  • Water Lovers' Paradise
Lake Amistad, the nation's third-largest man-made lake, boasts an amazing 1,000 miles of shoreline on the United States/Mexico Border. Water sports enthusiasts will be hard-pressed to make a decision about what to do first: swim, fish, scuba dive, boat (rentals available) or sail.

    Romp and Relax
If water sports don't sound appealing, walk across the bridge to spend an afternoon in Ciudad Acuña, a delightful little border town with the feel of Old Mexico. Lake Amistad is also perfect for picnicking, camping and hunting. Springtime provides great photo opportunities with abundant cactus blossoms and wildflowers.

    Under the Stars
Beyond excellent recreation, this area is rich in archeology and rock art. For a little culture, educational entertainment is provided at the Governors Landing Amphitheater, whose programs cover everything from the rock art of the lower Pecos region to a slide show of the constellations.
