This has been the worst moving experience and the biggest waste of money I have ever endured. My suggestion to All State Van Lines Relocation is that they obtain a new carrier for pick-up / delivery of furniture, Smart Moving, Inc. is the most unprofessional company I have ever had to work worth. From the moment they picked up the furniture it was evident that they had did not care about our property, they tossed it around and taped it in a way that I knew would not arrive in one piece at its destination. Sure enough, they were 5 days late from their original promised due date of delivery and we had so much damage to our furniture that it was not worth the transport. Also, they did not honor their contract as they lost the pieces necessary to build my daughter's bedroom set and therefore, we did not have delivery as promised. There were two individuals that made the delivery and I can tell you that one of them was extremely rude and unpleasant and lied to the Broker when he told them that he would not leave the house until he built the bed and that was certainly not the case. There are so many other issues but for now I leave you with this. Do your homework and trust your gut instinct when choosing a moving company. DO NOT ALLOW A SMOOTH TALKING SALESMAN to entice you with comfort when the reviews speak for themselves. If All State Van Lines is contracting SMART MOVING, INC. to transport your furniture DO NOT SIGN A CONTRACT....HEAD FOR THE HILLS Or you will pay dearly both with emotionally and financially. more

Relentless, mindless marketing 10/8/2014

I made the mistake of loggnig into their site, thinking it eas unloading help. The central "hub" for all thesr movng sites has a name similar to "poer movers. Never make the mostake of mis-typing the uRL. good lord did my phone ring, and there's no stopping it. No amount of begging could get the various companies to stop.. beware! more

haven't moved yet but getting close,however the customer service,pricing and explanation of their services was well above the best I spoke to. Tracy Brown was verry good explaining all fazes of the of the move door to door and if packing was required how,when and how much all would be. dealing with young lady you have verry few questions because she covers everything so well. and believe me that makes for a verry stress free transaction in one of the most stressful things you will ever have to deal with I'll up date this when the move is completed. thanks again tracy charlie mcneal more

Scam Artists 9/29/2014

I recently moved from NY to CA for a new job. I was told that once my goods were picked up they would be shipped to CA for storage until I was ready for delivery. My goods were picked up on August 7th and were not shipped until Mid-September, and yet I still had to pay for "storage". After multiple phone calls, I finally reached a supervisor who divulged the number of the carrier company to me so that I may contact them directly. That was the only way way to get factual, detailed information regarding my delivery. There were almost weekly delays on my shipment, despite the fact that I had given almost a month's notice of my preferred delivery date. I was not provided the exact weight of my shipment until about 2 days prior to the delivery. I had to beg for the shipping company to send it directly to my email in advance of delivery. When I decided to dispute that my mainly plywood furniture could not possibly weigh just under 3,000 pounds I was offered the option of having my shipment re-weighed as a "courtesy" to me. My delivery was already in transit. This meant that despite the fact that I had just moved across the country by myself, with no relatives or friends in CA, and that even though I had no available means of transportation, I was supposed to figure out a way to meet the driver at the nearest weighing station to have him verify the weight of the shipment THAT DAY. It was a work day and I was already in the office trying to arrange to leave early so that I may be present for my delivery later that afternoon. What a courtesy! Overall I think that the most horrifying part of this entire process has been the lack of empathy and assistance from the customer service team. I have never in my life encountered so many soulless employees working in a customer service department.Upon escalating my complaints I was offered a $100 refund for my issues with the customer service that I had been provided with. After over-paying thousands of dollars this is a laughable amount. Worst service ever! more

Nightmare move - worst customer service that I have ever experienced! 9/29/2014

Do yourself a favor and do not hire this company! My move from NY to CA was horrendous all because of them. Although they will be super attentive prior to pick up, once they have your household goods in their possession they no longer care about your move anymore. Paul Mcdermott was able to provide a great sales pitch to secure my contract but unfortunately was unable to thoroughly explain all of the details of the move. If he had, I definitely would have re-thought my decision. The carrier claimed that the weight of my household goods was ridiculously higher than it should have been and in the end I ended up paying almost double what my original estimate was and my delivery was 2 weeks late. Who knew plywood furniture could be so heavy! The customer service is a nightmare - no one will ever call you back and it takes at least a half an hour to get anyone on the phone. I basically ended up coordinating my own delivery, which actually ended up being much easier considering that the representatives assigned to my account provided absolutely no assistance and were just there to take your money. When I had my account reviewed I was offered a lousy $100 refund which does not do anything to make me happy considering they had just ripped me off for thousands of dollars. I could've driven my stuff cross-country myself and saved a whole lot of money, sweat, and tears. I will never use this company again. more

Great Experience 9/28/2014

This was the second time moving in the last 5 years. After a horrible experience with Global Transportation, a friend talked to me about All State. They picked up within a week in Milwaukee, WI, they were professional and the movers were incredibly nice and fun. They delivered within a week in GA and everything really fast and without any surprise. Global Transportations ended charging me $750 more than the quote they first gave me... Worst Possible Experience 9/19/2014

I hired All State Van Lines Relocation for a move from Madison, WI to San Francisco, CA My delivery was 13 days past the contracted delivery date. My move was picked up on July 26th and sat in Chicago for 4 weeks. Upon delivery, half of my bed and an entire suitcase was missing. My dining set was completely chipped, dented, and scratched up. I also had broken dishes which were carefully packed. Customer service is completely inept. They're impossible to get a hold of, they don't call you back, and even working with management gets you nowhere. It's been 23 days since delivery, and I still cannot get a clear answer as to where my missing items are. Half of my bed is still stacked in boards against the wall. I've been offered a paltry credit for the late delivery, which in no way makes up for the failure this company has made at every step. Avoid All State Van Lines at all costs. They will take your money and run. more

