I love my Shiba Inu I got from here. Hook is about 2 years old now, and is truly an amazing dog! He was a little rough around the edges for the first 2 years, but after some serious training with them and being on and off the phone he’s turned out alright, I think. I’m very happy they were there for me and were able to help me with training. I think without them it would have been a huge mess! But now Hook’s fine and everyone is pretty impressed by him. Very thankful! more

My friends and I had been discussing getting a dog, I live with 2 other people. We all wanted one but were unsure of what to get. My roommates parents actually had bough a dog a few months earlier and they said they went to American Puppy. The 3 of us walked in and you could tell we were in for a surprise. We decided to split the puppy 3 ways, since it would be all of ours and we each picked out a puppy to see which one would come home. My roommate Amanda’s choice had won. We wanted something easy going but not to laid back because we do walk at night. We ended up with a Walrus puppy, now if that isn’t the cutest name you’ve ever heard! We (as corny as it sounds) call him Walle, he does everything! He comes on night walks with us, he sleeps during the day, he’s frisky and playful, he’s just perfect. The 3 of us are very happy and the pups happy and healthy! more

I purchased a beagle from here about a year ago and my family and I decided to purchase another one! I know call us crazy, but this time we wanted something a little different. Oh boy did we get it! We got Roxy who is the newest addition to our household. She’s a beagle French bulldog mix. So adorable! She gets along great with Reme (our beagle) and we’re very happy with our second purchase. They gave us some extra toys and were super friendly and they seemed a little more excited than my kids at times, but overall it was just as good as the first experience. more

Naner is our new Maltese X Brussels mix and she is tough as nails! She has a great personality and gets along great with my other dogs. I was a little worried at first because she was so small, but she proved that size does not matter! I also have two Labs who she’s made bow down her. She’s everything I hoped for! more

It was a Friday night, my wife had been talking about getting a dog for the family for awhile. With my two older children doing well in school, and our schedules (mine and my wife’s) opening up, I took a stop into American Puppy Club. The staff was nice, and they all seemed very knowledgeable. My wife had been saying she wanted either a German Shepherd or some other larger breed. Her biggest reservation with the Shepherd was the shedding. When I stopped in they had a few larger breeds and after talking to the girls for a little bit, they put me in with a Bullmastiff. He was dopy and big, very big. I immediately fell in love with his personality. I spent all in all about an hour or so there with the dog. I left and spent a couple days doing research on the breed. True to form what the girls had told me matched everything I read and I felt confident that this breed would suit our family very well. When I went back a few days later, I asked for the dog and some one was playing with him. I waited about 20 minutes, and the girls handed him over to me. We went through a load of paperwork, and after all was said and done I was leaving with a puppy. My wife was thrilled and excited. She was the first one to see the puppy and got to spend some bonding time with him. My kids who came home later that evening were equally as thrilled. I don’t think I could have made a better choice. Very happy. more

I was recently at American Puppy Club and I found my boxer puppy. Thor has been home for a week and half now and we are well on our way to being housebroken. He listens very well. I stick to a schedule like the girls told me and so far so good. I’m excited to bring him back for training soon! Thanks American Puppy! more

My Kids wanted to go into look at puppies, and I agreed (foolishly). We went in and my kids all picked out puppies, the girls were nice enough to let us see a few. The last puppy my kids let me pick out, which was probably a mistake! I asked to see a female chocolate Cocker Spaniel and immediately fell in love with her! I was so silly to think that we were actually going to just play with a puppy! I called my husband and asked him what he thought about getting a dog and surprisingly he was all for it (not really knowing my intentions). I dropped my kids off at home and told them I had to run a few errands. 2 hours later I came walking in with the baby chocolate Cocker Spaniel, my kids and my husband were very surprised! We’ve had great luck with Cinderella (Cindy for short, yes my kids named her!), she had no accidents after 2 weeks of having her and she already gives paw and sits. We absolutely adore her! more

Over the weekend, I stopped in with my sister to see the puppies. They were all so cute and cuddly! We went in just to play but fell in love with cutest Yorkie puppy! She was absolutely adorable and tiny! After talking with my sister for awhile on the puppy and of course back and forth with my parents my sister and I decided to get her! She is near perfect! We’re working on housebreaking right now, and the girls at American Puppy keep calling and giving me tips. I think it’s wonderful, where as my sister doesn’t answer her phone so they call me. Sophia - which is what we named her, is amazing and I can’t thank them enough. more

