Review content:
Do NOT take your kids here. They try and pass themselves off as a preschool when they are really a sub-par day care at best. \r \r We started taking my nephew, Blake, here in the summer of 2013. He's four, very smart and we just needed a decently priced day-care to watch him during the day. We figured at the very least it would get him acclimated to being around other kids his own age. Instead what we got was him getting sent home dirty and hungry every day. \r \r Our last experience with Kathy's House left us kind of dumbfounded. His mom was running a little late and we had missed a payment so, naturally, she knew that the staff might have been a little irritated. Instead, apparently, that gave the OWNER the license to, for lack of a better word, scold her about her son. \r \r She told us that, first of all, we were lucky another child brought his lunch so Blake would have a lunch to eat. A week earlier we got a lecture about how when we dont bring him they have an extra lunch because they order his lunch regardless if he shows up or not. That never really got clarified, but I digress. \r \r Secondly, she told us that Blake cannot recognize his letters, use scissors and basically told us that he was stupid. She then went on to tell us that ""Grain Valley requires kids to know a lot of things before they enter kindergarten. My fourth grader has 27 book reports to do this year. How could Blake do that if he can't even recognize his letters?""\r \r FIRST OF ALL I did not ask S*&T about YOUR kid, why should I care? I am paying you to take care of MY kid, not compare my four year old to your fourth grader.\r \r Secondly, we talked to a neighbor and asked what Grain Valley requires of incoming kindergartners. They told us that they need to be able to stand in line, raise their hands when a question is asked, get along with the other children and go to the bathroom by themselves.\r \r Blake can read about 20 words per minute at a second grade level. We did not expect him to really learn anything else until kindergarten. But the fact that they blatantly assumed that he can't recognize his letters just because they put him on the spot and he said ""I don't know"" because he's a little self conscious. This tells me that the ""teachers"" that were being PAID to TEACH him these things were NOT doing their jobs.\r \r So in summation, I would definitely NOT recognize this place as a pre-school, but rather a daycare run by a very rude, inconsiderate and ignorant woman who will treat you as a second class citizen if you miss a payment and compare your children to hers because APPARENTLY that is an accurate comparison to whether your child will succeed in life.
