Her policy is that if cancel an appointment with less than 24 hours notice she charges for the appointment?in our case $60-$80. Sounds fairly normal right? Not so fast. She has ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTIONS. Need to go to the emergency room?tough luck. Death in the family?so sorry, will that be check or cash. One minute short of 24 hours notice?too bad, I?ll just go ahead and run your card.\r \r My wife and I don?t have insurance and money is tight. So having my wife see her was a financial strain as it was (especially since most visits were only about twenty minutes). \r \r One day, my wife had to go to the emergency room and Dr. Bayliss charged us $80 for a missed appointment?even though she knew it was an emergency situation. I let that go since we had to cancel only about two hours before my wife?s appointment and I?m not normally someone who makes waves. However, a few months later we were very short on money and my wife had an appointment the next day. She called Dr. Bayliss and canceled. I thought everything was fine, but then surprise, surprise we get a $60 charge on our account.\r \r My wife called Dr. Bayliss to find out why. Turns out my wife had only given ?23 hours notice? instead of 24, so she was one hour short so Dr. Bayliss charged us $60?it would have been nice if Dr. Bayliss had mentioned that when my wife was on the phone with her. But, hey, $60 for doing nothing is pretty sweet.\r \r I called Dr. Bayliss and left a message (she never answers her phone) politely explaining that we were really short on cash and that we couldn?t afford $60. I asked her, again politely, to call me so I could talk to her about the situation.\r \r Instead of calling me, however, Dr. Bayliss called my wife to give her a lecture about ?rules are rules,? that ?she had to draw a line with her patients.? and that she ?would charge someone if they were only a few minutes past the 24 hour deadline.? \r \r At that point I decided we would look for a different psychiatrist. \r
