The tea used to be much better. They hired this one guy in particular, a tall white guy, that just doesn't make anything that tastes right. The owner, when he's there, does a great job and he's consistent, but no on else seems to be able to get it right. The place is comfortable and attracts the student crowd. A nice selection of pre-packaged teas and snacks are available. more

Great regular tea, too, and a quiet atmosphere 4/12/2006

A lot of the bubble tea places on the Ave. are very...bright. Shinka feels more like a Japanese sanctuary than a pop-culture enclave. The food, unfortunately, is pre-packaged, so don't go hungry. Still, it's a great place to sit and read the paper with a pot of tea. more

for bubble tea lovers, you should try this place..it's called shinka, located in university district around 50th and the AVE...the people over there are very friendly and ready to serve you with tasteful bubble tea with many flavor options...the place itself is very comfortable, has a sofa and just a cool place to hang out with your friends have some bubble tea..they also have some playing cards and UNO and other fun stuff to play with while you're waiting for your drinks...great experience more
