Baby Place Midwives & Birth

Do not give birth at this birthing center!!! I thought I was in awesome care during my whole pregnacy but when I went into labor this all changed. I had a horrible experience, was in active labor for over 17hrs not able to push because these Midwives would not let me. My baby was born limp, pale, unresponsive. Not to mention I had 4th degree tears and am still healing at 8 months! Come to find out the ladies that delivered my baby are student midwives, arent even licensed, and were not supervised by a Licensed Midwife! From what I was told during my labor my babies heartrate was great...after he was born and they visited us in the hospital, then they tell us his heart rate had dropped. But yet nothing was done about this while I was in labor and we had no idea!! Now this place is under investigation , so glad and hoping they will be shut down for good. I am all for natural birth and not against midwives...I just recommend not choosing The Baby Place . more

My sister's baby is currently in the NICU at St. Luke's, in critical condition, hooked up to life support, and not expected to live. If he does, he will likely have permanent and severe brain damage. This birthing center failed to transport her to the hospital when her pregnancy, labor, and delivery became high risk. She was allowed to push (thus the baby in the birth canal) for 9 hours!! Her baby was blue and not breathing when he was born. My family has since learned that A Baby Place has a history of failing to transport mothers to the hospital when needed. more

Good: I had a complication during my birth and it was not handled well.My baby started to lose his heart beat and the ambulance was not called. Instead I was told to push when I wasn't dilated. When the ambulance was FINALLY called the EMT's were told to drive to St lukes downtown 20mins away instead of Meridian 5 min away. please be sure that your midwives have an emergency plan that will actually work... and are not afraid to do it. It just may save your childs life. Improvements: The only thing I can do with my knowledge and heart break now is tell other people. I'll write every review I can to spread the word. These midwives can not handle an emergency.. Other: I'm not against home birth. My first son was born at home. I've had 2 close friends with labor emergencies that were at Treasure Valley Midwives. They are less than 5 minutes away from St Lukes Downtown and they saved both of these babies by recognizing the emergency and acting quickly.. more
