Review content:
Having tried many of the Cuban restaurants in LA, I found this one to be the best one yet! We went there during their opening weekend and had a wonderful experience. The atmosphere was warm and charming, dark wood tables, beautifully tiled floors, vivid paintings and photographs of old Havana on the walls, as well as live entertainment featuring a piano player and congo drums. But most importantly, the food was excellent! The menu offered many of the traditional dishes you would expect on an Cuban menu, like grilled chicken sauteed in butter and lemon with white rice and black beans, as well as house specialties, like grilled halibut in rum and mint mojito sauce (which I ordered and was out of this world). For dessert, my wife had the caramel flan which she savored with every bite. With so many delicious dishes on the menu, we will surly be back. The only thing that was missing was a nice tall mojito (which according to our waitress, should be on the menu very soon). However, they do have a good variety of wines and beers. So for a truly authentic Cuban experience, try La Bodeguita De Pico.
Pros: Valet parking, live entertainment, rich history
Cons: no mojitos... yet!
