Thank you Amerigos!! 2/4/2008

I held my twin sisters baby shower at Amerigos and it turned out wonderful! Our party had 33 people and Amerigos had a room towards the back that was perfect for this private party (It looks like it could hold 50 ppl). The staff organized an amazing buffet and they were so pleasant to our guests. From the mimosas to the incredible sticky-buns (a must have if you visit this place) the party was perfect. I even had guests order gift certificates on their way out. Thank you Amerigos for an affordable yet high-end brunch for my family. We will all certainly be back. **I want to mention that it was great that they let us in early to decorate for the shower. Again, the management and staff were excellent. Thank you Amerigos!! Pros: Gourmet food recipes, staff and pricing. Great room for parties too!! more

Food was excellent, service is not up to par 1/8/2008

I work in the Lake Oswego area and have frequented most of the various L.O. lunch spots. After eating my food at Amerigo's, I was delighted to find reasonably priced, high quality meals just a short drive from my office. I still have to give a "Below Average" rating because the service was horrible. The waitress was unable to make eye contact, missing in action for most of the meal and very unfriendly when she did decide to stop by the table. When it came time to pay the bill she had almost disappeared entirely. It was so bad we decided to just get up and take our check to the front so we could pay and leave the premises. When we got up to pay the check the server avoided us. I did not leave a tip. The food is good and the service is comparable to a trip to the DMV or DEQ. Pros: Good food. Cons: Rude staff. more

Qquestionable experiance 2/26/2007

I had set out for a wonderful experiance at amerigos. The resteraunt had been recommended so my husband and i thought we should give it a try. Our experiance began with us waiting for five minutes before we were offered a seat, most ungraciously. "How many" were the first two words spoken to us. Once we were placed in the back of their cafeteria, we began our wait. It took about six minutes before an unfriendly and abrubt server with dark hair and tennis-shoes "greeted" us. It felt like we bad for being there. We couldn't actually order food for fiteen minutes. When our crabcakes finally came out, they were cold and dry. Upon informing our server, she merely removed the plate. While waiting for our main coarse to arrive, our beverages went empty and weren't refilled. Once my alfredo fettucini and my husbands potroast were delivered, the experiance got worse. We were left with a table of dirty side dishes, and our food was lukewarm due to sitting under a heatlamp for five minutes. The alfredo was pathetic; not only thick and bland, but lacking in any garlic or flavor. My husbands potroast on the other hand, was still relatively warm and had some flavor to it; then we noticed the curly black hair protruding from his mashed potatos, and decided to wait for the servers return to bring our problems to her attention. Roughly ten minutes later, she breifly apologized and removed the dishes. She then offered us desert on the house, which we declined, and the quickly brought us our bill with a quick mention of "whenever your ready". So we paid, left fifteen percent, and quickly removed ourself from the awful and strange enviroment. In short, I would dissuade any adventurers from exploring this venue; not only was the service and enviroment awkward and incomplete, the food was mediocre and uninspiring. I would reccomend the people of lake oswego leave this resteraunt alone and stick to the tried and tested eateries just down the street. Pros: Good wine selection Cons: everything else more

Absolutely Unacceptable 2/26/2007

I have been here when Amerigo's first opened and I thought it was great. Lateley however within the last 5 months it has gone dowhill. On several occoasions that I have dined in it has been terrible. Just this last Saturday I came in for a Brunch / Lunch with my husband and a friend. We seated promptly, but a server did not aknoledge us for atleast 10 minutes. When he arrived he asked for our drink order. 15minutes passed and nothing came. One of the servers asked if would like any refills, I said we have not even got our drink orders yet so no we would not. The server finally came with our coffees. We were ready to order but he immediatly left to to the kitchen, I assumed an order had come up so he had to get it for another table, but no he was leisurely walking around. He finally came back 10 minutes later for our order. I ordered soup special, chili and a salad w/o dressing, my husband biscuits & gravy, our friend eggs and bacon. 15 min later my soup came out I took a try and it was cold, not lukewarm but cold. By now I am a little ticked off, so they return it and it takes them oh another 15 minutes for it to come out again. After another 12 minutes and 4 cups of coffee we get our main course finally. The servers seemed oblivious to what was going on, and that made the experience even worse. I begged my husband not to tip our server because he clearly did not deserve it . I will not return. more

