Babes Old Fashioned Hamburgers

OK, I don't normally complain, because I think that everyone/everyplace can have an 'off' day. (In fact I've NEVER complained online about a business.) .. but this is the 2nd time I've wasted time & money, so here it goes.. (Cover your eyes/ears for a minute if you don't want to hear it!) Babe's Old Fashioned Burgers (Helotes location 4/4/2013) tonight for a quick impromptu family meal, right?! Sure. Walk in the front door and met with the most unenthusiastic order-taker I've every met (and that would be an understatement as she rubbed her forehead, sighed and gave us the stare of death. When we asked her questions, she answered like we were taking the last breath out of her, and never looked up from her writing pad unless to glare at us.) Ok moving on, hope she feels better. Wait..... waiting..... waiting.... (1 hour, yes... 1 hour for 4 burgers later) we get called to go get our food. While hubby is picking up the food, I attempt to get ketchup from the 2 ketchup pumps which are empty & a mess. (I hate to bother the two teenage girl employees who are catching up behind the counter, but the cooks are watching me and not responding...) The young ladies stop their conversation long enough to roll their eyes & toss a handful of ketchup packages at my son, and then get back at their reunion. Sure. Back to the table (starving) get to take a bite of my burger. Wait? Did I order 'charred'?! Each burger is burned and hard. The cheese didn't even make it on my son's burger. I guess an hour isn't long enough to deal with 'presentation'. Oh yeah, we forgot your onion rings, you'll need to wait for those. Sure. No problem. $60+ for horrible food, and horrible service. (They never refilled the ketchup container BTW). Never again. (OK, back to your regular programming. The cook simply shrugged his shoulders & said he'd cook another one. We were never approached by anyone about the poor service, over 1 hr wait, forgotten part of the order nor burned food. My family went to eat at Babes Old Fashion Hamburgers on 10/29/2010. When we arrived every table was taken so we placed our order and waited for about 5 minutes for a table to free up. The staff immediately cleared and cleaned the table. We sat down and waited for our name to be called. After waiting for about 45 minutes I noticed that people that arrived after us were being called to get their food. My wife went and asked the manager Kim Brown why we had not been called. Kim began looking for our order and found that another guest had come and taken our order before it was called over the speaker. She apologized and said she would get the order replaced right away. Kim immediately jumped into the kitchen area and began helping to prepare and cook the order. Within 5 minutes she had the order ready and brought the order to us. She apologized again and asked if we needed anything else. We began eating and after awhile the manager Kim Brown came over and handed us some gift certificates and said that she wanted to do this to make up for the experience. At this point I was blown away. I understand mistakes happen as humans make mistakes, but it is how you recover from a mistake that makes all the difference. This is a great example of ?Perfect Service? from a restaurant. I have eaten at restaurants that charge $100 a plate and not been as impressed. Way to go Babes Old Fashion Hamburgers! Not to mention that the restaurant was clean, the staff was friendly, and the food was great. This one experience will ensure that I will continue to support this business on a ongoing basis. more

I had a cheese burger and it was delicious! Also the fried mushrooms and the onion rings are great! Everything is made from scratch and there is no frozen food! Best milkshakes also! more