Twice the Fun!! 12/13/2011

I purchased two Maltese together a few weeks ago. I can’t believe how easy they are together. I was apprehensive in the beginning but the girls were right, it’s a breeze compared to what I was thinking. Everyone was extremely polite and professional. Any question I had they jumped right to it. It was unbelievable how much information they knew. There were no books, or guesses or looking like they had no idea what they were talking about. All very professional. And HAPPY! Everyone was constantly smiling. it’s a very warm place. And no problems with the pups. Both checked out perfectly happy at my vet. more

Very Happy 11/4/2011

My german shepherd is a beautiful dog. I lost my previous shepherd almost 2 years prior to getting Max. My wife wasn't really ready (so she said) until she saw him. It was love at first sight and she knew it. She gave in mostly because i wanted him and fell in love (so she tells me). He's a great dog, great personality and great look. Not really ready for a second but my overall experience was great. I appreciate it. more

Perfect dog for Outdoors! 7/27/2011

I spent about two months looking for a standard schnauzer, which is the middle size. I did an extraordinary amount of research on the breed. It started by me just surfing the web trying to figure out what breed would fit my life style. I hike, I run, surf, camp, the whole nine yards. I'm a very active on the go person, and I needed a breed that would meet my need for activity. After typing in what characteristics I wanted or needed out of a dog, this was one that popped up. I loved the fact that they don't shed, they're a medium sized dog, definitely an active breed! I also saw that they came in a few different colors (almost like camping gear, you get to chose your color. Ha). I saw an ad in the Asbury Park Press for American Puppy Club, I called and explained what i was looking for. They said they did ordering, and if I didn't like the one they brought in I didn't have to take it. I accepted that and before placing an order I knew I wanted to see the place first. I drove up to Middletown, and came to find the facility was immaculate! No musky smell, no urine or feces. The puppys were bouncing around, some were sleeping, but above all they had food and water with them, and they looked clean! They also had toys and little blankets in them which I thought was a nice touch. This was definitely unlike any other place I'd ever been to. I talked to one of the girls, explained again what I was looking for, she stopped me mid-sentence and said I had spoken to her on the phone and understood what I wanted. She left for a few minutes came back and said we could place the order today. I placed the order for a female salt and pepper standard schnauzer. However i specified certain markings I wanted and asked if that were possible, she said they'll try their hardest and if I don't like what they bring in, they'll bring in more for me until im completely satisfied. I waited about three and a half weeks before I got my first phone call. They had a puppy for me to look at! I went in extremely excited but did not get my hopes up. I sat with the puppy for a little bit, and was a little apprehensive about the puppy. Of course the girl came over and asked how I was doing. I told her I was uncertain about the puppy and asked if I could come back the next day to sit with her again. She said absolutely and wanted to make sure I was comfortable before I took anything home! I went back the next day sat with her for about an hour and decided I liked her personality and her markings were where I wanted them to be. The first day I sat with her she didn't interact with me which is why I was apprehensive about taking her right then and there. The second day she really came out of her shell. I was extremely impressed. Now two years later, she's fortyfive pounds, built and an unbelievable companion. I could not have asked for a better dog! Training was farely easy, every puppy has their ups and downs. I've been thinking about a second standard, maybe all black this time. I will definitely be going back to American Puppy for my second, just as soon as i figure out what I want. more

My Husband and Kids teamed up on me! 7/27/2011

My family and i were buying a new mattres, which just so happened to be right next to American Puppy. My kids were begging and pleading to go look at the puppies, my husband and I agreed. My husband took them over to play with puppies but said they'd be back within fifteen to twenty minutes. After about twentyfive minutes, and us all squared away with our new mattres, I too took a walk to American Puppy. My husband and two children were sitting in the very first room, playing with a scottish terrier, who was a yellowish blondeish color. My HUSBAND! Of all people looked me in the eyes and begged!!!! To take the puppy home! My children than of course followed. We had the girl pull up all the information on her, and after another twentyfive minutes decided this was going to be our puppy, all i could think was man am I a sucker! My kids and husband know exactly what to do to get there way. Anyway, buying from American Puppy, was probably the best and easiest experience I've ever had. The one girl took the puppy in the back to get cleaned up, and another girl showed us everything we would need for our new puppy! This was very helpful because we had no animals at home and haven't had any animals since my children were born (9 and 14). The kids were so happy but I think my husband was a little more excited, him and the kids picked out everything while I again got stuck with paperwork. After everything we were able to go, the fortunate thing out of this story was I got to name her. Shortstuff, because she has these little legs and a long body. The cutest thing I've come across, although everyone says that about their own dogs. I'm extremely thankful to American Puppy for all the help they provided, and thankful to my kids and husband for going in. more