Have yet to be disappointed! 11/8/2006

This place is a great place to eat at. I have had lunch, dinner, and take out. No matter if I am eating at Amerigo's or in my office, the food is wonderful. It is definitely a place you have to try whether you sit down and eat or are to busy and need to pick up lunch. Pros: Everything is great more

Consistently great meals & service in Lake Oswego 11/6/2006

I have had both lunch and dinner at Amerigo's a number of times, and have yet to have a bad meal. Everything is fresh and excellently prepared and the wait staff has always been courteous and friendly. My only complaint is that I wish they would offer whole-grain pasta and bread choices on their menu. Pros: Food Quality, Parking, Service Cons: Need more whole-grain and vegetarian choices more

Great Brunch 11/4/2006

I am giving Amerigo's 5 stars because, well, that's what they deserve! The food is consistently excellent and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere is congenial if just a touch noisy when they are at their busiest. The outside seating is very comfortable, especially on a pleasant northwest summer day. We are regulars who visit 3-4 times per month -- virtually always for Sunday brunch. Other reviewers have raved about the Salmon Northwest Joe's breakfast which is one of our favorites. The complimentary cinnamon rolls for breakfast are a terrific touch -- and delicious! Their biscuits are fantastic, as well. I notice that Citysearch lists the cross street as "Kruss Way." It should actually be "Kruse Way" so don't let this trip you up. They are easy to find -- just look for Azteca Restaurant right on Kruse Way and you will find Amerigo's nestled in behind it. Overall, I can't say enough about how lucky we are to have such a great restaurant so near. Keep up the great work! more

Full of Flavor 10/2/2006

I was amazed at how diffently some of the dishes were prepared. The salad even tasted extremely flavorful. I had the Jambalaya and it was DELICIOUS. It wasn't spicy hot, but some heat was there. It was one of the most flavorful entrees I have ever eaten. Imagine smelling a rosebud (Jambalaya elsewhere), then smell the rose in bloom. That's Amerigo's!! Pros: Fantastic food Cons: little pricey more

What a value! 8/1/2006

This is sophisticated home cooking at its best! How in the world does this place serve such generous and tasty portions at such a value? I can't buy groceries and cook for these prices. Dinners come with soup or salad. Their Portland clam chowder is THE best chowder I've ever had! Full of flavor, but not over seasoned -- just like the rest of their dishes. And the wine selection is fantastic! I feel so lucky Amerigo's is on my way home from work! more

Lucky Lake Oswego!! 6/18/2006

Have just come from Amerigos for the 2nd time! I am from Portland and met a group of friends for dinner the first visit....came on my own this time! Lucky Lake Oswego! This is a real breath of fresh air. Locally owned, family oriented and everything on the menu is made from scratch. Right down to the mustard and catsup, as I understand it! Had the corned beef sandwich and it was "to die for!" I was told it is air freighted in from the East Coast. This, in my opinion, is what corned beef is all about. Also tried the Grilled Chicken Breast, Fresh Pears and Toasted Hazelnut pasta. It is tossed with a gorgonzola sauce and touch of hazelnut liqueur. Yummmm! There is an outside dining patio, however, it hasn't been open due to the chilly, rainy weather we've been having. It does accomodate quite a few people for those who enjoy outdoor dining. The staff is friendly and helpful. They also have a really great wine and beer selection....reasonably priced. Oh! And the desserts!! Oh, the desserts! A great selection of homemade ice creams and sorbets also! A must for anyone who visits this restaurant. I encourage anyone who is looking for a new "regular" spot to frequent to try this place. It's well worth the drive!! Nao2u Pros: This is sure more than just Italian!! Cons: Hard to see from Kruse Way! more

Excellent Food, Breakfast is best in town! 6/17/2006

What a find! I recently visited Amerigo's New Foods Grill again and had to let people know how great it is! The food is excellent, the service is quick and friendly, and the prices are great. I have been in for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner and have never been disappointed. The portions sizes are generous, the food gets to you in a hurry, and their homemade bread is wonderful. When you go try the Portland Clam Chowder, and my personal favorite is the Cajun Jambalaya Pasta. The Desserts are all homemade as well; the Tiramisu and the Eclairs are very good. Everything on the menu is available for take-out, there is ample outdoor seating, and the restaurant is very family friendly. Good job Amerigos! more
