Wow! The food here is just absolutely, totally, completely delicious. There hasn't been a dish I've tried and haven't enjoyed tremendously. ""Name that tune"" is one of my favorit...

What has happened to the price of Pad Thai? Come on people this is the spaghetti and meatballs of Thai food. Granted, I am on a budget, in a non-budget friendly location? That is ...

I dream of bangkok's Pad Thai. LOVE! more

What a disappointment! This is as far from being true Thai food as Mongolia is from Southern Argentina."Sugar" seems to be most prominent ingredient in the kitchen and when we talked to a member of the staff, their comment was that this is what the local palate is requesting. Having lived in Southeast Asia for six years, we definitely do not recommend this restaurant in case you are looking for the real thing. more

Great lunch visit! I felt the service was very good & very fast! I really enjoy the curry chicken & fried rice! The curry has a nice balance of sweet& heat, with a nice hint of coconut. Give it a try if you have 30 minutes for lunch...I promise you will be out in 20! more

They kept the kitchen open late for my party. Beautiful interior, lightning fast service, and some good Thai beer to wash down a delicious chicken and seafood pad Thai (9 bucks!). The church of Scientology across the street is a little off-putting, and the vegetable soup was shmeh, but overall a thoroughly enjoyable experience. 8.5/10 more

this definitely is NOT the best thai in Miami. we started with fried tofu...i've had better fried tofu at whole foods. we also got lemon grass soup which was just okay. took four or five spoonfuls and pushed it to the side. even still, we were excited about the pad thai but it was just bad. the actual noodles and sauce was good, but the shrimp was either undercooked or overcooked. I don't understand how you have both in one dish. and while the interior of the place is cool, it is a bit musty upon walking in. go somewhere else. more

Bad Service and Bad Food = Not Going Back 1/13/2010

Tonight we unfortunately had a horrible dining experience at Bangkok Bangkok in Coral Gables. When we got there, I asked if they were open and they said yes even though someone was already vacuuming... slow night maybe? I told my partner how great this place was and it was her first time eating there. Well, the waiter came by immediately after we sat down, informed us that the kitchen would be closing in five minutes and asked us for our drink order. Once we told him, he stood there, as if waiting for the entire food order! Seeming how we had just sat down, we explained that we obviously needed a bit more time. He came back in another minute or so, with an ""I'm already annoyed"" look on his face. I don't get it; if they didn't want us to eat there, why did they welcome us in with open arms? They could've just said they were closed and we might've come back another day for a better experience. Anyway, we ordered two coconut lemongrass soups to start and figured since they were pitching such a fit, we'd order our entree to go. While waiting for the soups, we asked our new server (who I'm sure the man sent over in his neurotic state) which of the two dishes were better. She explained that the volcano shrimp were extremely tasty and great if we like spicy, so we decided to order that. Once the soups came, (thirty seconds later) we realized quickly how little they cared about us or the quality of food they were serving. Since I am a cook and my partner in the restaurant industry, we realize that we may have a bit more of a scrutinizing eye for good food and quality service. Nevertheless, the soup was nothing but an extremely small bowl of raw white mushrooms, uncooked canned carrots, and some coconut milk. The volcano shrimp came and we just paid for our bill and got out of there before even looking at it. When we got home, we realized that they put the same ""screw you"" into our entree; the shrimp were rubbery and tasted like plastic. The ""special volcano sauce"" was nothing more than the sweet thai chili sauce you get in a bottle at Publix mixed with oil. It was nauseatingly sweet with no spice or any other dimensions of flavor. Needless to say, we left unhappy and were further displeased with the meal we ate at home. Food and service got a big “FAIL” in my book. In this economy, I would think that restaurant owners are trying harder to please their patrons and keep them coming back. Not them. My advice: When you’re craving Thai food, go anywhere else but Bangkok Bangkok. more

