Businiess name:  Emerald City Heating

Review content:
As a contractor, I should have been more diligent when hiring somebody to replace my furnace. Doing business as Emerald City Heating, Mr. Alan Chambliss presented himself and his company very well and offered my wife and I a competitive estimate. He called us a week after to let us know that he had our furnace unit currently in stock and that he had a window in his schedule. He also told us that if we scheduled for that day that he could knock $300 off of his original proposal. A great deal for everyone, right? Things got "funny" when he told my wife half-way through the project that he needed to be paid cash for us to receive the discount. Then he told my wife that he decided not to acquire permits from the county for the work he was performing. This raised loud alarms in my head when I found out that night and I investigated him further than I had previously, only to find that his contractor number is bogus and that he's not even a legal business after all! With concerns about the work performed, we contacted AAA Heating in Kent to inspect Alan Chambliss' work and found that an additional $700 worth of repairs would have to be done to make our "new" furnace safe. As well, the humidifier Emerald City Heating installed is a used unit and the motherboard of the furnace was defective. If you have any information about this company or Alan Chambliss personally, you can contact Bob Esparza at the Washington State Department of Labor & Industry - Fraud Investigation Unit at (206)835-1058. IF you have had work performed by this man or his company in the past two years, please provide that information to Mr. Esparza so that scam-artists like this can be driven out of the marketplace.
