Beautiful any time of the year 9/16/2007

The USS Alabama is the only thing that keeps me awake on those long trips back home from different states. As soon as I see it in the distance with its lights and knowing that its apart of American History in my own back yard, im proud to say im an Alabamian. There are several stories about the USS ALABAMA being Haunted but i myself have only experienced this story once and that was when i was with a small group of people and we where walking through to another room and the door behind us all of the sudden SLAMMED shut without warning, the lady giving the tour had to reopen the door, she said that it wasnt the first time it happend. I always buy items from the gift shop and I love looking at the ship from afar, it makes me think of a giant citadel holding its own army. THIS place is great for kids. It gives them the feel of History at the touch of their hands and feet! AT CHRISTMAS TIME THIS SHIP is nicely Lit up and has a STAR in lights over it. It changes every year, from a Smiley Face, Star, or something to make one remember the Holidays more

Good family fun 7/27/2005

It's not every day you can wander around on a Battleship. But here in Mobile you can see it whenever you want. Recently the changed the parking to a fee. (Bummer) But the small admission fee is worth it. The kids can check out a large portion of the ship. The ladders throughout can be a challenge for the younger crew. The submarine is my boys' favorite. There are small aircraft and even a helicopter out side. It can be really hot, so make sure you go early to avoid the crowds and heat. more

You can Never See Enough! 7/20/2005

I have been here dozens of time. You can see a little each time you come and then when you come back you get to start all over again. The USS Alabama was commissioned in 1945. You can see how they had to get around, following the exact same pathes they did. You can also check out the USS Drum submarine. This right here shows me why I am scared of the water and closed up spaces. But I still love to look at everything they have and I still buy something at the gift shop every time I am there. more
