Best choice we ever made! 6/11/2014

This dance business has it going on! The owner is organized. The dancers really dance. There are lots of teachers to choose from that know how to teach dance. I had my daughter at a newer studio in town and decided to switch from a friends referral. The best choice we ever made! After one year she was invited into the competition team! They taught her double what the other studio did. I don't know why I didn't go here first! Do not take your kids anywhere else it is a waste of time! Take dance at this studio! more

Impressive 9/26/2012

I am impressed with this dance studio. I enrolled my daughter in other studios in town and High Step Dance Academy is the best. If you want your child to learn how to dance go to High Step Dance Academy. They are organized, legit and have professional dancers as instructors. The classes start on time and my daughter learns new moves in every class. She did not learn new moves at the other studios. I am very happy I did not listen to negative reviews and took my daughter to High Step Dance Academy. more

Dance for Fun 10/12/2010

I danced at High Step for twelve years before quitting so that I could further my education and High Step is by far the best studio in town to dance at. During my time I was in all levels of classes, taught by many different instructors and they all had a passion for DANCE! High Step offers a welcoming atmosphere for students of all ages and dance experience, from three years of age up to adult. It doesn't matter what class you are in the students have fun and work hard to become better dancers. Many people recently feel that Daisy is too hard on her students, but from a teachers perspective I can completely see where she is coming from. It is extemely discouraging to work really hard with a class on coreography and the next week have them come back and have forgotten everything they learned the week before. Daisy deals with this situation in the proper way by letting people know that she is discouraged but works with us to make it right. High Step is an amazing place to dance, especia more

High Step is the best in town! 7/25/2010

High Step is by far the best Dance Academy in town! The customer service is great and the instructors are fantastic! They know how to teach dance! We have been to every dance place in town and High Step Dance Academy has everything figured out! Wow, after reading some of the bad reviews I have to say some people are crazy! I was nervous after reading the bad reviews but decided to give High Step a try. We are so happy we did! I run a business and know there are some people that are never pleased, no matter what you do for them. I am sure the bad reviews about High Step Dance Academy are those people, because we haven't found anything to complain about! more

Done 4/3/2010

My review, my money, my choice. I am not responding to any of the other reviews on this page, not spending another penny on highstep and going elsewhere. You make your own choice but this business doesn't deserve the one star that I am forced to give to leave my feedback. more

High Step is Welcoming! 10/4/2009

We have just started taking lessons at High Step. My family feels welcomed and we all get excited to make the short trip to High Step. I was impressed with them from the start because they stayed open late just for me so I could sign my girls up. My girls are 3 and 8. The 3 year old takes ballet at 6pm and the class is wonderful. I respect that the teacher will sometimes close the door if parents become a distraction. I have witnessed this. There once was a parent taking pictures and actually stepping into the room to do so. She would ask her child to pose and she used flash. The teacher politely closed the door as the other students were very distracted. I love how professional and upbeat the staff is. My 8 year old takes hip hop and just loves it! I was a little leery about hip hop as it can be a promiscuous style, however High Step keeps it family friendly! The songs are appropriate and the dances are pure fun! High Step is a great dance place, we are 100% happy! more

I LOVE HIGH STEP 8/14/2009

High Step is WONDERFUL !!!! Every dancer is treated as equals and are all focused on, if you want to be a serious dancer then come here. I have gone to High Step for a long time now and I've made my way to the performing company with fun dance competitions!!could not be happier at any other dance studio. Every teacher is positive, happy, nice and helpful. Also mandatory trips you can be excused from. But you need to tell a teacher in ADVANCE because they may need to redo the formation in the dance you're child was in. High Step will make you happy and in shape.High Step Is the best Place to go if you're serious about dancing. more

With the help and support of High Step 7/23/2009

Ok, im going to be abosoulutely truthfull with everyone reading this... Ive been dancing here for 10 years. Never once have i had a bad experience or teacher. I do agree with some people though on the strictness of the Academy. I think personally this helps younger children to respct elders and become organized and on time. Also i agree on people not careing for Sondra. She was in it for the money not the kids unlike Daisy. Daisy has helped me through my last injury. The injury was not dance related but Daisy was there to help me get back into dance after all of the stress put on me to become a dancer again. I think that it is great for the young people of Longview to have jobs that they actually enjoy and doing something they love while helping the community. Im 17 years old and have recently got an offer to be in the seattle ballet and perform in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. I don't think i would be able to get this far without the help and support from the staff and High Step Dance Academy family. more

WE LOVE HIGH STEP DANCE 5/5/2009

OMG! I can not believe anybody would have anything bad to say about High Step Dance since Daisy has been the owner. We finally have a caring, loving owner, who is in the same county, around to ask questions, and talk about things. We'd defend her to no end. She is fair. She did away with the favoritism BS that was happening before she took over. She will not put up with parents trying to bully her around. These parents are usually after only 1 thing to make their lives easier, with no respect for what their request does for anyone else. These are also the ones around town trying to bad mouth the business because they did not get their way. Daisy, her husband and her parents are at every High Step Function. If Daisy is late, I bet it was because she was running to the studio to get something. I know her and her husband have had to make these trips after event planners had promised to have things ready for her, like a CD player, then did not have these things ready or available. Grow up 4/24/2009

