Review content:
My fiancee and I recently purchased an engagement ring at Barsky Diamonds. We had never been to Sansom Street as we are not local to Philadelphia. We approached our day trip eager to find a quality ring, but not willing to buy unless we felt 100% confident with the purchase/experience. After checking out numerous places, we entered Barsky Diamonds where we met Nathan Barksy. He was friendly, professional and offered a ""no pressure"" approach when showing us items of interest. This was such a breath of fresh air after having been in other well known stores where the ""what will it take for you to buy this today"" tactics were grueling. After spending nearly 2 hours with Nathan Barsky, we purchased a gorgeous princess cut diamond mounted in a unique18k setting. We left very happy with with our purchase. Unfortunately, a few days later, we noticed that the corner of the stone had a small chip near the prong. Since I had not worn the ring yet, we assumed this happened during mounting. We returned to see Nathan Barsky, obviously upset that our lovely stone was slightly damaged. Nathan handled the situation with professionalism, courtesy and in manner truly reflective of customer satisfaction. He immediately apologized, examined the stone and agreed that the chip must have happened during mounting as stones are under extreme pressure. He quickly offered to make things right by allowing us the choice of having the original stone recut or selecting another stone. Mr. Barsky offered to replace the original stone with one of the same carat weight, but of better quality in both color and clarity. He was a perfect gentleman and was clearly more concerned with our satisfaction than with his profit. I cannot speak highly enough of how Mr. Barsky chose to react to this situation. Many other jewelers would not have acted in the same manner and would not have as readily taken responsibility. At that moment I was so thankful that we had chosen to purchase from Barsky Diamonds. For those of you who fear the few negative reviews of this family owned business, please don't. I'm certain that things such as loose stones, chips, etc. happen from time to time in ALL jewelry stores, but I'm not so certain that all stores would handle those situations with the same level of integrity and class. We do not hesitate to recommend Barsky Jewelers.