Worst Move Ever! Unprofessional and scam 9/16/2014

This company hired movers that have an F rating with the BBB. The service was unprofessional and the communication was non-existent. All State Van Lines Relocation Inc. has done nothing to correct the several problems encountered. The movers picked up and delivered my items after 10pm, I missed work, they overcharged by 855 pounds. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! I have moved 8 times in the last 9 years and I have never encountered the amount of problems I have with this move. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY!!! more

There was a bit of confusion when it came to exact times the movers would arrive and when the items would be dropped off. The two men who picked up the stuff in our place were efficient although they took light boxes and packed them under heavy boxes so some boxes were crushed. They also appear to have removed the pegs for the shelves from two bookcases and we didn't get those back so we needed to purchase new ones after we moved in. Also although my husband instructed a few items to not be placed on the truck as we were going to throw them away the mover placed them on the truck after my husband walked away. Three people unloaded everything from the truck and they were also efficient. My main problem that I don't think was explained was how the weight of the truck worked. Since I didn't ask the right questions I found out at the time the movers arrived that the weight of the truck was already taken and the weight of the truck after all my items were loaded would also be taken without me being present. Finally, as this was a long distance move the truck could have taken up to a week to deliver the items but even the movers who picked up were unaware of when the items would be dropped off. My moving coordinator told me she would call at certain times and dates and never phoned. I found the most helpful person the one I scheduled with to begin with and after that the chain of communication seemed to fall apart. He was the one who could tell me a lot of details about moving and how to pack my stuff but later people were not as helpful and I found myself getting very frustrated. Even after all the items were moved in I still received and email from another person at the company and a phone call trying to give me details about the move that already happened because she wasn't informed either. A few items were slightly damaged in the move. One box with some glass cups because they were under a heavy box and the base to my TV stand that was able to be repaired. Nothing too major. I don't know if I would use this company more

THE WORST COMPANY EVER-THEY MADE MY MOVE THE NIGHTMARE FROM HELL AND I AM NOT EXAGGERATING. THEY DIDN'T COME ON TIME-THE TRUCK BROKE DOWN. THEY BROUGHT MY BELONGINGS 2 WEEKS LATE-THEY HELD MY STUFF IN CALIFORNIA FOR 16 DAYS-AFTER IT WAS SUPPOSE TO HAVE BEEN DELIVERED TO MAINE- WAITING FOR MORE LOADS IN NEW YORK AND VERMONT BUT WOULD ONLY REIMBURSE ME $30 A DAY SO THEY COULD MAKE THOUSANDS!! THEY BROUGHT MY STUFF LOST MY SUITCASES WITH MY CLOTHES IN THEM. WENT UP ON THE PRICE 3 TIMES-TOLD ME I WAS OVERWEIGHT BUT I NEVER GOT MY WEIGHT SLIPS UNTIL THEY DELIVERED MY STUFF AND I AM NOT SURE IF THEY ARE REAL! THEY BROKE THE CONTRACT AND WOULDN'T MAKE GOOD ON IT. THEY LIED, CHEATED. READ THE FINE PRINT BECAUSE IT IS SO VAGUE IT COVERS THEM FOR EVERYTHING BUT YOU GET SCREWED. one day move - miss estimated 8/28/2014

I had a short, 5 hour move and they were very accomodating about making it all happen on one day. The All State person I spoke with about the quote was a real salesperson and was very pleasant to work with. The movers were clean, professional, and I felt completely safe working with them as a single young woman. All my belongings arrived without damage. 2 small points - 1) the salesperson repeatedly said that she was overestimating how much weight I would be moving, however, she managed to underestimate by 30% even though I had driven up 2 carloads of boxes myself that I had not told her I would be doing. I don't think I have all that much stuff, so I don't think I was atypical. Looking at other reviews, this low ball estimating seems common. 2) Before signing up, I asked if they had their own trucks or if they hire out other companies and the saleslady gave me the complete run-around. In retrospect, she didn't actually lie, but she managed to make it sound like they employed the drivers and owned the trucks. She should have been more straightforward in saying they are moving brokers. more

Terrible Service 8/27/2014

Beware of Allstate,pay the extra dollar to get a good company. They will tell you what you want to hear and proclaim to be such an outstanding company when in reality they are one of the worst companies I have ever had to deal with. They have what they call a customer service department, well someone needs to manage this department. Every time I tried to reach my agent all I got was voicemail needless to say my calls were not returned even tried email to no avail same thing no response. They hire low rate moving companies to handle your move. The movers showed up at 6:30 at night to start packing our home up for the move unheard of. They damaged a piece of furniture before they even got it out of the house. I scheduled the delivery and gave them a window from the 12th to 16th never happened just got lip service from the agent(typical through the whole process)they then informed me that our furniture would be delivered on the 19th and once again never happened. The agent couldn't even tell me where our stuff was. The furniture finally arrived on the 23rd with numerous pieces being damaged as well as items not even on the truck(King Mattress and Box Springs)this is a large item to not be on the truck. When I spoke to the agent about this there was no concern with them. Allstate needs to understand that they work for the customer we are the ones paying them. They really need to screen their movers better to ensure that their customers are getting a top rate service. Lastly they need to control their subcontracted movers and direct them not let the movers dictate the work to them. Please read reviews on other sites before hiring Allstate. The Allstate site shows a lot of high ratings but if you look at the others you will see the real reviews more

Great Moving Experience 8/25/2014

My family has relocated numerous times with my employer. This is our first move post-retirement. Our previous move experiences could not compare with this recent one thru All State. From the start, Spenser Jones treated us like family. Faye was very 'hands-on' with a pleasant demeanor. Our movers were very professional. I have already recommended All State and Royal Moving to others and will continue to do so. more
