Really Crappy- Do NOT go! 6/2/2009

Ever since the ""new"" owners began in 2008, this place has been a dump. Not only does the bar reek, but the service is HORRIBLE! I used to drop by now and again for a drink, even though the prices were insane. If you want to save 50% on your drink, go next door or somewhere else. Seriously, $12 for a shot? I asked for Grey Goose, but even though the bartender pulled down a Grey Goose bottle, it was NOT Grey Goose! I drink the stuff fairly often, so I know what it is supposed to taste like. What I was served was some cheap well vodka. I am sure most people can't tell, but I sure can! Pros: I wish there was one pro, but I can't think of one! Cons: Too many cons, see below. more

Sublime Food and Amazing Service 12/3/2006

You are in for a treat if you visit this restaurant: a warm welcome-staff, a server with outstanding listening skills, a chef who comes out and bends down beside your chair to ask you what kind of changes you would like to the dishes that he has on the menu, a flawless execution in making of the dishes and food that melts in your mouth before you can savor the flavors. Of course the setting is stylish and polished as has already been mentioned by other reviewers on this forum. This combination makes 180 Restaurant & Lounge a Unique Restaurant in the Bay Area. Great Ambience & Food 10/25/2006

I went with 3 girlfriends last night for dinner. We ended up sitting at a table in the bar for 4+ hours eating appetizers and drinking wine for dinner. The were WONDERFUL. We enjoyed the Seared Ahi (nicely spicy), Crab Cakes, Ribs and Chicken Quesadilla. They had a nice selection of wine to choose from. Our server was very attentive and friendly (but not overly so). Just before we left, the owner, Mark, introduced himself and seemed genuinely interested in our experience at his restaurant and learning about who we are. We will definitely go back and look forward to sitting down for a full dinner. more

A great surprise! 8/21/2006

This wa a very enjoyable evening all together. The food was outstanding (the salmon and the pork porterhouse) and the service was pleasant. Nothing was rushed. Two complants, the tables are tightly placed and the lights were a little too dim. That said, we will be back! more

Just Ok 4/27/2006

Dinner last night - just ok. Lobster Ravioli was too sweet and the portion too large (figured that out after the entree showed up) Trio of Ahi Tuna, the fish quality was great, the presentation was lacking, oversized won ton was a distraction. Veal Piccatta, portion too large but very well made. The beurre blanc sauce was just tangy enough. Duo of Duck, again, portion size too large, the sauce over the sliced breast was too sweet, the leg was the highlight. And last but not least, my pet peeve of the night - Testarossa Pinot Noir on the wine list as ""Santa Cruz Mountains"", knowing they do not make a Pinot from SCM we ordered it, sure enough label name is ""Central Coast"". Really wished it had been good 1/23/2006

My husband and I went here recently for a celebration dinner. We'd been for drinks and enjoyed ourselves. Dinner, on the other hand, was not good. Our server and drinks were great. The food was trying way too hard--my stuffed sole had way too many competing flavors and the lemon risotto was gummy. Salad with the warm bacon vinagrette--dressing wasn't warm as specified and was mostly vinegar. The banana foster was soupy and not carmelized. It seemed to be laying in a pool of butterscotch soup. For the price of the entrees, the food should have been much better. Doesn't even compare to cafe marcella where the chef is from. We won't go back. more

Decadent Food and Wonderful Service 6/24/2005

My filet mignon with a demi glaze sauce absolutely melted in my mouth. Accompanied by garlic sautéed shrimp in a beurre blanc sauce with mashed potatoes and broccolini, this special of the evening did not disappoint and I did not go away hungry. The service was also incredible and Chef Nick Difu visited our table to personally discuss and accommodate my dietary restrictions. This, in addition to the decadent food, is what separates 180 Restaurant from the others. Pros: Food, Service, Accomodating Cons: Parking, Moderate - high $ more

Change for Los Gatos 6/23/2005

Dined at 180 on a Saturday night and the food was very good. The ambience is very different for a Los Gatos restaurant- a very urban feel. Stark decor and the staff all dressed in black. Crowd was diverse. Live ""art"" later in the evening. Reservations were for 7:30 and the restaurant was half full. By 9pm the restaurant and bar were packed. more
