We had initially taken our ferrets to another vet in the area for routine care. One day we had to go to the ER at the U of I small animal clinic with our little ferret who was rescued from a bad situation. The vet was very helpful, and gave us treatments we could perform at home so we didn't have hundreds of dollars spent on ICU. After adopting 2 more ferrets, we didn't really like the care they got at the old clinic, and switched all 4 ferrets to the U of I clinic. One summer our oldest ferret died during a surgery, and the vets and staff handled the situation with such compassion that we knew that this was our permanent ferret clinic from now on. Their exotics team is very knowledgeable, they always work with us on different treatments, are honest about procedures and outcomes, and if they don't know something, they are always willing to learn/research to give our ferrets the best care possible.
