am not a friend or worker of the belgian waffle & omlet inn. I don't work there either. Yes it is a little run down and it could us an overhaul. While I have not tasted all of their food what we did have was great! I had some eggs benedict and the holandaise was made from scratch and they put just the right amoun of lemon. My son has French Toast. I had to eat some of it because he is 5 and only eats 5 bites. haha next year it will be 6. Anyway, It was really a great experience for us and we are going again today. I want to try one of those plate size cinnimon rolls! They looked fantastic! more

For those who have eaten here, it's a great little place where you need to watch what you do order. I LOVE the breakfast food here and those who had a bad meal, that sucks. I haven't had a bad meal there yet and in fact am probably going back again this morning. I have taken many friends there and they also enjoy the food there. So, if you had a bad meal there I can say that for EVERY place I have eaten at (including home). You can't judge a place by just one meal and if you had I guess I won't be seeing any of you there anytime soon. Good! I won't have to wait for a table then (like I usually do because they are busy). more

I ordered a bowl of chili. It was spaghetti sauce with a few beans. No I'm not making this up. more

GROSS! 11/27/2011

The food was disgusting, we were both ill afterwards! Why was the hollandaise sauce cheese colored? Why did they use cheap pizza sauce as the ""salsa"" for the spanish omelette... and what was even in that omelette? Why do the potatoes look like they were scraped up off the floor? This is the WORST breakfast place we have been to, and we will NEVER be back! We recommend: Penny Ann's Blue Plate Diner and even Village Inn and Denny's over this place! Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go be sick in the restroom for a while.... blegh! more

Belgian Waffle & Omelet Inn 7/11/2010

The Belgian Waffle has been in buisness since 1979, as long as I have lived here, but it has not grown with time. Im no miss priss and not a negative person. But instead of growing up it has just gotten old. I would love to go in and overhaul almost all of it, but not the thing that has kept it going all this time. The Belgian Waffle is a place of many good memories for alot of people, from being a child going with you mom and dad and grandparents, to going with your school friends, with your boyfriends or girlfriends, to reuniting with you old friends or even meeting new friends. Thats why the people come back, its good memories. But I realy feel that will not keep it going. The food and the way is it prepared needs to be renued. People are much more comcerned about their health and the food needs to reflect that. menue needs lots work. I would love to share with you a new and improved Belgian Waffle, keeping the memories going adding new ones in a clean, fresh customer oriented atmosphere. (would't you) Owners start listening you us, your bread and butter won't last like this. I wish all the best for you, don't you? Pros: Some Servers Cons: Attitudes of Staff/Not Clean/Menues dirty/no pride more

GARBAGE! 7/7/2010

The worst food I have ever been served anywhere, in my entire life. Any positive review of this place must be written by either a friend of the owner or someone high on drugs. This place is a run-down, dirty sh!thole and serves food to match. The waffles were cold, soggy and looked and tasted like they were extremely stale, extremely freezer-burned toaster waffles. Considering that they were square and attached, they probably were. I've tried my share budget syrups and none of them come close to being as awful as Belgian Waffle Inn's. Both link and patty sausages were just as bad as the waffles. Stale, charred black and the worst quality I have ever tasted. I wouldn't feed them to a starving dog. Nothing positive to say about the ""hash browns"". They were pretty much a huge pile of boiled, soggy potato mush that was a tiny bit charred on the outside. But 99% soggy mush. There's no excuse, at any price, for the horrendously crappy food they serve and charge money for here. If I were homeless, I'd probably rather eat out of a dumpster than the Belgian Inn. This place should be ashamed to charge money for the crap they serve to paying customers. The world's worst cook should be grateful he has a paying job. If it weren't the middle of the night and we weren't too exhausted to drive around looking for someplace that was still open on a weeknight, we would have left, without paying, after the first bite. Server was friendly. I have never given a 1-star review to a restaurant that doesn't have bad service and food. Belgian Inn's food has established a new all-time bottom standard. Pros: nice serve Cons: worst food in the world more

Not the Best 5/5/2010

My husband and I visited this restaurant on May 5th, 2010 at around 7pm. The service we received was OK. There was no hostess at the front counter when we walked in so we had to move slightly into the restaurant before we were noticed and were seated. The service was quick, we only waited about 10 minutes for our food to be cooked and delivered to us. But when we got our food there were some issues with it. The french toast I got was smothered in butter. I took more than half of it off and placed it in a napkin. The eggs I ordered were drenched in oil. I couldn't make myself eat them, it was disgusting. I ordered a side of strawberries and since it was May I was expecting fresh strawberries. Instead I got canned strawberries. They looked like what you would put in a pie. My husband ordered cheese fries and they were very greasy and tasted ""off"". When we checked out I told the cashier that the food was 'ok'. She said 'oh well that's good. It's just food. As long as it fills the belly.' Not the response I was expecting. I wish she had showed more concern about our experience and maybe asked details. like 'oh, just ok? Was there anything wrong?' I don't think we are going to go back there. Not when we can pay the same price at IHOP and get better food. Pros: Good French Toast, Clean Cons: Greasy Food, Outdated Decor, Unenthusiastic Staff more

This place is the stoner haven of the Salt Lake area. This is where the teenagers go when they're too high to go anywhere else. I love the belg. Favorite place ever. I stick to coffee & the biscuits & gravy personally.. Haven't ever eaten anything else there. Lucky.. but the servers are AMAZING & it's a chill place to be. more

