Buyer beware 7/25/2009

I purchase a vacuum cleaner in 2005 with a 5 year warranty on parts and labor. This was included in the price. I paid $1,200 less 2 trade ins which they never picked as promised. Recently my Legacy vacuum's power nozzle came apart and I noticed the wires were all frayed. I called the above Kingston dealer who sold me the machine and the great warranty they gave me. Made promises when I bought it they never kept. They were nice and willing to pickup up power nozzle. On the day the Rep came he examined the power nozzle and asked questions. I had told I pulled it apart because it was loose by the elbow and wires were protruding out. He said no problem then remarked the my brushes were worn and need to be replaced, said it would cost $40.00. I said not right now let me think about it. I felt it was not necessary they looked okay and the unit did work with no problem until it came apart. What happened. He took it back and We had to call (they did not call me) and find out they wanted forty, $40.00 dollars to repair broken unit. odd being $40 dollars the same $40 dollars they were trying to get from me on the day they picked up the unit. The reason was we violated the warranty and abused the unit. We were accused of something we did not do. Now let me tell My mother, my aunt, my grand parents all have had this product over the years. I even own a Jubilee and never had a problem. This is not electrolux anymore. Its called Airless. My Jubilee still works and to be funny with the abuse and carelessness that we give it. The problem is the new models are all plastic and the swivel design by the elbow in my own opinion defective in design because the wires will fray with normal use causing problems. My wife was cleaning one day and noticed the unit sparking and not working and yelled my name and I quickly went over and pulled the plug. If you need an electrolux go online and buy and older model before 1990. They are cheaper and more reliable than the new ones and for the money you can buy five, six or seven or more for the price of one and not worry about the warranty that will not be honored when you purchase a new one. after all buying a used one between $50 to $250 is better because if it breaks and I mean ""if"", you have insurance of your own where go out and buy another. Another is to try a cheaper competitor. Also do not be fooled but the power vacuums produce. Its the design that matters. Ebay all the way where you find what cannot find elsewhere because of the Home Depots, Lowes and the Wal-Mart's.. Pros: product works Cons: does not live up to warranty buyer beware more