If you go here ask to sit in the area where you can take your shoes off and sit on cushions on the floor, very relaxing. Food is slightly better than average Asian fair, and is cheap. Not a bad place for an inexpensive lunch with co-workers, if not clients. more

Lousy service. Lousy Food. Scientologists. That should sum that up. more

Editorial review from Urbanspoon 8/11/2008

Ready for piss poor service? Bad food? And a chance to watch scientologist's? Duran Duran wouldn't even be seen filling their wolf like appetites here. more

Yes, it is Thai food, just not a lot of it... 5/5/2008

What has happened to the price of Pad Thai? Come on people this is the spaghetti and meatballs of Thai food. Granted, I am on a budget, in a non-budget friendly location? That is not to say, that I am unwilling to pay for good food. I agree with most of the previous comments. The establishment is friendly, and the atmosphere is pleasant. Nothing about the flavor stood out, good or bad. It is of course a simple dish. The takeout dinner portion was packed in a tin the size of a small paperback novel?Like the grapes of wrath, not war and peace! I have taken home bigger leftover portions. There were 3 pieces of chicken and 3 maybe 4 small shrimp. The cost with tax was over $15! I love the Gables and understand that it cost more to eat out in upscale areas. Pad Thai is what you get for takeout when you don?t want to cook, not a splurge on special occasions. If you are hungry and on a budget, I would not recommend Bangkok Bangkok II. If budget is no concern then you have probably already stopped reading? Pros: location Cons: price more

Four legged friends with wings on the wall 3/18/08 3/19/2008

There are four legged insects on the wall. Please avoid eating here at all costs. A group of 12 of us are now suffering from upset stomach after witnessing these horrific insects. Cons: four legged friends more

Best of the best 6/12/2006

Wow! The food here is just absolutely, totally, completely delicious. There hasn't been a dish I've tried and haven't enjoyed tremendously. ""Name that tune"" is one of my favorites. Tasty, tender chunks of meat with the best sauce ever.. one of the greatest things about these dishes is that you can eat the white rice with the sauce and the taste is deserving of an entree itself. The peanut dressing is really good. Service is great, ambiance and location are great. Pros: Great food, good service more

BEST of Miami! 3/25/2006

I've lived in Boston, NYC and London and since moving to Miami last fall, I have been consistently dissapointed by food and/or service. Even the Blue Door at the Delano pales in comparison to the attentive, un-pretentious and kind staff at Bangkok. The food rivals some of the best Thai I've had all over the world and is served in unique and interesting ways. It was a little haven for a New Yorker who is used to great food, great service and reasonable prices. Absolutely FANTASTIC! Pros: Attentive Service, Excellent Food, Reasonable Prices more

Good Food Good Value 2/18/2006

Both of my recent trips to Bangkok Bangkok have been very good. The food is goood and the service has been great. The menu is well priced and it has a wonderful selection of food. more

Bland Thai, poor service, avoid this place 1/4/2006

Pretty bland, especially for Thai. The food wasn't fresh and the service was spotty. Unless you're having a die hard Thai craving, this isn't worth it. The price is okay, but I will never be back. What a waste of a otherwise aesthetically pleasing space. Pros: pretty decor Cons: bland, stale food, parking, service more

On-fire-type desire for THAI! 12/9/2002

Oh, this Thai food was so good! The sauces and curries were deliciously spicy! We even had lycee fruit for dessert, virtually unheard of in other Thai restaurants we'd been to. Great atmosphere and decent prices. My friend and I went for dinner there because he had been an exchange student in Thailand 15 years ago. He agreed that the food was as he had remembered it in Thailand, and he ate the spiciest of all foods. Yum! I'm a big fan of their Thai iced tea. Enjoy! Pros: food, parking, prices Cons: tacky atmosphere more

GREAT FOOD FOR GREAT PRICE 7/30/2002

WHAT I LIKED ABOUT THIS PLACE IS THAT YOU GET A GREAT AMOUNT OF FOOD FOR A GREAT PRICE. THE THAI DONUTS ARE DELICIOUS more
