The news story listed here is nearly 2 years old. Must be a jellous competive shop that has nothing better to do than add garbage to websites. JUST FOR THE RECORD, CHARGES WERE NEVER FILED ON THE OWNER OF THIS FLORIST. Being in the "know", documents were filed shortly after that article stating "no charges were being filed for lack of evidence." This was also published in the same paper 2 days later. My daughter's mother-in-law died unexpectedly in her sleep and was discovered on a Saturday morning. I called Alan's that afternoon, as soon as I heard. They were able to get a nice arrangement of flowers to the house within a few hours, while her family was still just gathering in shock at the news. My husband and I live 6 hrs away from Palmdale, so it was nice to have such lovely flowers represent us during this unhappy occasion. I will use them again. more

Warrants out for florist shop owner allegedly on lam This story appeared in the Antelope Valley Press on Wednesday, February 21, 2007. By CHARLES F. BOSTWICK Valley Press Managing Editor -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PALMDALE - Sheriff's detectives are hunting for a Palmdale businessman wanted on felony arrest warrants charging him with vehicle theft and drug possession. Sheriff's officials asked for the public's help in locating Alan's Flowers owner Alan Coon, who they said was charged with possession of methamphetamine and is also accused of refusing to return an SUV to a rental car company. "He's been able to evade us," said Palmdale Sheriff's Station spokesman Deputy Dave Jennings, who distributed Coon's photograph Tuesday to local news media. Coon, 58, has owned Alan's Flowers for 15 years. He is a former Palmdale Chamber of Commerce board member. In 1998 he was among 13 chamber members ousted in a messy chamber schism in which they were accused of harassing chamber staff and other misbehavior. Coon and others challenged the ouster, which they described as motivated by internal chamber politics. Coon is wanted on a no-bail narcotics warrant issued in December as well as a vehicle-theft warrant for $20,000 issued in January, Detective Mark Machanic said. Coon rented a 2006 Saturn Vue on Dec. 8 in Palmdale and was due to return it Dec. 15 but never did, Machanic said. When he went to Coon's East Palmdale Boulevard shop to look for him, Machanic said, the employees told him that Coon wasn't there and that he would drop by from time to time but that they didn't know a telephone number to reach him. Machanic said he has checked residential addresses for Coon, but they've either been old or wrong ones. An employee who answered the flower shop's telephone on Tuesday said Coon was not there and that she would try to get a message to him. Coon is described as white, 6 feet, 1 inch tall and about 185 pounds. The Saturn Vue he is accused of stealing is silver with Nevada license plates, Machanic said. Being a resident of the Antelope Valley for nearly a year now, I was so excited when, by accident, I walked into Alan's Flowers two years ago to order flowers for a very dear friend of mine who pass away very suddenly. After dealing with several florist in Palmdale and in Lancaster I was floored to see such an assortment of flowers and plants at Alan's Flowers. As ;long as I live out here I will never use any other florist. The flowers that they made were so beautiful and fitting for such a beautiful dear friend. I had so many people ask where I bought them. There were so many flowers at this service, however, just taking a glance at them, I had no problem picking out the arrangements that were done by Alan's Flowers. Not to say that there were about 2 other arrangements that were also nice by another shop. However that shop had several others that were so bad. With great pride, I send so many people to Alan's shop and have only heard nice things and "thank yous" for doing this. Alan;s flowers it is.......... more

On my Mothers Birthday I forgot to order my her flowers ahead of time. So I stepped into this little store located on Palmdale Boulevard, and was surprised to find that the florists seemed to not care what they were selling. Most of the flowers had browned even though they were stored in a fridge. and the selection was not as great as other florists. The only great thing about this store is that most florists flower mark-up is unbelievable but this store is relatively cheap in comparison. more
