Please see my review of the District Attorney's office here in Alameda. It is a good overview of the situation. When I was in court on criminal charges for the first time in my life, this is what ""my"" public defender said. He told me they (himself included) didn't want to hear my side of the story. When I told him my conscience wouldn't allow me to accept any ""deal"", he came unglued. He nearly jumped out of his seat and told me he didn't care about my conscience! My interaction with the authorities and other lawyers simply went down hill from there. These crooks do not deserve anyone's respect, not even as human beings I'm sorry to say. The scars that my children and I have run deep. These people didn't just make one mistake. It is their consistent way of doing business. Too bad there is not a good way of making complaints about these public organizations. They are accountable to no one but themselves. Your tax dollars hard at work.