Great food. Great service. Clean environment. 2/6/2010

Hello friend. I have been dining at the Belgian Waffle & Omelet Inn for 10 years now. The menu items prepared by the world class chef are made with the finest ingredients available. Virginia ham, Wisconsin cheese, Texas grapefruit and Idaho potatoes. Crisp lettuce, freshly baked hamburger buns, thick, juicy pickles. The ketchup tastes so real, you can't believe your taste buds. Onions pulsating with magnificent aroma. The breakfast platters are farm fresh and if you have ever been on a Wisconsin farm then you will know what it's like to have breakfast here. Thick, crisp bacon. Hash browns browned to perfection with the perfect amount of cracked pepper. Honey baked ham with so much flavor, any future ham you have will never be good enough. The coffee is ground fresh only moments before your order is taken. The steaks are thick, succulent and hot, dripping with real butter as they are brought to your table. I appreciate the fact that no expense is spared when it comes to cleanliness. The carpets are cleaned daily. The tables are constantly wiped and cleansed. The service is second to none. If you drop a fork, someone is standing in front of you with a clean one. I have never had to ask to have my water/beverage glass filled. The staff are courteous, efficient, professional and always smiling. This is five star service at it's best. The silverware, dishware and drinking glasses are clean and spot free, glistening with purity like the underwear of a nun. Enough said. I love the food here and I invite you to judge for yourself. Great prices, the freshest ingredients and the best service. Enjoy! Pros: Clean, friendly, huge portions & farm fresh ingredients. Cons: This gourmet food is so good, you can't stop eating it. more

SCARY 10/18/2009

Ok OK so bad news bears! yes, Belgain has a mean breakfast however I was recently having dinner when i noticed BLACK GREASE finger prints on my dishes i made the waitress aware i saw her tell her manager and her manager did nothing they seemed to be arguing that the cook did NOT wash his hands after working on an ice machine (SCARY). the young girl(my witress) seemed very distressed that manager did not do anything about the situation . My waitress offered to pay for my food but as it was not her fault I declined the offer. I must say they have some of the greatest waitresses around but the cook not washing his hands the manager not standing behing her waitress and the terrible condition of the dining room containing mass amounts of flies will ensure that I will not be back to this establishment. I do not even want to know what the condition of the kitchen is now it was not great 5 years ago. Pros: good breakfast Cons: kitchen manager/head chef/fix it guy doesn't wash his hands more

Won't be back 9/5/2009

Two weeks ago I went to the Belgian Waffle in Midvale. It didn't surprise me when they sat me in one of their rooms off their main dining room as I was a single and most restaurants don't like singles, we take up space where a family could... sit. While I was sitting waiting for the host to bring me a cup of coffee, I noticed that my hand was sticking to the table. I made the host aware of this and he apologized and brought a damp cloth and attempted to clean the table. I could see that he didn't understand the nature of the film that covered the table and decided to wait for my server. When she came in I voiced my concerns to her and she brought back a clone of the damp cloth that the host had used and attempted to clean the dirty film. I explained to her that I was a commercial cabinetmaker for many years and that a damp cloth was not going to cut it. She just kept rubbing harder and harder until I thought she was going to have a heart attack. I should have left then but I was famished. I was reminded of Jack Nicholson in the movie "" As Good as it Gets"" when he was asked why he used plastic utensils and he replied it was a judgment call, that he had seen the help. I feel the same way about the Belgian Waffle and won't be eating there again. Pros: better than lenny's Cons: filthy and the help doesn't know how to clean it more

GOOD FOOD 7/5/2009

The food is very good and the portions are huge the only problem is the Graveyard lady. If you go in at night expect to wait at least a half hour for your food because the waitress is always in her car smoking something... The dining room is very drab and old and in desperate need of renovation but all and all they serve a mean breakfast! Pros: The Food IS YUMMY Cons: Night LADY Is NUTS more

Best Home Style Food outside the Home! 1/15/2009

This lil diner is not posh by any means, yet for good old fashioned home style food, like they cooked back when I was a kid, which was a VERY long time ago, it TOTALLY ROCKS!! Their potatoes are NOT processed or frozen, they are home made French Fries and Hash Browns. It has the down home country feel to it that makes you feel welcomed. The new management in the day have TOTALLY turned the place around, I rather not go in at night due to terrible graveyard waitress, she is always out smoking and God knows what else, other then that, we LOVE the place!! It is a lil diamond in the rough, a little wait on the weekends but TOTALLY WORTH IT!! We agree with the previous comments about the fabulous pie! Keep up the great work! We will be back for the Garbage Hash! Pros: Garbage Hash, Portions, Price, Most of the servers and managers Cons: Graveyard Waitress, SCARY!!! more

Great breakfast, mediocore service 7/22/2008

The service was kind of slow and the the restaurant's overall appearance isn't impressive but the food is tasty and fairly priced. Don't forget to play the blue squares video game in the lobby.\r \r Updated (December 2008): Went by for lunch last weekend and it was horrible. They didn't have half the items I wanted to order (soup and hot chocolate), my fries were either burnt to a crisp or raw and the fruit salad was awful. (Our waitress did give us fair warning that the fruit was not fresh.) We had to track down our waitress for water refills and our meals were worth maybe half of what we ended up paying f or it. Note to self: don't go here for lunch or dinner. Pros: Breakfast Cons: Lunch and Dinner more
