Rude customer service - will not visit 4/27/2012

I cannot speak for the quality of the plants that this place has, as my experience of making a basic query was such that I decided that I would not want to give any money to this place. The woman who answered the phone was snappy and rude and unable to provide answers to the simplest questions without attitude. I wasted five minutes trying to find out from this abrupt woman if they had in stock what I was looking for and the price range. Finally, a man took the phone and actually answered my two simple questions with simple answers: yes they carry them and gave the price range. Simple. If only he had answered the phone and not this woman, but unfortunately by that time I had already decided to take my business somewhere where potential customers are treated with at least basic courtesy. more

horrible place 5/15/2011

Their manager was in college years ago, there is no way he left to go back to college. I wouldn't claim that ""Alpine's"" products are reliable. After buying Alberta Spruces last year from him they died 3 weeks after planting. Had another garden center specialist come out to the house and found out the shrubs were infested with insects. Bought Albertas from Plochs, 8 months later their thriving and they were CHEAPER. Was there yesterday, look closely at their plants they're INFESTED with aphids, mealybug eggs, some even have diseases. They put no effort into quality. See for yourselves go there and look for white spots on their plants. more

A Great Nursery! A Great Owner! 5/1/2011

Not only have I not seen a decline at alpine, I have always had the same experience there: reliable products; great advice; reasonable products; and an owner who makes me smile! I recently sought Allen's help in purchasing azaleas (as a southerner I long for the Azales Trails). He gave me the best, most beautiful azaleas I have seen at prices that were fair and reasonable, discounted for volume! My neighbors stopped and asked for a referral, which I provided with pride and confidence that they will be treated well. The nursery recently lost a long term manager who went off to college so they may be training a new crew, but with a little patience, especially on Saturdays, you will get what you need at Alpine and like I said, if you are interested in being in good cheer, Allen will make you laugh! BUY ALPINE! IT IS THE BEST! more

BEST NURSERY AROUND!!!! 5/1/2011

I have gone to many nursies around the country But through out my life I come to this it makes me feel at home. For anyone who believes it is a bad nursery well maybe it is time to take another look. I know the owner does his best at everything to make every customer happy, he will never give up making people happy with this nursery. Every time I have been there there is a lot of service to help me andnthey all know everything about plants, vegetables, and etc. Their variety in stock is also extensive and the best I have seen around not like the box stores. Also the quality of all their products I have found extremely reasonable prices. Al in all, I really adore Alpine Nursery And it hurts me to see people write unreasonable reviews. When you go here you will enjoy it from beginning to end :) more

disorganized & disgusted 4/30/2011

This place has gone down hill over the years, and I will not be going back. I was there this past weekend to start my gardening and it takes forever for someone to help you. Any worker who is free that you can talk to and ask for help, they need to run inside and get someone else because they don't know anything about gardening. On top of waiting for someone its usually the owner who comes out to help, and he is very nasty claiming that he's too busy with other stuff. When asking where a particular plant is, he just says ""over there"" and doesn't show you. BUYER BEWARE more

Good ole Alpine 2/25/2007

Far and away a better shopping experience than anything you'll find at a big-box store. I might be clumsy with plants, but I'm getting better at gardening and it's partly because of advice from Gerard and the rest of the crew. They get the most colorful petunias I've seen so far. There is very little that the owners and crew do not know about plants or how to care for them, and they always have handy and useful supplies in stock. Can identify almost any type of cutting and will give you great advice on caring for them. If you're like me (a Home Goods & Marshall's nut) you'll find yourself stopping at the nursery every week just to see what they have.\r Only one drawback -- a neighbor bought a Christmas tree there once and thought she might have overpaid. Judge that for yourself. more