Extremely Kind 7/27/2011

About two Christmas' ago I walked into American Puppy Club, I was extremely down. I had just lost my father about a month prior and this would be my family's first christmas with out him. Things just were not the same. I walked around, looking at all the puppies for a little bit. One in particular puppy kept jumping out at me. She was this short, fat, stubby, Jack Russell Terrier. She would hop and jump up every time i passed her window. When I would walk away she would sit. I asked to play with her and she absolutely captured my heart (not just because i was already sad). To this day I love her with all my heart. The girl who helped me with her said they rarely ever bring in Jack Russells. And I was lucky to have found such a perfect puppy. She came home with me and made that Christmas a very warm and happy Christmas. My mother was exceptionally thankful to get her mind off things and have a little squishy bundle of joy to hug and squeeze. more

Very Happy! 7/13/2011

My Tasha came from here. They treated her wonderfully. She was so happy and so full of energy when I first took her out to play with her. She was amazing! She brought toys to me, she hopped in my lap, she gave my kids kisses. She's the cutest Golden Retriever i've ever seen (although that's probably because she's mine ). She took to housebreaking very well! It took about 3 and a half weeks for her to have no accidents what so ever in the house. She's about six months old and we took her to her first training session. She did AMAZING! With the trainer and with us. Listened immediately, followed instructions to a ""T""! The trainer pointed out how she kept looking at us as we would walk or say something, he said the bond between her and our family was unbelievably strong for only having her for four months! Of course that made me and my family very happy and she got loved and kissed for a few minutes. The trainers loved having her around and playing with her. She actually talked another family into the Golden they were looking at! Tasha has been such a joy to have and as our first puppy she is unbelievable! What an amazing experience and we owe a lot of that to American Puppy Club. They really did stand up to their word, they called us to check in, they gave us an outline as to how the day should go. And they helped us with the training. As far as getting a second one, well we'll see. One is pretty much enough for now. But a second wouldn't be too bad, just talking my husband into it is the hard part! more

Dont make the same MISTAKE that I made 6/29/2011

I didnt plan going in this store, but boy did they see me coming. I think I just wanted to be around dogs for a few minutes, my shepherd passed away not too long ago. The girl got me talking and I mentioned how my dog was sick. She said I came to the right place because their dogs have health guarantees. She took out a binder filled with articles about how horrible puppy mills are, and she went on to tell me that they are the only pet store in Middletown doesnt buy from puppy mills. She said they do things differently, and thats why theyre so successful. She went on and on about the whole business end of it. She had me thinking this was a legitimate thing. I was probably easier to convince after I started playing with the pup who is now my dog. Long story short, I got home and I looked up the breeder from my dogs papers. SURPRISE SURPRISE A PUPPY MILL WAS WRITTEN RIGHT ON THE PAPERS. Not that I knew that in the store (if only I had my iphone then). To top it off, the breeder was charged with animal cruelty and calls dogs livestock. His facility was cited for non-compliances to the Animal Welfare Act in the areas of housing, cleaning, veterinary care, records, compatible grouping, feeding, primary enclosures, and identification. Yep, all of this info was a few clicks away. But I didnt click in the store. I had a puppy in my hands. Before you visit that store, read about the House of Pets in Ohio (House of Horrors). Thats where my Middletown puppy came from. I feel embarrassed that my money supported a place like that. more

Clean, Sweet, and Pure! 5/9/2011

Exceptionally clean!!!! As soon as you walk in you don't get hit with that nasty smell of urine and dogs, it actually smells very clean! The puppies look so wonderful, fluffy and happy. Very well taken care of! They staff doesn't mind if you ask questions, or ask to play with one. They don't act like your bothering them like other pet stores do. The trainers actually sit and talk to you and make you feel like your a person! And they cover everything from A-Z! Housebreaking, feeding, playtimes, nap times, taking the puppy to the vet, and all sorts of other stuff. I highly recommend anyone looking for a puppy here. Best around for sure! more

Great Place 3/17/2011

I really had a great time there. I was off and on about haveing a puppy so I went in there a few times. The girls there are so knowledgable and helpful and if they didnt know any answers, they found out for me. I ended up getting a schnoodle. I never heard of the breed, but fell in love with him! He is a schnauzer and poodle mix. Designer Mix is what they are called now lol. To make a long story short, I absolutely adore him. I suggest anyone looking for a puppy go to American puppy club. more

Happy. Very Happy. 3/15/2011

I purchased my yorkie puppy from here two weeks ago. I'm very thrilled with him. Since i've had him home hes been a very good boy. Not to many complaints. The girls call in regularly to check in on him. Which im very happy about. House training him was proving to be a little more than i had anticipated, but the girls helped me out gave me a few pointers and now were on the right track. Hes been a very good boy, no problems other than the house training and he was biting alot. but the girls too helped me with that. Overall i'm very pleased with him. more
