Worst dentist in this area. I went there with my wife. He overlooked a cavity so that it becomes a Root Canal. Suggested RCT for a cavity which could have filled. Gave n estimate of $4500. I took second opinion and got the cavities filled for $26 out of pocket expense. Beware going there. If you go, take second opinion. more

Baines Dental is wonderful. I have always been terrified of going to the dentist, but Dr. Baines cured me of that. They have always taken excellent care of me. Gentle, respectful and professional. They have consistently been forthright and very reasonable. I would not go anywhere else. more

If you are looking for a really good Dental Practice, this is it! I would highly recommend f or not only regular office visits, but for emergency procedures as well. I take my whole family here and we've gotten nothing but unbelievable service. I had an emergency root canal and had to come in late from the city and they took me in at the last minute, performed the root canal and even had time to give my husband a cleaning. The staff is friendly and profession, I've never had a problem with any work that was done, the prices are really fair, my insurance covers everything. It's never fun going to the dentist, but I drive out of my way to come here and it's worth it everytime! They even do a good job with my kids which isn't easy. more

I recently moved to Jersey from Manhattan and needed a local dentist to go for my dental needs. I have always had subtle problems or issues with my teeth due to my teeth grinding and/or missing teeth and have gone to the dentist often. My friend recommended Dr. Marshall. The first time I went to see him, he listened to all my concerns and made recommendations as to what I should have done first. I needed a cleaning, new mouth guard, new fillings for cracked and chipped teeth caused by grinding, extraction of both my upper wisdom tooth and to boot I wanted to get my teeth whitened. For some, that is a mouthful. LOL. For people like me, that is par for the course. I needed a dentist who not only knew what he was doing but someone who understood and was considerate of what I was going thru. Dr. Marshall was super nice and considerate. He always gave me the option of what and how much I wanted done per visit. He never tried to push me to get everything done at once since I would be in considerable amount of pain nor did he try to stretch out my visits to his office. He left it upto me. All throughout, he always asked how I was feeling and always gave me the option to make the next step. He is great. I am glad I found a dentist I can count on. I plan to go to him as long as I live in NJ. more

Geez, for the bad 1-star review... are you sure we went to the same place??? After several bad dental experiences in two states (one here in Jersey City) I was so pleasantly surprised by the service here (and did NOT find any ripped chairs!) Dr. Baines fixed a filling with some bad overhang that another dentist had screwed up, for next to nothing—and even did the tooth next to it for free. He gave me a $50 certificate for both me and my daughter for a checkup/cleaning, talked to me intelligently and like a person who could make my own decisions, and was informative. And the receptionist, who was really sweet, even babysat my daughter and printed out coloring pages for her while I was being seen. What a great place, I will not only make them my regular family dental office but I will be back soon to do some more needed work! Their prices are reasonable and they will not recommend unnecessary work. In fact I had come in for a second opinion about a root canal I didn't feel I needed, and he confirmed this after examination! I was so happy. And I was seen within 10 minutes, too! Nothing but positive experience here for me. more

Recommended the simplest and most profitable treatment for himself . Glad I sought second opinion and received restorative treatment elsewhere (rather than the recommended tooth extraction). Advertised his own pricing over alleged charges of another doctor that he was supposed to cover for during his absence. Felt like in a car dealership. Highly unethical. First room I was guided into for X-rays featured a patients chair with the cover ripped open. What a first impression ... ! Front desk staff has no empathy or sense of urgency, is not cooperative and just plain provocative. No understanding of the concept of customer service. IN SUMMARY: Truly the worst dentist experience I have ever had, including US or abroad, including private practice or student health center. I cannot imagine I am the only case of that nature. DO NOT GO THERE !!! more
