Dominoes is better!!! 6/1/2011

Service was bad. Stood 5 minute before anyone showed up to seat us. The food was terrible. It started with some cheap bread and I don't know how you can screw up salad but it was like eating lettuce soaked in mayo. Yes the owner came around but who cares about that when the food is bad. When the owner asked and I told him I was disappointed he could care less anyways. Seriously should have just ordered from dominoes and would have gotten better food, service and saved a lot of money. Luckily they were out of calamari else I am sure that would have been a waste of more money. Also don't ever take young kids there, it is not kid friendly by any means. more

Its Not Amore! 2/12/2010

From the minute we walked into the door we shouldve walked right back out. The owner greeted us at the door we had a good feeling this was going to be a great traditional italian experience...we were sadly mistaken. First we sat down and waited 15 minutes while waitresses walked back and forth avoiding eye contact with us so they would not have to wait on us. The waitress finally shows up to take our order we heard everything was good at this restauraunt so we did not hesitate ordering any of the italian dishes. I ordered a cream/ marinara sauce pasta dish with mostacholi noodles, my boyfriend ordered a lemon sauce chicken that sounded like it was going to be delicious. I also ordered a glass of wine. The wine came I ordered a decent glass of Merlot the bottle tasted like it had been opened weeks prior to my tasting it was hard to complete this glass threw out the meal. The bread arrived also it was bland and looked like something you would pull out of your freezer for an at home italian dinner. The salad the was wilted and not fresh the dressing was a creamy spicy italian and was decent tasting. Then the worst part of the whole experience came and that was our meals, my pasta was a $14.00 dollar dish and was okay tasting but had no flavor really and seemed pretty bland compared to the description. My boyfriend had the $15.00 chicken picatta the sauce was some lemony tasting gravy with capers to mask the taste, not the light tasting lemon wine sauce, we've had with previous chicken picatta orders at italian restauraunts. He could not complete his meal the sauce was too bitter and the chicken was not of good quality. All and all the bill came and we were slammed with a $60.00 dollar check for a bad meal including bad glasses of wine. I would not recommend Antonuccis to anyone who is seeking a good quality italian experience...although i hear there pizzas are great and looked good the items we ordered were not good italian quality for the price. Stick with pizza at this place if your looking for something else on the menu head elswhere. Pros: walking out the door dont waste your time or money Cons: too many to list... more

Antonucci's has dropped the ball! 11/7/2008

We had dinner there last evening and unfortunately, we probably won't be going back. We ordered two glasses of wine. One glass had lipstick all over the rim. A basic server requirement is to always look at the glass before pouring and we watched our waitress pour the wine so she was responsible. One of us ordered a pasta special and one ordered gnocchi with tomatoes and basil. I asked the owner, Bob, if the gnocchi was made in house and he indicated they were made by Pasta Mia. I decided to try it anyway knowing that Pasta Mia has a good reputation for fresh pastas. We were first brought salads which while the dressing had a good flavor, the lettuce was mostly iceberg (little to no nutritional value) and was saturated with dressing. On top of that, we watched the waitress from afar ""beat"" the lettuce with a pair of tongs to mix it with the dressing, totally bruising and wilting what we're guessing was once crispy. We requested garlic bread, our mistake. I could be wrong but it looked and tasted like something you'd get out of the freezer. It certainly wasn't freshly made and it tasted like, well, paper. Our entrees came and while the pasta special looked and smelled fair, the gnocchi was in a pool of canned tomatoes and juice. I disagree with Bob, the owner. The gnocchi wasn't good. Maybe it wasn't fresh, maybe it was overcooked. The ""soft potato pillows"" were truly a disappointment and the canned tomato sauce even worse. On a positive note, I hear that their pizzas are killer! more

Superb Choice for Our Anniversary 3/28/2008

I was looking for an Italian restaurant to take my wife for our 15th anniversary. I remembered seeing somewhere that Antonucci's was voted best in Orange County. We gave it a try and ""WOW"" what a great place. We would consider this to be one of the best in Southern California. It's the kind of place where the owner greets you as you walk in the door and knows he's never seen you before, so it's your first time. Decor is cozy and a lounge/sports bar shares half of the restaurant. Italian favorites like 'That's Amore', 'Oh Lori', and songs from 'The Godfather' movie play overhead. The owner is proud to point out that there are 97 menu choices as he personally recommends his favorites. We overheard him speaking in Italian with some of the other patrons who were true Italians. We had meat lasagna and chicken rigatoni and both were outstanding. We can't wait to place a to-go order for one of their unique pizzas. We highly recommend Antonucci's over any of the other local Italian restaurants like Peppino's or Sabatino. We only wish we had tried them years ago. - Salud! Pros: Food, Ambience, Wine Choices, Very Friendly Staff Cons: Tucked back in a small shopping center more

A REAL JEWEL - THE BEST OF THE BEST!!! GREAT PIZZA, FOOD & SERVICE... 2/7/2008

You can't go wrong with anything you order here!! Their pizza is crispy and served HOT! They have wonderful fish dishes, crisp salads, excellent pasta and yummy desserts. They've recently added on with a beautiful martini bar with additional seating on the ""new side"" (very different feeling than the other side; I actually prefer the ""other"" side...great ambiance! What makes this so special is that special feeling from the owners Bob & Michelle who always stop by the table or greet you like an old friend (tell them chef valerie says ""hello"")... Pros: The pizza, the food, the owners Bob & Michelle!!! Cons: not a thing more

Terrific Old-Fashioned Italian Restaurant 9/26/2007

This is a family-run restaurant in a suburban family neighborhood ... but if you're driving several miles to get here, it's worth it! The food is OUTSTANDING! Salads are fresh, pleniful, and excellent ingredients; Pizza is hot, gooey, crisp crust, plentiful ingredients; Pastas are perfectly cooked, seasoned and excellent choices from traditional to relatively imaginative. You get delicious focaccia on the table (you might need to ask for it ... and be sure to ask for olive oil and balsamic vinegar for dipping.) The owner still walks around and chats with all customers; he's VERY sincere and friendly - and it's VERY inviting for families with kids (ours are 3 and 5, and we go here often.) Service can be relaxed (aka slow), so don't expect to get in and out in less than an hour. But it's an enjoyable place to relax and enjoy your meal, so just don't rush it! If you're in a hurry, they have a take-out window in the front ... their pizza at home would be the best ""at home"" dinner you'll ever have! Pros: FOOD, FOOD and FOOD! Cons: none! more

Great Value 6/14/2004

Pizza is a knock out-wood fired brick oven will bring out the best in any crust. Only the finest ingredients, amply applied, creates a very satistying pizza. The only regret is if you ate it all the first sitting, there's none left for breakfast. Great-Great-Great! Pros: great value, the best ingredients, consistent Cons: , distance from home more

Fabulous food.....warm ambiance. 5/12/2004

The food is amazing and the portions are more than generous. The owner takes time to make sure all customers are happy with their food and their service. I watched him walk around to all of the tables to shake hands with the regulars and introduce himself to the new comers. It's a very warm and fun-loving environment. The pizza is outstanding! I suggest the lobster ravioli. You have a choice of soup or salad, the salad is the best! And....don't leave without trying a meatball!! Best of all....moderately priced. more