Daisy is a wonderful person!!!! I danced with her at High step dance, and Sandra was our teacher. If your child was punished for not being at an event then that should teach her to not miss another one. Dance does help team work and if one girl is missing the team is not complete. If your kid wants to learn to be a real dancer then she should commit and stay at High step, if she just wants to play around and dance the go to some cheer crap place. more

A Positive Dance Studio!! 1/27/2009

High Step Dance is really the best place to let your child learn to dance and grow up as people. The staff is so friendly and upbeat. They teach leadership, creativity, compassion, understanding, and dance! I've read through all of these reviews and it is a shame that only people who don't like something speak up. If everyone who is happy with High Step wrote a review you wouldn't even see the bad reviews. I know who most of the people are who wrote these bad reviews and these are people who I certainly wouldn't let my child go to their houses and play. It is always the rotten people in the world that try to ruin something that is going strong, possibly people are jealous of this young woman taking control and giving opportunities to the young dancers of Longview that they never would have dreamed. I just want to defend Daisy and say that the girl who missed the Christmas parade is a dancer who can drive, this isn't a little child. I asked other parents about the situation and the danc more

really?? 1/15/2009

there have been so many things at highstep recently that make me feel compelled to let others know about this terrible business. when you think of a dance studio, you think of confidence building and positive influences on your kids. not here, not at all. dasey makes mandatory apearances for the kids and punishes them if they are unable to attend but does not show up herself? really? it was a christmas parade? is one student really going to make that big of difference? must not have been important enough for her to change her plans to be there. then having fellow students voting whether the student should be punished for missing it. come on. teach compassion, teach understanding, teach dance, quit teaching the girls to turn their backs on their friends and making them vote against their fellow dancers. if you want your kids to learn from good leaders and from positive people, then you need to look further than highstep. more

def not for us. 12/27/2008

I took my daughter out of Highstep after last year. We and a few of our friends had really bad experiences with the teachers/administrators and we all took our kids out of the program. I know a few people that are still there this year and things have not changed....this is their last year with the program. We found a lot better fit with the Longview Stars cheer team, they seem to have a lot of what Highstep is lacking.\r http://www.longviewstars.com/ more

Satisfied! 12/18/2008

I am really impressed with the improvement High Step makes each year! I have been doing business with High Step for about 5 years now. Once the new owner took over things changed for the best! She is in it for the dancers, not the money. I've noticed some parents who flaunt their money and the new atmosphere is all about the rules-not the cash. Yes, I've seen some money flaunting parents leave the studio upset, but the reasons I've heard are outrageous on their part, not the studios. For instance, parents not reading the rules and wanting to change the rules to fit their needs for selfish reasons. To me rules are set to keep everyone equal and High Step does a great job of that. The students at High Step have had opportunities they never would have dreamed. And the new staff is great! The yearly paper work is explained and you know what you are getting into. There are no surprises. The dance education the students receive and the price for it is great and reasonable. The teachers may se more

A Great Place!! 12/11/2008

Both of my daughters attends High Step, I think its a great and happy environment. My daughter has never felt neglected , pressured or out of place. One has worked her way to the company and loves every minute of it and looks forward to each and every class and competition. I think this may not be the place for some people who are in it for recreational purposes. They are abrupt and short sometimes but I know its not on purpose, take a seat in the lobby on a tuesday night, the office is crazy she barely has time to take a deep breath with the phones, parents, kids, sizing. They are doing the very best they can for as busy as they are. I think you guys are GREAT! more

Daisy or Sondra?...DAISY 8/10/2008

How can anyone compare Daisy and Sondra? Daisy danced professionally, went to college for dance and knows the history behind dance!! Sondra was a fun teacher but she never accomplished any of the things Daisy did and us dancers never improved as much as we have since Daisy took over. For someone to drive up to Lynnwood where Sondra is at when there is a fantastic studio in town is crazy!! If you are going to drive up to the Seattle area you better take from a professional studio in the heart of the city, not someone who didn't last in Longview. Plus, Daisy has a student dancing with Joffrey Ballet for the summer! From a dancers experience High Step is the only studio that can give you what you want. Correct Training, Love of Dance, and Experience for the world outside of Longview in dance and life. I Love High Step and Daisy!! more

its changed... 7/11/2008

personally i liked the studio much better when Sondra owned it! not that daisy isn't a great person, she's just no comparison to Sondra, who has had so much more experience. daisy is way to strict and the preforming company is no longer fun, it is all work and no play (unless you consider a lame round of "secret sister" to be fun). i recommend driving to Seattle and taking private lessons from Sondra st. john, you will get more out of it and score much higher in competitions! more

High Step 4/18/2008

I have danced at high step for 11 years and i love it with all my heart. Daisy, the new owner, has danced all over the country and she really understands and knows what she is doing. She is experienced in all aspects of dance and she treats all her dancers the same. They have lots of different class options and all their teachers know and love what they are doing. I would Definatly Reccomend HIGH STEP! more

High Step is Amazing 3/24/2008

I have been a student at High Step for 10 years now and I have taught there as well. The instructors are wonderful and everyone there really has a passion for dance. I recommend them to anyone and everyone who really has a love for dance. The people who don't like the studio really don't have the love of dance in their hearts. The new owner is wonderful and really knows what she is talking about. She has a had a real career in the dance world and is willing to help anyone get there. She understands if your life long dream is not in the dance world as well and does not pressure people into auditioning. She is very fair in her ways of putting people into shows and classes. I recommend High Step to everyone that really understands the meaning of Dance from your Heart. more
